I own a couple of this author's books that I have sincerely enjoyed. This one fell a bit flat for me though. I read the first 76 pages in entirety, then read the first page of each additional chapter (and skimmed additional parts of interest).
The good:
The book shares 33 tips to help live a more spiritual, intuitive, happy life. These are mostly common sense (listen to your body, expect the best, etc), but could be useful reminders or launching points for people. She also shares a lot of personal experiences (hers & her clients') for those that enjoy reading about how the principles can apply to real life situations.
What I'm taking away from the book: "... getting a glass jar with a lid and putting a piece of paper in it that says, "I freeze all negativity known or unknown moving toward me as of now." Fill the jar with water and blue food coloring for added protection, and actually freeze it." Also: "I instruct my subconscious mind to only follow my Higher Self in spite of what my mind says."
The ehh:
I really didn't enjoy the tone (kind of holier-than-thou & snarky at times). For example: "Have you ever been on a highway when some fool enters and drives in the wrong direction, goes well below the speed limit, or changes lanes sporadically because he's afraid or doesn't know where he's going? It creates chaos and annoyingly throws everyone else out of sync. The same thing happens to a six-sensory person like me living in a world filled with five-sensory control freaks who are afraid to get in the flow. It breaks my stride, bogs me down, and can be really irritating. So my roadster self is definitely invested in getting everyone up to speed so that I can travel the psychic highway without running into energy roadblocks or traffic jams." There was also a lot of talk about this being the "higher" way.
I didn't like the "us versus them" mentality of the 6th sensory vs 5th sensory commentary. I understand she wanted to explain why being sixth sensory is so fantastic, but it felt too divisive. "It's almost as though sex-sensory and five-sensory people are two different species."
I didn't like that spiritual self and ego were presented like it was classic good vs classic evil situation. Just didn't resonate.
Possibly very useful for some people, but could have been a whole lot better for me. Pretty much glad this was a library book. :)
I had/have problems separating the persecuting message of the book from the practical advice and suggestions she gave to practice psychic living. I have a hard time trusting someone that has an ultimatum of how I should live my life, and someone that tells me if I question then I am just having an ego-based reaction. For me its a red flag if someome believes in their ideas so much that the only option they give their audience is to "believe in me or else your ego is acting up"
At the author's advice, I have trusted my vibes! I am putting some distance between me and this book and taking a break from "spiritual" dogma for a while.
I'm not sure what led me to this book but I read it and now I'm a believer! Sonia Choquette is a pychic but she is also a very evolved person and just give good advice. I'm going to reread on a regular basis because it just reminds me to be a better person.
A good introductory guide to intuition development. As I scan through other people's reviews, I basically agree with the points AnandaTashie makes. Yes, it's oversimplified such as 5 sensory person vs 6 sensory person. And yes, there is a sense of "I'm better than you," ego boost while the author puts down the ego. This is why I'm taking one star off. I still think it's a good introductory book.
By the way, if anyone's reading this -- please DON'T do: getting a glass jar with a lid and putting a piece of paper in it that says, "I freeze all negativity known or unknown moving toward me as of now." Fill the jar with water and blue food coloring for added protection, and actually freeze it.
This type of practice (basically a spell) backfires you. And you simply don't need such trick. Just acknowledge all feelings (whether you judge them to be positive or negative) and let them pass. That's all it takes, not a weird magic spell.
Book describes really common sense things, nothing new or helpful. It is just as the title is, saying from the beginning to the end, trust your vibes, in other words and with various examples.
I recently returned from my first solo trip. I traveled through two wonderful cities of Italy, acting in ways absolutely foreign to me and met extraordinary loving people without conscious efforts. Upon my return I found that ability to draw such wonderful experiences slipping away. I wanted to be who I became on the trip, she was charming and lucky. Putting on the thinking cap, I wondered what did I do differently on my trip... Basically, during the trip I didn't have a template dictating my choices or decisions. I went viscerally from moment to moment, ending up at best places, at the right time, interacting with interesting people and sampling the best food and wine without prior recommendations or mind-splitting planning which I usually do. In absence of my mind chatter, I had given over the command to my intuition. Since realizing this, I have been wondering how to be more intuitive. I came across this book by happenstance, intuition perhaps (wink-wink), after listening to a small talk by Dr. Sonia Choquette. This book is wonderfully written. I devoured it and I know I will keep coming back to it. Drawing on wisdom that we know from psychology too, like insight learning after pause in problem solving thinking, persisting in creative endeavors despite being bad initially, and using laughter and affection to boost immune system and health, this book is as practical as it gets. Certain references to angels and other beings did not go with me well, but in principle what this book offers towards overcoming the mind chatter, ego struggles and surrendering to calm wisdom from feeling self, others and environment is simply marvelous. Do read if you wish to glide through life. I realized that I have been abreast with some of the exercises suggested in this book like taking pause, being silent, feeding my soul by doing things that make me happy like cooking and reading, etc. The rest of the exercises are interesting and seem to be making the getting into 'flow' easier for me. With practice, as advised in this book, we can subdue our mind chatter and ego trips, and live a more meaningful, loving and engaging life. Now who wouldn't want that? Give this a try if you want to slow down and live from a deeper place of calm and connection with everything including yourself!
I found this book by “accident” (although now I know there are no accidents) in a bookstore a couple of weeks ago. I wasn’t looking for anything special, but it practically had my name on it since I had in my pocket the exact amount of its price. I have never read any of Sonia’s books, but I have listened to her on www.hayhouseradio.com and I enjoy her radio show very much. Her voice is quite soothing too. I’m very pleased with this book, I enjoyed ever page of it.
I’ve been working on my spiritual path for many years now, and I know there is so much to learn. Sonia shares in her book lots of “secrets” that will help you open up to the Universe and become a six-sensed person. I have been doing many of the things she suggests and I do feel more relaxed, at ease and in peace in my everyday life. The hardest part is to wrestle your ego to the ground, awaken your Higher Self and trust your vibes and intuition. But I’m sure it can be done with will power, discipline and an open mind and heart. I’m still not there yet, but every day I give another step towards becoming a six-sensed being. It’s all a matter of trust. And I do trust that life and the Universe will always put me where I have to be regardless of what my mind says. However, I still have to work on trusting my vibes without hesitation or questions. If you are working on your six-sense, this is great book to start with.
Loved this! I read it on vacation and being in a new environment out of my normal routine offered a great opportunity to really practice following my own intuition. Sonia Choquette provides clear examples and framework to learn to trust yourself and expand your intuitive abilities. We all have this "gift". What I really enjoyed is her ability to allow the reader to see it in ourselves.
I couldn't resonate with the psychic verbage, but I was able to find some common sense advice around getting more in touch with your intuition (which is what I was looking for).
I've had this book on my shelf for over a year and it suddenly began to call out to be to read it. I didn't expect to gain a lot because I'm already in touch with my intuition, and don't need any convincing to trust my vibes. While this is a fairly basic guide, I am surprised at how much I took away from it. Mostly it was very affirming for me, reminding me that I am already on my true path, and I took away a lot of advice that will help me move onto a deeper level of spirituality and connectedness with my intuition. It's a bit over simplified, to divide people as either five-sensory or six-sensory beings. And at times felt a little judgey of those who haven't opened to their intuition and spiritual living. The book probably would have been better off without that content. Otherwise, the writing is straightforward and positive. The guidance given for each of Sonia's tools is easy to understand (although 33 tools seems like a lot) and are broken down so the reader can take tangible steps toward practicing each tool. Overall this is a fantastic guide for those of us looking to utilize our sixth sense, and live a more spiritual existence.
She has a lot of sensible advice but there's a lot of paganism and she collapses all of reality into trusting your vibes or your ego which is bad. She's like Jung but without any intellectuality or sophistication 😂 her sensible advice is just common sense dressed up as spiritualism.
It's beyond fitting she has a Nietzsche quote at the end of the book. Since her idea of balance is to castrate the ego and it's rationality... Hence why she is a good self help author and not a philosopher haha. It's so very modern and clueless.
She is also afraid of over population which is a horribly antihuman idea and if she got that from her vibes then she certainly is not following the angels she thinks she is.
She is a good author and I think she would make a fun friend but her advice is just common sense or anything you would find in a book on maturing or embracing the ascetic and religious life.
She talks a lot about being a six sensory person and living a six sensory life but she leaves out the other five senses and focuses on just the "vibe" sense.
i have just recently discovered Sonia Choquette.. she showed up on my Instagram and i felt so calm listening to her talk.. i picked up some of her books used, quite randomly.. i finished Diary of a Psychic a couple weeks ago.. i chose this one to start the new year.. and i LOVE it.. it is meant to be a bit of workshop, but i already follow so many of these exercises and ways.. i mean, i spent 8 days reading a book.. that is me trying to stretch it out and not just barrel thru it.. so much common sense stuff for people that already apply mindfulness & intuition to their lives.. i like reading this kind of personal point of view books, because it gives me new ways of doing things, tweaking things i could do better, reminders of things i have neglected..
all in all, 5 stars all the way.. she is just an awesome woman.. at this point, i will be reading more of her work..
Got me looking deeper into what I used to laugh off as woo-woo bunk before, and helped me "feel" my way into a more suitable wardrobe and make-up choices based on her guidance about finding what colors and textures you actually love instead of those you've been told you should love, e.g. pink (yuck) 'cause women looooove pink (eye roll). But she covers so, so much more than this: how it feels being born an empath/psychic, how she came to her vocation, etcetera. Can't say enough about this book and the wonderful Sonia Choquette but unfortunately am tight on time tonight. Just read it! ;)
I really enjoyed reading Sonia Choquettes book Trust Your Vibes. She has a very inviting aura about her that comes right through the pages. You feel as they while your reading it that somehow she's having a sit down, with you. Using examples through her own life experience Choquette very accurately guides the reader through understanding and trusting your own gut instincts. Alot of times we look to the exteriors for life direction but in this book Sonia shows you how all the necessary information is always right there.
I liked this book and the easy to read, informative style. Each chapter was a topic and the author covered each topic in a light, easy manner. It seemed like a lot of the techniques were fairly straight forward and easy to do and I learned a few tips here and there. Also, a few reminders for myself. These types of books seem to help me get reconnected with myself and the Universe and to remember to listen to myself and I like that.
I'm only half way through....but I like it that much to know I'd give it 5 stars in the end. Sometimes you pick up a book that you just 'need' at the time and this one is filled with lots of practical advice and interesting stories. I like her writing style. Yes there's a little woo-woo, and there's a couple of things I would never try (freezing negativity lol), but I really liked her chapters on prayer, good vibrations, listening to your body etc.
This book takes you through the levels of your psychic awakening. It starts out will super simple tactics you can use to improve your intuition and get in touch with your higher self. By the end of it though, some of the concepts were way out of my league and far from where I am intuitively, so they just weren’t as interesting. It’s definitely a book I would read again though as I grow into my intuition and need more advanced concepts.
A very insightful book! I enjoyed reading it. It’s structured to do weekly practices which I thought was a good idea to help break down the book to help read to understand and learn. I’ve been practicing some of the things Sonia mentions and I have seen a drastic change in how I handle situations and how I deal with both positive and negative energies.
Didn't really resonate with a lot of this, didn't seem to be too much detail and tips here, a lot of personal stories.
I like the idea of following my intuition and "gut-instinct" myself, but haven't really received any experiences myself where it has been "spot-on", maybe I need to try listening to it more.
Very inspiring and uplifting. We all have the capacity to tap into the non-localized conscious awareness. And our lives greatly improve when you do! All that’s required is basic self care, the clearing out energetic debris and to listen to your heart. Expect good things and the universe conspires in your favor!
There were a lot of good tips and personal anecdotes - I respect and agree with the overall message but it wasn't creative enough in terms of how the information was presented. I appreciated the fact that it was grounded.
I really enjoyed this quick read! Sonia had a beautiful way of reminding us that the power lies within us. And that when lost, we can always ask for help/guidance from our Higher self & spiritual guides ✨🙏🏽
At the tender age of 69 I'm finally taking the time and opportunity to get to know myself. This book provides so e excellent guidelines for that endeavour.
Truth: it was a gift and I pretty much skimmed, not read, it. And it was fine. A few things I stopped and read a little more deeply. It has some good concepts, some decent exercises. So there you go.
Great guidance for living by your inner intuition!
Sonia’s enthusiastic spirit has always been an inspiration to me. She is a natural teacher and clears the mystery away from living a spirit-driven life. This is a book that i will keep referring back to again and again.
