I haven't read a book that's conflicted me so much as this one has. I am not sure what i need to feel after reading this.
It's the story of a young lady Tana Sharma who in the first part of the book I sympathize with and in the next part of the book, i really end up despising her. Why? You need to read this book to find out about that. Saying any small thing will be a spoiler.
Kudos to the author to have maintained that particular tone throughout the narrative. After a certain point of time, it became very difficult for mebto take it too.
The few things which I would have loved to change would be to know a few answers to some of the questions that kept cropping in my mind while reading.
If you like to read stuff that goes in minds of people, if you believe that the world is not what it seems to be then this book is for you. This book is definitely not for beginners or newbiews to the genre. It's a difficult book to assimilate.

Centrally Theme: This book is an epitome of psychology blended with intricacies of emotions which deals with Tana as the protagonist of the story. Her life is full of malice, prejudices and nightmares. She falls in love with the with the man whose wife was ill and required the nurse who was none other than Tana. The life unfolds a weirdly placed mystery for her which is obviously left to the reader to explore it with chills!
My Take: I found the book to be engaging and interesting given the fact that various twists and turns of Tana's life are psychologically disturbing and yet dark with a silver lining. Nonetheless, the book is utmost ready to give the reader a good amount of thinking aspect along with thrilling goosebumps in the whole plot. The narration is effective in nature and would help the reader with imagination in the most vivid way.
Critique: The plot and narration of the book is undoubtedly charming, but the cover is designed in a haste. The cover could have given more light to the book for the book is an automatically amazing read. Other than that, the book is creatively sumptuous for the reader's appetite.

Lately I have been picking up random books and they all turned out completely amazing. This book is one of them. I have been fan of psychological thriller books lately and I am glad that I picked this up. This is one of the best read among that genre. I will briefly mention the blurb. The protagonist of the story is Tana, she is a nurse by profession. She believed that she found out her love, Vikram. Atleast he assured her that she is the love of his life. Vikram is rich widower. The opening chapter is quite thrilling. It was the scene of the first wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Patel. Tana was beaten up badly and slashed her wrist. Priyanka ruled that out on her FaceTime with Tana. And the story falls in the flashback two years ago. Read the book to unfold further plot.
If we talk generally, I loved the plot. It’s unique and filled with lots of twists and turn. The author has used amazing writing style, good use of vocabulary and language. Fee chapters really gave me goosebumps. I felt every emotions that author wanted to convey. Unpredictable storyline. Overall I liked it. Definitely recommend for the people who loves thriller books.

That's the first time I read a horror book . Enjoyed the Book . The protagonist Tana is no goody goody girl . But her character has been cleverly created by the Author who stays in my city . I could find about the Author when I read her article in one of the local newspapers . I found her via Twitter & FaceBook . Could not resist not reading a book of a fellow Author from my city . The language used in the book is not simple . Here & there you come across a few words for which you have to catch up with your dictionary .

his year has been really good in regards to reading good books, compared to last year. I got to read some of the finest books by Indian writers, which is to be quite rare. Nomita Khanna’s book ‘Rose’s Bent Stem’ is one of those books that kept me hooked throughout. In fact, it turned out to be a completely well-executed surprise for me.
Why a surprise, you ask me?
Well, for one, I had thought it to be an average love story kind of book, but rather it turned out to be a psychological thriller. My favorite genre, you see… So imagine my delight when the book started taking shape in front of my eyes. I was in complete awe of her writing style. Intricate and executed well.
The writing and the narrative of the book blew my mind off the walls. It was gripping, heart racing, a complete thrilling drama that gave me a jolt of shock so strong that I was rendered speechless. Furthermore, it was smooth as a flowing river and eerie as the nursery rhymes used in the book, which gave goosebumps. I could literally feel my hair standing on end. Moreover, loved the language used in the book, fresh, easy and free-flowing.
I was lost in the story that was a maze of twists and turns so intense that at the end of the story, one had to remind herself to breathe deep and have a cup of hot tea. Though at some places, I thought it was stretched a bit long, and that kind of was off-putting, otherwise no bother.
It is an amazing job done by Nomita. Penning a real-life story, that could have gone either way. It was a risk she dared to take. As I reckon writing a psychological story needs lots of details taken care of.
The book is very vividly written in a diary form. Very graphically detailed. Ergo, not everybody’s cup of tea. I highly recommend this book to all who like Crime/Thrillers.
This book has earned a 4 on 5 stars for its gripping story and strong plotline.

The plot is about a nurse Mame Tana whose life is full of nightmares and twists. The protagonist tana had a troubled childhood which led her into drug abuse and many other complications. She falls in love with a widower(a rich guy) of her former patient. The dairy plays a crucial role in her life and it unfolds the insight character of Tana and serves her in survival. The plot is mysterious and narrated well. The cover page is impressive.
Highly recommended to those who love to read psychological thrillers.

When I finished the book, and put together this fact, I was like "If the incidents did really happen, how fucked up do you need to be to go through that?" Of course, the author has also said that she has embellished a few details. But, still, you know. Anyway, the book is a novella consisting of only 197 pages so that you can read it in one sitting (I bet you can't put down the book anyway). The first half of the book will tell you the story as it seems on the outside while the second part reveals the reality. The author is seamlessly connected the two parts and you can hear your brain click like "Oh that's what happened!". Although a few parts could have been written in more details, but I cam forgive that as it is not a full length novel. A movie based on this story, would be perfect to watch. Without revealing too much, kinda reminded me of Gone Girl expect our heroine in this book has may be gone off the deep end. Loved the book. My rating: 4/5

It's a psychological thriller. The protagonist here is named as Tana Sharma who is a nurse and works diligently and has won the title Nurse of the year twice. But her childhood was not at all happening like it used to be for other children. Belonging from a army family she was grown up all disciplined and controlled by her parents. Her relationship with her parents was not at all a friendly one. Her fate changed when she got proposed by a famous business tycoon, who just lost his wife and now claims to love her the most.
The first part of the story is what I felt a bit slow paced but the second part is worth reading for. One will remain hooked till the end. The story is narrated very Descriptively and in the form of dairy written by the protagonist itself. The cover is edgy and the title also seems interesting enough to go for it. The language is more then good. The story unfolds all the mysteries and secrets and it's very gripping to read. Yes definitely recommend to readers out there.

My views-
I have always like books with strong characters, who are complicated in a good way. Tana is one such character. She is a nurse, who meets a rich man, Vikram. He is a widower and is attractive. They built has a strong connection, but Tana's life is changed after meeting him, perhaps, devastated.
To know what actually happened you have to read the book.
It is a short read and the author has detailed everything, from characters to places. The descripiton of Lutyens Bunglow is good, i could imagine the place.
The plot is mysterious. The narration is fast and has necessary twists.
Overall, a good psychological thriller and can be read by all especially beginners in this genre.

The title of the book is the first thing that made me read this book.
This is a story of a girl, named, Tara who is an award winning nurse who has gone through a lot troubles in childhood. But everything seems changed when she met with Vikram. But the thing is there is difference between the love and infatuation.
The readers can enjoy love, emotions and the mystery in the same book!

The story revolves around the female protagonist Tana, a young nurse with a troubled childhood. The plot of the story is interesting and strong. This psychological drama is a perfect blend of thrill, mystery, love,struggle etc which is very well narrated by the author. Language used is lucid. Overall, a bone chilling read which keeps the readers hooked till the end.

I have always been into the twisted covers (coming from a fan of Chuck Palahniu) i really loved this cover and the content too matched thee impression it provides.

It's the best psychological thriller I've read till date. I can't describe how much impact it had on me. I absolutely loved it. The writing style was absolutely amazing, lucid, and beautiful! Well narrated!

Stars given - 4 on 5 stars.
My take on the book-
As someone who is big fan of thrillers this was a good read.
The language of the was very straight forward and the story was nice
The best part about the book was the fact that one had to wait till the last to realise what happens.
You can see things happening but you would not realize whose side you want to be on.
The protagonist was one hell of a character and the supporting ones played well into the plot.
I just had one problem with the story and that was mentioning things like 'a fair hand' or 'chocolate brown throat' sounded a tad bit weird in my opinion otherwise me likey.
Stars given - 4 on 5 stars.

I just had one problem with the story and that was mentioning things like 'a fair hand' or 'chocolate brown throat' sounded a tad bit weird in my opinion otherwise me likey.

It looked promising initially but was monotonous after a while. I was amazed at the absurd and unimaginable turn of events in the story and almost all characters are weird. And the ending was truly unsatisfactory. A disappointing and a strange read.

The story came to the middle where she met Vikram, a rich widower who says she is the ‘love of his life’. The story was quite intriguing for me as it has many plots towards it. It is based on the real life true events which provides us with the new story to read. I have never read a story as amazing as this one which has so much to tell us.
The things I liked :
1) The plot of the story is something which will always remain as the asset for the book.
2) There are 3 parts of the story 1) Part 1 - Me, Part -2 ) Tana's Diary, Part 3) Miss Rose
3) The tittle of the story is very unique and innovative to think which is clearly understood when we read the story.
4) Tana is found to be a self made girl who overcomes her journey.
5) she has gone through alot in her journey her night mare which she goes through was alot that she has faced which never came out no one knows the mystery behind the story.
6) The 3ed part of the story holds more validity when I come across how Tana sharma goes through all the difficulties.
7) There are two characters which hold equal importance Pari, Rosy Shobha Didi, Vikram, Shekhar Sharma.
8) The tittles of the story were very much related and new like Baba baba black sheep, Humpty Dumpty etc.
9) The character of Tana is the most strongest which tells us how to overcome our difficulties and live life..
10) The first time I read her book which made me felt speechless.

It became like a kind of puzzle in my head after reading this marvellous work by an Indian author. It's been few months since I've been working on my debut novel and this Book and it's narration has helped in a truly wonderful way. The way author has maintained every secret till the end right from its title which kept me busy thinking about the connection between the content and the title of this Book.
Books like these are the kind of books readers mainly expect and author has done complete justice to the character and the title.
With page turner performance based work, author has left no stones unturned in this Book. As it's said, 'a chilling psychological thriller' and it's entirely true. The pace goes on pretty well with the way it's narrated in a flashback manner with the help of a diary.
I loved the part when every secret gets unwrapped about the protagonist.
A much worthy read and I will surely suggest readers to go with this book and fall in love again.

The mind is a complex intricate labyrinth of emotions and this is expertly depicted in this psychological thriller. Tana Sharma, a diligent nurse is entrusted with the care of business magnate Vikram Patel’s wife who is terminally ill. She finds herself drawn to the rich man and also sees this as her pathway to a comfortable life with no wanting – something that has evaded her all her life. Despite being successful in her career, her parents have always been critical of her choices never appreciating her little achievements. Meted with the most drastic punishments for little faults, Tana develops a devious mind filled with hatred and twisted thoughts.
Tana eventually marries Vikram but her dreams of a perfect marriage and luxurious life are shattered by her husband’s perverted sexual desires and his almost insane longing for total control and power over her.
The narrative springs surprise after surprise on the readers at the turn of every page and as Tana spirals downward into an unstable emotional state, one wonders can evil be this evil?
Tana’s only respite is her entries into her diaries where she reveals her innermost thoughts and yearnings. Her dissolving sense of reality adds to the complexities of her thoughts and there comes to exist a moral ambiguity in what she is thinking. As readers we question her actions but at the same time sympathize with her helplessness.
Tana’s hallucinations lead her to take some extreme steps to the point that scares the readers and they are forced to think as to what the human mind can be capable of if steered in the wrong direction. The mind at this point is battling for equilibrium with oneself.

I am having goosebumps as I write this Book Review. I am still not able to believe what I just read - An outstanding psychological thriller by an Indian Author. The book kept me on the edge and glued to it till the end.
Rosé's Bent Stem is the story about Tana, a vivacious young nurse who has bagged the 'Nurse of the year' award twice in a row. The story begins with Tana lying in a pool of blood in a bathtub in a delirious state. From here the story goes into a flashback to the day she talks to her parents over the phone and tells them about her award.

What traspires after the news of the award is broken to them is a rollercoaster ride into the life of a dedicated nurse, her childhood, her relationships, the voices in her head and her confessions into her Pink Diary.

The book has an amazing plot, sarcasm in the right measure, mystery which unfolds gradually like the petals of a Rose flower and keeps the reader engrossed in the story. I loved the way Tana communicates with herself and to her diary. A lot of thought process must have gone on the writer's part in sketching those conversations.

The character build up along the story and their lucid descriptions make them extremely real. The descriptions about each scene is vivid yet crisp and provide just the right amount of information to imagine the scene. There are certain gory details which might disgust some readers but those are important to show the psychological build up of the characters.

The best part of the book was the connection between the story and it's unusual title which the author managed to keep a secret beautifully wrapped to be unfolded only by the end. The only downside for me was the way sentences were broken throughout the book into several lines. I am not sure if it was an error or was done purposely to give the feel of one hell of a thriller that the book is.

After the demise of his wife, Vikram confesses his love for Tana. She was sceptical at first but then agrees. Her marriage turns out to be the most unexpected experience of her life. One day she wakes up as a substance abuser, victim of domestic violence and often blacks out. In another part of the book, some mysteries unfold which showcases totally a different perspective of the story.
Review:
Being a psychological Thriller it was an adventurous experience for me. I love reading this kind of genre because of its impact on the reader. I completely loved this book because this book has the power to keep you hooked from the beginning to the end. It actually gave me goosebumps. As it is a psychological Thriller it definitely plays with your mind and leaves the reader disturbed but that's what it takes to make it a good read. I can absolutely not say that I was able to relate with any of the characters because I am not a psycho 😅 and we are able to relate with the characters only when we have faced the situation same as characters and this kind of thing has never happened to me. The writing style js just the icing on the cake and very easy to read and understand. The second section of the book is a highlight for me. The characters have been so magnificently portrayed that you can experience and feel you are involved with the characters in every moment. The title, cover, concept everything is just amazing.
Recommendation:
I would recommend this book to all the psychological thriller lovers and all readers who want to try something new or won't mind getting a little disturbed 😉

This has to be one of the strangest books I have ever read, and that's saying a lot! There is not a single likable person in the entire story. Everyone is critical, demeaning, and/or crazy. Granted, the story is told from inside Tana's head for the most part, so allowances must be made. But even considering that fact everybody is horrible. I found myself thinking that if Pri were my friend I would be living the cliche, "With friends like that, who needs enemies". Also, the portions of the story where Tana is getting her "medications" and when she is in the morgue just made my skin crawl. As a retired nurse, the license the author took with hospital protocol was ludicrous. I find it hard to believe that even in the more humble parts of India this would go on, much less in the large, metropolitan city of Delhi.
Then we have the issue of grammar and syntax. I don't know if the book was translated into English and the job was poorly done, or if English is the author's second language and they (I don't know if the author is male or female. I'm sorry.) are not well-versed. Whichever it is, the book should have been edited much more carefully. There were wrong words, missing words, awkward phraseology. etc.
The other major issue I have is the ending or should I say, the lack thereof because there isn't one. It just stops. A major incident takes place and the author shows Tana's reaction to it somewhat and then you (the reader) suddenly realize that that's it; there is no more. A very unsatisfactory ending in my opinion. In fact, if I hadn't been reading for a review group I would have given up before I got halfway through this book. As it is, I wish I had those hours of my life back.

Humans are not isolated, they need someone to share their feelings and their memories.
During childhood we stay close to our Parents and they are the ones who know us better.
As we grow up, we make friends and share the things with them.
But when a person has no one, a simple diary takes everyone's place.
"Rose bent stem" is truly a psychological thriller.
Tana, a nurse by profession but a person suffering from mental disorder as well.
It is divided into three parts.
The first part narrates about Tana and other characters with the situations.
In the second part readers will understand the story with the Tana's point of view through her diary.
The story has depicted Tana's thoughts and her actions very strongly.
As the story unfolds we can understand that since childhood Tana was suppressed.
It seems like she never got chance to live a life the way she wanted to live and it continues even after her marriage, turning her into a person that surely none of us wish to become.
Indeed Tana's diary spoke so much that after certain point of time readers can connect with the protagonist of this story Tana and it is scary.
The story highlights certain facts ;
⏩We really can not predict a person.
⏩One can not understand what goes inside a person's mind.
⏩One can not see what happens inside the closed doors.
Language is easy to understand.
Narration was good.
Characters are well plotted.

Review- Rose's Bent Stem is a psychological thriller. 'It's based on a true event' this alone is the horrifying fact of this book. The narration is really commendable. The vocabulary used is very rich and could literally imagine the things written. The beginning of the book is really amazing and the jump between the past and present has been done very well. It's really insane that the story mentioned in this book is based on true events. The characters Tana and her condition is horrifying. The story and narration have a command and keeps the reader hooked until the suspense is out. Those who love thriller and an added on spice of such horrific events in it is a great match for them. I really loved reading it and the thing which I liked the most is the vocabulary ofcourse. Rich in thriller events and rich in vocabulary is all I can say about this book. The character Tana has always had a restricted childhood due to his father and after growing up and having a separate life again she ia caged in life. The state of the character is and the descriptions of the surroundings is really amazing. Mystery is sprinkled over the story with the doubtful character Vikram Patel. With every page the story gets more intense and gives chilling vibes. The cover page really suits the story line. Vocabulary was too high but actually goes with the quality of story.

The state of the character is and the descriptions of the surroundings is really amazing. Mystery is sprinkled over the story with the doubtful character Vikram Patel. With every page the story gets more intense and gives chilling vibes. The cover page really suits the story line. Vocabulary was too high but actually goes with the quality of story.

This is a psychological thriller book. The story revolves around Tana - a nurse who used to take care of Vikram's first wife since she was severely sick. Tana is intelligent, independent and.. a 'strong' character having endured a lot in her childhood due to her parents indifference towards her life choices. But what she does is a typical mistake (don't we all?). She falls in love with Vikram and his wife dies due to the disease. Both share an immense amount of physical attraction towards each other (which I am assuming Tana might have mistaken it for love). Hardly knowing each other for a longer time, they both get married quickly.
And then the story unfolds. It has flashbacks, drugs, blackouts experienced by the main character, wrong doings, a diary that helps in knowing more about Tana, suspense building up and a hooking story which makes you sit on the edge of your seat.
The writing seems a bit chop-ey in the beginning, there seems to be a little less smooth transition from one scene to another. I had to go back and read again. However further into the book it seems to be getting better.
Overerall the book is gripping and a very good read for people who love thriller. I was hooked on reading this book.

You never know what is going on in someone's head, and this psychological thriller is the epitome of that statement. Tana, a young nurse finds herself in the arms of a rich widower who calls her the 'love of his life'. Lutyens Bungalow is the house of dreams but what happens within closed doors in a lesser known fact. But a bigger mystery is the thoughts in a person's mind. What would happen when Tana's past comes to haunt her?
'Rosé's... Bent Stem' was a gripping thriller. From the very beginning I was pulled into an adventure, I wasn't ready for. Tana's character was written with intense conviction. You could actually understand the darkness that goes on in a person's mind. The personal diary section was my favourite, and the most shocking portion of the novel. To me, the afterword was scarier than the entire novel. The author, Nomita Khanna, scared the life out of me with that. It was so well written.
The only flaws were the book cover, which wasn't in par with the narrative of the book, and the repetition of events from the first to the second section. While I understood the need of that. It was still a repetition that made me skip certain sections of the book.
Overall, I definitely recommend this book to people who would enjoy an amazing psychological thriller. The readers are asked to be discreet since there are some gory scenes. Also, definitely do not judge the book by its cover.

Tana , a nurse , has had a troubled childhood and falls in love with a widower of her former patient (Yes , I was thinking what you are too , but don't judge the character so quickly , read the book to find more) . Ohh , Did I mention? The guy is Rich. Like RICH.
Long story short (no spoilers) they get married . And like many Indian love marriages thier relationship changes. But this one is too much. The story behind on the first anniversary of Vikram(the husband) and Tana where she wakes up from a blackout . Beaten up. And slowly the book goes two years in the past .
The USP of the book is the writing style which I liked . The only major thing that I didn't like was that the story didn't connect very much even if it is based on real events but one thing because of this is that the storyline is completely unpredictable. The title will make sense once you go deep into the book.
I would recommend the book to anyone getting into psy-thriller genre. To regulars it is a definite one time Read.

A complete surprise package for me
This book is my favourite genre mystery and psychological thriller based on true events.
It is my second book by Nomita so expectations are high and this book totally met with my expectation because the writing quality,the language and plot which is high standards and I'm not at all feeling like reading a new Author,Her writing is matured and sensitive.
Story is about Tana Sharma a nurse belong to a army family and having very disciplined childhood which she didn't like at all.she married a big business tycoon Vikram Patel after his wife death.she loves to write diary and mentioned every detail in diary to remember everything.
First part of the diary is slow and like an introduction of the characters and a very happy one. But after second part story is just turned upside down and with each page it unfolds a lot of secrets and mysteries and keep you on your toes and I felt glued to book. I can't reveal much here so you have to read this book. It gives me goosebumps through out.At one point of time i feel like I'm watching a movie because each scene and character are very clear and concise and narrated beautifully.
It's an easy read you can finish it in one go.

It is a suspense psychological thrillers based on true events.
As I started to read this book, I was confused as to what was happening. But later on as the story picked up, it literally gave me the chills.
The protagonist , Tana is a nurse with a very troubled childhood. She soon finds herself a rich widower ( who's wife she was tending to) in love with her, and they rush into marriage. Soon this fairytale takes a dark dark turn as Tana's childhood misery starts hauntung her. Tana is also a drug addict, ineffect of which she turns she does things she is later not aware of. Miss Rosè is her diary, in which keeps a tab of everything so when she had drug-induced amnesia, she can look back and read.
The diary entry is critical and gives an complete insight to what is happening inside Tana. She has been betrayed by every person and that has taken a toll on her mentally. The fact that it is based on true story is horrific. Terrible childhood of hers led her into drug abuse and that lead into so many unfortunate events.
I would really like to appreciate here the author's strong command on the language and the vocabulary used.
All in all is a great read. It would put you into thinking how a disturbed childhood can alter and ruin/ scar you for life.
