What would a mother be willing to do to rescue her children?
What Line would she cross to find and protect them?
All of them…she would cross all the lines.
Lila Duncan fought her way over the Rocky Mountains to get back to her kids. She made it through the gruelling elevation changes of the mountains. Pushed through the injuries she sustained from her accident. Lived to tell the tale of a grizzly bear encounter and escaped from a raging forest fire to make it home. Finding her kids missing and her home empty, Lila now has to change from being just a determined mother to something else. She will need to be a soldier, a mercenary, and be willing to cross any Line to get them back because she has to face her biggest challenge so far…a city that has descended into madness.
Theresa Shaver lives in South Central Alberta Canada. As an avid reader, I used to dream about writing and sharing my own stories with the world. Publishing was a far off and intimidating goal until Amazon opened the gates! I love that I get real feed back from my fans on my books instead of some guy behind a desk who studies market trends. I write to share my dreams with the world and now I can. My first series is a Young Adult Post-apocalypse story. I love writing about the growth of characters faced with such huge challenges and plan to continue future stories in wrecked worlds. It's a new do it yourself world in so many industries so never stop believing in your dreams and do it yourself!
In this second book of the series, the author tells the story from the kid's POV since their separation from their father in addition to Lila's quest to locate her children. At Lila's brother-in-law's home, she finds out that her husband and mistress left the kids behind in the city. Brad's girlfriend is guilt-stricken and asked to accompany Lila on her search for the kids. She reluctantly agrees, and the two of them head toward the city.
There are some 'edge of your seat' times in both stories and readers will not be able to stop reading until the confrontations are over. Of course, this installment ends in another cliff-hanger. I did purchase the final book in the series to see how the story finally concludes.
I would have given 5 stars and didn't because of the number of typos in the story which caused me some pause before moving on. They were real words but used in the wrong context. It's a good series, so far, and I'd recommend it to all.
The Line is the second book in this great series. It is very realistic and tells the struggle of a mother separated from her two children when solar flares destroy most electrical devices, crash planes, permanently disrupt communications and prevent modern cars from working. A distance of 700 miles separates mother and children and nothing is going to stop this determined woman. Her husband meantime, tries to travel on bikes with the kids in tow and loses them in a mob. Needless to say when his wife finds out he failed to even look for them she is not happy.
Lila is one tough cookie! Her kids are pretty savvy too. I wouldn’t pay a dollar for Brad and sincerely hope at some point he grows up into a better person. The suspense in this story is breathtaking all the way through, with a couple of smallish twists to keep the reader on their toes. Excellent second book!
The author really involved the reader with the rich characters, your heart breaks for the two children. The mothers dogged determination draws you into the plot. Recommend this series and have already purchased the next one.
Loved this book. Had to force myself to go to bed last night. Didn’t want to stop reading. I pre-ordered the next book. I don’t know how I’m going to wait until May 31st. I believe I’ve read everything written by this author.
This is a mother's love out to save her babies. And the dirty excuse for a dad is getting his due. So exciting, and scary for the children I could barely stop reading . Past bedtime, I love/hate a page turner.
What an exciting book from the first page to the last with endearing characters and an action packed plot. Noah is an amazing young boy, so brave and determined to protect his little sister. I hope the third book is available. Happy ☺reading 📚!
This one was mostly in the kids point of view. As as not to spoil it, near the end mom should have! Read it, you’ll know what I mean. On to the next one now. Binge reading.
The personal loss will be the biggest loss if an apocalypse actually happens. Theresa brought that point out so very easy in this book. Great story and a great cast. I recommend reading.
Well written story with many familiar places seen in a different way. I enjoyed the story very much & will continue to read the next installment when it comes out.
I love that this book took on the viewpoint of Lila's children. To see the other side, their sheer belief she would find them just shows the power of mothers love.
1.5 stars. Well maybe a bit better. I'm actually not sure what to think. Now I've just decided to finish this. I honestly thought that this was a rh, and that would have brought something more to the story, but unfortunately no.
