Ever
I fell in love with Memphis when I was five years old.
I spent our whole lives planning the perfect moment to tell him how I felt. When that night finally came, my best friend . . . the man I thought loved me in return . . . did the last thing I expected— he left.
Memphis abandoned me when I needed him the most, and as the years went by, I came to despise him.
Now, he’s back and the contestant of a local dating show— while living under the same roof as me.
As much as I want to keep hating Memphis, the more I get to know him again, the more I want to be one of the girls on the show.
When Memphis finally comes clean about why he left, I’m not sure if it’s going to heal us or rip us apart all over again.

Memphis
My entire life is one giant mess up. One questionable decision after the other.
Loving Ever is not one of them, though.
The night she finally poured her heart out to me, I should have taken her in my arms and never let her go. Instead, I turned my back on her and broke her heart.
It’s been forever, but I’m back home, trying to clean up my image with the help of a dating show, and living right down the hall from the woman who’s held my heart and soul since before I was old enough to realize I had either.
Working my way back into her life and her heart means coming clean about what happened the night I shattered her . . .
I’m terrified of losing her all over again.

This guy was awful! What he did to her I can never understand her forgiving him!

Spoilers
Def NOT SAFE
He is a true manwhore. Even after meeting h again he sleeps with ow and has blow jobs. Granted they were not together but he was starting to have feelings for h. She off course remained a virgin because she always wanted him even though he was with nasty ow who bullied her all through school while he just watched. Heroine was meant to have been his best friend but he let not only his girlfriend but his friends bully her and not defend her. He married ow and left h when she really needed him. He caused h to have an accident and instead of checking on her he called the ambulance and then just drove off with his girlfriend!! So in the present not only does he sleep with ow but after he takes h’s virginity, h finds out he was the cause of her accident and the fact that he didn’t even bother to pay for her recovery she understandably gets really upset and storms off. He thinks she broke up with him and a day or so later he sleeps with another woman!!
All this while professing how much he loves h and maybe always has.
This guy was truly nasty and after what he did and his cowardly behaviour he could never redeem himself. He was not a man but a mouse. I can’t believe her family and friends were encouraging her to forgive him!
Worst book of this year so far. I can’t believe this crap is meant to be a romance!

I just loved Ever and Memphis they were just fantastic characters these two were childhood best friends and she was in love with him after she told him he left breaking her heart and he knew he had made a mistake leaving her. Now he is back in his hometown filming a dating show. This was a great read it was well written and you can't help but root for these two.

This was a good first book by this author. I will definitely read the others. Ever has loved Memphis since she was five, but when she confessed, everything went downhill. After five years, Memphis is coming home to clean up his image by doing a reality dating show. His agent and best friend have something else up their sleeves. What could it be? There is drama, angst, a chance to right the wrongs and some twists along the way. I loved this story and the characters you get to meet. I can’t wait to read the next book.

Memphis and Ever's Story . . .

Ever went to the fair to tell her best friend that she loved him. His girlfriend Skye shoved her, called her names, and knocked her to the ground. Since her best friend, Memphis, was her ride home and had not defended her while this was happening… she started the long walk home and was run over by a car. Months of surgery later, they repaired her damaged face. They never did find out who ran her over. And her dad is still paying for the costly surgeries.

Ever’s dad told her they had a potential new client for their catering business. It could get them plenty of money to pay her surgical bills. And this time, he wants her to come to the meeting with him. They will be filming a dating show competing to date some sports guy, a fighter. Their client walks in, her Uncle Sal and his partner, Brick, she knew in high school. And her uncle told her Memphis Bradford was his client. Memphis, her best friend back then, never bothered to check on her in the hospital, disappeared, and never kept in contact. It was apparent that she didn’t matter to him. When they went to their old house, all their farm animals were being moved back in. The contestants will have to “work” on the farm at some task. It should be interesting and amusing, fishing for dinner, milking cows, gathering eggs.

When Memphis arrives, he and Brick saddle up some horses to ride and Memphis falls off. A beautiful woman with gray eyes talks to him briefly, but Brick wouldn’t tell him who she was, just that he would meet the ladies for the show the next day. But the woman was still on his mind and she seemed familiar. And for Ever, all her old feelings started to come back. Even she doesn’t know why she still cares. Will Memphis ever apologize to her? Will he ever realize that she might still love him?

There is so much going on in this story, and mystery as to whether the hit and run driver was random or known? Grab your copy and see the rest of the competition, who is eliminated, and whether Skye will be causing lots more trouble.

Ever's Last by Cedar Rose is a heartfelt emotional love story about two people who have known each other for years but when a tragic event happens their lives will change and friendships will be broken. The characters of Memphis and Ever will tug at your heart as Ever has a chance at a new beginning with all she had to endure but has never forgotten Memphis who was and is the love of her life since she was five years old. Memphis is having a hard time with his image as a MMA fighter with all of the fights he starts as well as his womanizing due to his ex, his agent has had enough and tells him he needs to change. Now he is forced to do a reality show but things are not what they seem as he will come face to face with all of the women he was with including his ex who damaged him, but his agent has another reason for Memphis to return home. When he notices Ever for the first time he sees she has changed and is more beautiful and caring than he remembered, now these two are thrown together as they reveal the love they have always felt for each other. But before they can be together, apologies must be made as well as a secret must be revealed. But will this secret Memphis is harboring destroy his chances with Ever? Will Ever forgive him? This was a beautiful written love story as well as the other characters who play a integral part in their lives. Now Memphis will have to prove his love to Ever and make amends to all of the women he has hurt to win her forever. This is one book that should not be overlooked, you will not be disappointed. You will laugh and cry as this story had it all; drama, forgiveness and twists and turns but most of all Ever's Last is a stirring story about everlasting love between two soulmates.

I was not impressed with Memphis. He was horrific. Ever did not deserve to be treated the way he treated her. She had been through a lot and put herself out there and was treated worse than the dirt on his shoes. She could have done much better. Ever should have set her sights higher. She settled for Memphos. He did not deserve her.

voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

This is the first book in the Chicken Fried Love series and my first book by this author, I really enjoyed this story that is filled with plenty of drama and emotion, I have to say that Memphis is the least likable hero I've read in a long time, luckily he realizes what he's lost when he left Ever behind and works hard to get the love of his life back.

Well written story, interesting intriguing storyline, the characters are incredibly likable. I will definitely be reading more by this author.

This is my first book by this Ceder Rose and is will not be by my last. Ever's Last put me on such a emotional roller coaster with all the twist and turns, ups and down that the character went through. This story has heartbreak, tragedy, pain, suffering, bullying , love, passion, redemption, kindness, family and heart.

Memphis and Ever were best friends, even though they were several years apart. The day Ever went to tell Memphis her feeling, tragedy hit. Ever almost lost her life and lost her best friend. Years later they are brought back together, both of the have changed, one not for the better. After searching deep within himself, Memphis found what he truly wanted.

Ever was an amazing written character with a huge heart . Her story would have made anyone angry, but instead she encouraged, helped other and wish them the best.

Grab your tissues and your heart and enjoy this heart felt book.

Confusing, inconsistent, and poorly written.

The plot is there but it’s kinda like the author was in a rush to get it over with. Things don’t develop in this book - they just HAPPEN. There no easing into anything, you’re just thrown into the MC’s dating show. They then don’t speak to each other for the first 25% and when they do, there’s no angst.

Also how old are these people? The MC says at the beginning that he’s “barely 30” and then a few chapters later we find out he’s almost 33 lol.

Also — what’s the deal with Ever getting hot after her accident? That was never really explained

Also also — hit & run. This was definitely the most unrepentant hero ever. He said he felt bad but again, without the character development it mostly seemed like he wasn’t remorseful so much as self-deprecating about it. In his apology to the heroine’s dad for running her over and then leaving her on the side of the road, he said he felt guilty but that he was young and dumb. Thank god the dad had the brain cells to say “Um no, Ever was 18. YOU were 28.”

Just a very dumb book.

Ever and Memphis were best friends and working up the nerve to tell him her true feelings was a night she'll never forget. It changed her emotionally and physically.

He ran away and became a fighter. Sure he married but not to who it should have been. After that didn't work, he became a huge manwhore. His agent and friends decide to show him home is where the heart is and it's time he realizes that.

Filming a dating show with a twist. Half the women are ones he's been with, 1 ex wife and it's filmed where his childhood friend lived.

I loved this whole cast of characters. The bad needed to wake this man up. Ever will melt your heart and her vibe just lights up. Memphis took some time. He imo was a chicken and the irony of becoming a fighter isn't lost. I like that he had to earn her heart again.

If by the end, when we get to see into their crystal ball I was a crying mess. Both happy and sad. I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.

What an amazing read! This is a new author to me and the first book from her and I really enjoyed it and look forward to what’s coming next. I loved Ever and Memphis they truly are meant to be. These two have been friends forever and when feelings come into the mix and Ever wants to share her feelings their lives take a turn and Memphis leaves and heads out towards his career. Leaving was the biggest mistake ever and when he is brought back to his home town and faced with seeing Ever all he wants is to make things right and be with the one he should’ve been with all along. Will Ever see it that way? Can she forget all the hurt and pain and let him back in? She’s not the same girl she was, And Memphis will have to break down the walls to get her back. Loved it! The show happens to be filmed at Ever's family farm and a little bit more about Ever is that she is a barrel racer and she joins the show and she learns the truth about what happened the night of the accident. Ever is a country girl who fell for her best friend but on the night she told him how she felt she died. She was hit by a car and had to have multiple surgeries. Memphis was young and stupid so when Ever professed her love for him and was humiliated by his then girlfriend Skye he did nothing. Five years later he needs to revamp his image in order to save his boxing career so his manager, Ever's Uncle Sal proposes a reality dating show. Memphis is not thrilled when he learns that the show is being filmed in Ever's family homestead. Memphis soon realizes that he has feelings for Ever but will she feel the same when she learns the truth?

Great story. The characters were wonderful. I could picture every scene and the story line was unexpected.

thoroughly enjoyed this story,I loved the whole thing.
Ever gave her all to everyone never looking at the bad in people, when she bares her soul to the one person she thought would be there for her he throws her to the wolves. With her heart in tatters and holding on by a thread she leaves, not knowing what would happen next would change her world.
Memphis got everything he wanted his career as an MMA fighter and he was good,he got his high school sweetheart. Yet getting what you want dosen't always make you happy. When he is faced with his wifes infidelety he goes' of the rails and beds every woman he meets.
Mean while Ever is still living her simple but unhappy life knowing that she will never have the man she truly loves.

As teenagers we all make mistakes. Mistakes we regret, mistakes that forever change our lives. How many times do we get a second chance to right a wrong? Sometimes never. Thankfully for Memphis, he gets that chance.

Having lived her life making everyone else happy will Ever finally find what truly makes her heart joyful?

Ever’s Last is Cedar Rose’s debut book. She is kicking down the door into the romance world. Her characters, main and side, draw you in and make you feel at home. You will see characteristics of people you know. You will want to crawl into Ever’s Last and become their  neighbor. Cedar shows a side of small town life that is easily relatable, welcoming and comfortable. The flow of the book is so natural.

Rose uses humor to get you laughing and lock you in.

Memphis and Ever will drag you in and make you want to stay. They will make you laugh. They will make you go through every emotion there is. Yes you may need Kleenex. Cedar Rose is a name to keep your eye on.

I always love a good redemption story and this was a new author so I figured I would give it a shot. Well, there were things I liked, primarily the female lead, Ever and her friends. I usually enjoy a guy that changes from rude to a sweetheart because of a woman. Memphis, the male lead gets better, sorta but was just too much of a self absorbed a-hole. He was saying the right things but it didn't feel completely genuine. I didn't feel like he was really sorry for all that he had done. I would have been fine with the story until the epilogue. I didn't expect it as it is quite different from what I normally see in a romance and frankly, made me sad. I think Ms Rose has talent and I was very engaged with characters. I just need more groveling from a guy who screwed up as much as he did.

I just don't understand why everybody feel this book is good..The hero is a monster.Period..An accompliance in bullying and for that he is rewarded with ..Yup .you got it right ...The virginal heroine whom he almost killed with his girlfriend (ow) not to mention he ran away leaving her to her fate..The heroine is so weak she still is begging him for his love and attention and feels she should be the one to win his heart by competing with others.I really would love to clap for one of the contestants in the story who slaps the hero even thpugh she is made a brat here. The heroine should learn something from that woman .But Alas!!true love my mates!!

Memphis is a boxer who has had crappy luck with women. Add bar fights to that and his agent is ready to toss him.. When he is told he has to do a reality dating show back in his home town the last thing he wants to do is go home and find a woman on some stupid show. But Ever is there and while she truly has his heart he would never let her know that. Now with this show he is opening up and wanting more but Ever has waited long enough for Memphis.. Can he finally be the man she always dreamed of

I do believe this is the first book written by this author but I could be wrong. This is also first time in reading this author. It is one of those that they have a history and now it is the second chance I do not think they were going to get and will they screw it up. That is what reading this will answer. Ever is the one who catches me first but then there is Memphis who gets my ear. Sometimes guys can be such goof balls. This one will also it seems be the first in a series. They both had there share of life's turmoil but now we follow to see if the heart wins.

Ever's Last is the first book in the Chicken Fried Love series and is a great start to this new series.

The characters in this story are well developed and have a past friendship together that was destroyed by his callousness. The storyline is well written, heartbreaking and emotional. Will Ever and Memphis have a second chance for love or will the truth keep them apart?

This is the first book I have read by this author and I look forward to reading more.

I enjoyed Ever and Memphis' story! It's an emotional roller coaster read and definitely worth reading. The story is about childhood friends. He is older than her but she was very mature for her age. One night she goes to tell him she loves him but his girlfriend call her names and hits her. While crying and walking home she is hit by a car and spends months in the hospital recovering. He hurt her in so many ways. This story is about second chances and finding redemption. Overall, a nicely developed and written story.

This is my first time reading this author and was not disappointed. Ever and Memphis story is a roller coaster of past issue, current issues, and how to move on and love each other again. I think one of my favorite part is the background “family” that see what they can be and push them to fix themselves!! Great read and can’t wait for the next!

Ever and Memphis will have your head and your heart all over the place. This story is highly emotional, beautiful, heartbreaking, and romantic. Right from the start to the very end you won't be able to stop reading. You will laugh, cry. What makes two people drift apart and not see or talk to each other for years? Read and find out what the twist and turns are.amazing read and can't wait to read the next.

Cedar Rose, you have managed to make me a lifer. Your words grabbed onto my heart and haven’t let go. Thank you.

Ever was in a bad accident five years ago and went through hell but she came out on top. Only thing missing was her best friend, the man who owned her heart. Now he is back and living under the same roof. Will they finally get there second chance or will the past come back to bite them??

I can’t wait for the next book in this series!! 🖤🖤

A great first time read from a good author, the story line grabs your attention from the first page to the last.
It shows that true friendship can grow even if there are issues that force the people apart for a time.
Ever and Memphis have a true connection that most real couples do not. They love and hate equally. But, in the end they come together and realize just what they have and how precious it truly is.
