In their star-studded memoir, 'Hollywood Lights, Nashville Nights', coauthors Victoria Hallman and Diana Goodman are the first of the iconic Hee Haw Honeys to write about their lives as the glamour gals of TV's longest-running syndicated variety show.
This work is by two of the television show Hee Haw's Honeys, written in four parts two each by Victoria Hallman and Diana Goodman. If you are a fan of Country Music, Elvis, Buck Owens, Holly Gossip or Nashville News, this book will be for you. It is hard to discuss it without giving away some of the spoilers contained within its cover. It is a easy read and a real page turner, you never know what the next page will bring. It was like reading a TV reality show, before there were any. All the diverse players it mentions, Movie Stars, Behind the Scenes Deal Makers, even musicians and hanger-ons, all that makes this a truly good read. A great book for the 50 and over crowd, students of late 20th century Hollywood and Nashville culture. The entertainment industry, and even the beginnings of the use of video in the music industry. Would make a great College Reference book too. This is truly the story of two young women one from Alabama and one from Georgia and their lives that made them stars. Warning: Some sections contain graphic language, sexual references, reference to drug use and other adult subjects.
The writing was good but the content was not what I was expecting. I thought there would be more behind the scenes, making of Hee Haw. A show I grew up watching and loving. It is more about their personal lives. Apparently I didn’t read the description wet well. Gotta hand it to them, they were definitely on a rollercoaster! Narration was good. I like when the authors do it themselves.
