Deadly Payback is a British Police Procedural with a medical thriller element set in the City of London.
This is the sixth book in the DS Jack Mackinnon series by author D.S Butler. I really enjoy the Karen Hart series by the same author but to be honest it has taken me awhile to really get into this series. Now six books in I really enjoy the lead character Jack Mackinnon and the series in general. A good solid police procedural with good characters and interesting plots.
Two murders with no obvious connections other than the bloated disfigured remains. The victims a top literary agent and a personal trainer and Detective Sergeant Mackinnon must find the connection and stop the killer before they strike again.
This one was one of my favorites by this author. Actually I really have liked them all! The story keeps moving along and it’s hard to put down. I’m just going to be sad when I finish all her books! Hopefully more will be coming out. I do like this series a lot. Jack Mackinnon is an interesting character and I also like Charlotte a lot. They seem like real people.
I just love this series and sad to be starting the last one. They keep your interest but not too gory or over the top. Well done D S Butler for another great read. Thank you
Good read. Good story excellent twists. Recommended. Good armchair sleuth material. Looking forward to reading the next one. Story stands o it's own. Don't need to read the others in series.
Loved this story, it was so frightening. It had all the ingredients to scare and keep me reading.. It may not suit people with particular phobia. However it certainly suited me. On to the next book.📃
Get another brilliant read. Definitely another one for the shelf. The problem with these type of series they are like soaps and you want to start reading the next one to find out what happens to the characters
Book 6 starring D'S Jack MacKinnon and another instalment about the perils of being a officer on the streets of London. Very addictive I would definitely recommend to those who like this kind of book .
A definite five stars. I just wish whoever is responsible would stop using Americanisms in what is an English book, with English characters and set in London and written by an English author.
The expression is "got into trouble" NOT "gotten into trouble" etc.
A gripping story well told with a hell of a twist at the end. A good way to highlight the evils of bullying and of not listening to the bullied and who not to be surprised when the bullied finally strikes back before it’s too late.
Another excellent story by D S Butler in the Back MacKinnon series. All the usual characters and a very good storyline. Kept mg e gripped from start to finish.Looking forward to reading more.
Each book if D S Butler just gets better and better I can’t say too much or it would be a spoiler but it’s a definitely good read couldn’t put it down a MUST read
I didn't think i would like the MacKinnon series but i love it who would have thought a women was the killer a great read and looking forward to the next one.
Another fantastic rollacoster of a storey unfolds drawing you in more and more believable characters first-class plot keeps you guessing until the last page
Brilliant read, good storyline. It didn’t take long to read, just started next one in series. I only read In the late evening and on long train journeys. Thoroughly enjoyed it though.
