She’s a spoiled shopaholic with daddy issues. He’s a socially conscious vegetarian who doesn’t hide his disdain for people who come from the trappings of wealth. Of course, none of that would have mattered if Chloe could have just left her summer fling with Chase behind her without a glance back—something that will prove impossible when the consequences of that fling rear their head. Particularly one consequence; one with ten fingers, ten toes, and the potential to turn Chloe’s privileged life upside down.
But deciding what to do about her unexpected pregnancy is only one of Chloe’s problems. When Chase moves in across the hall, pretending that their one night together didn’t mean anything will be the hardest thing she’s ever had to do. Especially when that night meant more to her than she’d ever want to admit out loud. Chase is determined to make her see that they could be so much more than a mindless fling; and a girl who’s used to getting her way will find Chase’s determination hard to resist when love is at stake.

The second book in Sharing Spaces is a great continuation from the first, V-Card. The author tackles a touchy subject: unwanted pregnancy, and does it with class.

Chloe is a spoiled, rich brat, who frankly, I felt a bit sorry for, regardless of her hard exterior. Below that is just a girl who craves the love her parents never gave her. It's hard to imagine that she finds her match in Chase, a tree-hugging earthy type. There couldn't be two different people in the world, yet, they work well together.

Without giving anything away, I will say the chemistry between the two is super-cute and fun as they bumble their way through an unexpected pregnancy.

We also get a glimpse into the next Sharing Spaces book, as each of these room mates tries to find their place in life as they go through their own personal trials and tribulations. Thankfully, they all have each other.

The Sharing Spaces series is a wonderful and funny glimpse into the college life of room mates, and I can't wait for more.

I was given a copy of this book by the author for my honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

Overall ★★★☆☆
Performances ★★★☆☆
I was not happy to see Marami Hung, the original narrator from book 1, not return for book 2. Rachel Jacobs took risks and chose very distinctive voices for each character. I didn’t like all of them, but overall, she did a good job.
Story ★★★☆☆
This new adult romance tackled a very serious issue in an informative and relatively non-biased manner. I wasn’t super crazy about a couple of decisions Chloe made, but I liked Chase and his personality enough to balance out my irritation with Chloe. And, I also genuinely enjoyed the ongoing roommates’ camaraderie first introduced in V-Card (Sharing Spaces, #1) by Alicia Michaels .

Coming up next:

I binge listened to all 3 standalone novels in audiobook format, so I’ve already read Thin (A New Adult Contemporary Romance) (Sharing Spaces Book 3) by Alicia Michaels .

Brat is the second book in the Sharing Spaces series, and follows Jenn's(from V-Card) friend Chloe this time. Chloe has a little problem, and it comes in the form of the hot, environmental conscious Chase. After meeting while on holiday, Chloe and Chase clash almost immediately. But they soon learn there's a fine line between love and hate, and end up having a one-night stand. Which leads to an unexpected pregnancy..

Another cute book in this series. I find these books so fun and they're quite fast-paced so you can breeze through them in one sitting. I feel like I didn't really know Chloe in the first book, except that she was the stereotypical rich bitch who was kind of mean. It was refreshing for this book to be told from her perspective and for us to learn that she's not really like that. I ended up really loving her, and Chase. Woo, what a man. . Just a fun book.

I got an ARC from the author because I begged her so much for it after reading her novella Beauty and the Brain in the Hot Summer Nights Anthology.
Brat is the continuation of Beauty and the Brain. Chloe meets Chase while on a hot summer vacation. They end up some place pretty romantic and one thing leads to another.
Chloe comes back to Texas and finds out her one night ends up in a pregnancy. She is still a young woman and just not sure what she wants to do.
Just as she is making her decision, Chase comes back into her life.
Brat really covers subjects that are not discussed much in general. Ms. Michaels also covers a topic that can cause a lot emotions and discussions. She did just an amazing job with the whole story.
There were a few times I wanted to put this book down. Tears were running down my face a few times within the story. But I also had to remember that this is a book of fiction and Alicia Michaels did her research on it to make it seem real.
I loved this book. I really wish I could give it more then 5 stars and I have to give Alicia Michaels a lot of credit for discussing a topic that many people have their own opinion on.
V-Card (book 1) is available now and is a great first book in the Sharing Spaces series. Brat will be released very soon.

I received a copy of Brat by Alicia Michaels in exchange for an honest review. Book 2 in the series. Alicia picks up with the same characters only welcoming Chase into the family. They kids go to the rainforest for a trip. Chloe who the story happens to be about hence the Brat title seems she is a spoiled Brat. This is her story. While down in the rainforest Chloe meets Chase and they have a one time fling. That one time fling changes their lives forever. Hence, why I like this story cause Alicia keeps it so real life. With roommates going through changes Jenn and Luke move out into their own place. Chase moves in. Kinsley ends up with her own problems she faces. The story of Chloe and Chase was done in a great way where they touch on topic of abortion, adoption and keeping their baby. Plus Chloe ends up getting a reality check when her parents disown her. She really learns what life is all about. Excellent story and I can not wait for book 3.

This was such a fun book! But full of emotion and growth. Chloe is full of attitude, spoiled rotten and more than proud of it. She has not time for love or relationships, has her friends and that's all she needs. Until she meets Chase on summer vacation. He annoys her so much, in just the right ways. They have an amazing fling and now it's back to reality.....until the summer fun follows you home. Chole may have met her match and is about to go for the ride of a lifetime. A lot of controversial and real life situations that really make you think about the choices we have to make in life. I was surprised with V-Card and loved it, and Alicia Michaels has done it again in Sharing Spaces book 2. Such sensitive subjects handled with such grace and yet so entertaining ;)

I received an ARC of this book from the author. The book is currently in the editing process so I can not comment on how the final piece is edited. As for the story, I absolutely loved it! Chloe is a spoiled brat and Chase is her polar opposite so of course they are attracted to each other. It was great to get to see Jenn and Luke again. I love the friendships in this book. The way they all have each others back is endearing. There are some tough decisions that Chloe has to make in this book and I believe in the end she made the best choices she could for herself. I recommend this to anyone who loves a realistic romance with ups and downs, emotional choices, second chances, and amazing friendships!

A great short read about a spoiled rich daddy's girl meets a determined and hardworking man. Chloe and Chase first meet during a summer vacation and have a small little fling. Summer is over and back to the grindstone of college. Upon settling in Chole and her friends get a new room mate Chase. Oh, boy is this gonna be fun or what.
Their is alot that goes on in this book and a lot of issues that are solved by not only Chloe and Chase but by all of their friends. A Great coming of age (adult hood) book. i don't want to give too much of the book away. I do recommend this book for college age students who think they are ready to become a real adult!

I was given a copy of this book by the author to read and review for an honest opinion.

A tough and heartwarming story of how plans change and sometimes what is best isn't always what's easy. I loved the characters and how they grew throughout the book. Very well thought out and executed considering such a controversial subject being discussed.

WOW! Alicia Michaels sure knows how to make you drown in those romances.

This time, Brat, the second book in the Sharing Spaces series, revolves around the fashion queen Chloe. She gets pregnant after one steamy night with environment activist Chase Watkins. She tells him the news and he tells her he'll be by her side the whole way. She's determined that they're night was a mistake and she wants to get an abortion. However, the sizzling chemistry between them for a start was something undeniable. As for the latter, you'll know about it once you read this story.

Brat does remind me a lot of Something Blue, however, Chloe is far from being the insecure snob Darcy was in Something Blue. I liked the line she told Chase:

"Just because I like expensive things doesn't make me a bad person."

And she is not bad at all. She is caring, friendly, and she does what she wants regardless someone likes it or not. I really admired her. There were parts of her personality that I wished I could have.

As for Chase, the guy is officially my dream guy. He is supportive, charming, funny and fights for the environment. I wished there was more of him.

The romance was awesome. It had the right amount of heart appropriate for this kind of serious topic and steamy scenes. I loved how Chase and Chloe's first meeting bordered between hate and lust. It's tricky to write such scenes but Alicia Michaels sure nailed that as everything else about this novel. I'm extremely impressed with the writing and I'm so eager to get more from this author.

This story is a follow up from V-card, however it's focus is on other characters from the first book; Chloe and Chase. For these two it definitely wasn't love at first sight, or even like at first sight but a one night stand between them leads them to being tied together in a way they both can't deny; Chloe being pregnant. Will they keep the baby? Will they go from lust, to like, to love? Or are they just two different people from two different worlds?

"I couldn't tell him how much it freaked me out, the possibility of losing yourself in someone so much that you start to lose yourself."

I enjoyed V-card and I enjoyed this one too. It's a fun, light, easy and enjoyable read that had me laughing, shedding a few tears and I found it thoroughly entertaining.

Chloe and Chase are both characters I really liked. Chloe was funny and actually mature for her age despite her Brat and Princess status. She was very grown up about everything that was going on and was brave and strong throughout the story. Chase was the charming boy next door who was honourable, cute and was always standing by Chloe.

"'I'm your brat now.' I said huskily. 'You can do whatever you want with me."

This book was quite short and I feel the plot could have been developed into something longer because it had the potential to be a really great, LONG story and I actually wanted more. Despite this though I did still really enjoy the plot line and I loved the decision that was made in the end about the baby, I thought it was not only realistic but done in such a sweet way.

"Nothing had happened the way I planned... but plans are for losers, and I wouldn't have changed it for anything in the world."

Overall an enjoyable read and this author has definitely got the potential to expand her writing to longer books so her plot and characters can be developed even more.

Author Alicia Michaels has done it again. Even while taking on a taboo subject like abortion, she still manages to do so with style and grace.

After Chloe’s fling with Chase, she soon discovers she is pregnant. While still coping with that tid bit, she finds out her new roommate in Apartment 4D is none other than her baby daddy. Chase Watkins is the complete opposite from Chloe. He is a down to earth tree hugger while she is a spoiled rich kid. But Chloe is so much more than just a brat, and the reader soon see that. This pregnancy may be just what she needs to realize certain changes that need to be made in life.

Author Alicia Michaels has done it again. Even while taking on a taboo subject like abortion, she still manages to do so with style and grace. While this storyline deals with some adult situations and repercussions, Brat is still riddled with the humor you loved in V-Card (Book 1 Sharing Spaces).

To be honest, I was a little tentative about The Brat when I first saw the title (probably because I'm so used to reading the cliche stories about the nerd and the jock) but once I started on page 1 I knew I wouldn't be able to put it down until I had finished reading it. The Brat had me smiling at all the adorably romantic Chase-Chloe moments and laughing at Chloe's inappropriate yet hilarious comments; it has been a while since I had such a good time with book characters. Chloe's unexpected pregnancy (which is what the Brat centres) takes a slightly different turn from conventional books of similar themes, but regardless, I'm very happy with the book- beginning to the end.

I'm extremely grateful to the author for the ARC because this is a very enjoyable read!

Do give this book a try, you won't regret it. Happy reading!

This book is a lot more in-depth than its predecessor and deals with more serious issues. Issues that more than one college student has had to face.

Chloe comes back after a vacation only to realise that what happened on vacation didn't stay there in more ways than one. In Book 1, you rarely glimpsed Chloe's human side. In this installment, you learn more about why she is the way she is. Chase is a sweetheart and extremely wise beyond his years. He gets more than what he originally bargained for when he follows Chloe back to college, but he mans up almost immediately.

I'm definitely looking forward to another installment in the series.

I really enjoyed this book. just like the first one I was hooked from beginning. I love how Alicia never missed a beat with the other characters. even though this was Chloe's story and we met chase we knew what was going on with everyone else n I love that.
This book touched on a toucy subject. It was about unwanted pregnancy. She talked of abortion, having the baby keeping it or adoption. I think this was very well written.

I can't wait for the 3rd book to come out. can't wait to see what happens with Kinsley.

I Loved V-Card so I knew I would love this one as well. The second book in Sharing Spaces is a great continuation from the first, V-Card. The author tackles a touchy subject: unwanted pregnancy, and does it with class. This was such a fun book! But full of emotion and growth. It was great to get to see Jenn and Luke again. I love the friendships in this book. The way they all have each other’s back is endearing.

Another fabulous read by this author. Just love it from the start. Really emotional at times but that just makes it all the more interesting. They say opposites attracts and in this story it works superb for Chase and Chloe. Just love them. Reading about the other characters from the first book was also great. A definite must read.

New adult fiction... I probably would have liked this better had I read it 10 years ago. It wasn't a bad story per say, but I found myself overanalyzing it from a romance perspective. It's not really a case of opposites attract - the characters literally hated each other at the beginning, so how they ended up getting together and... making stuff happen... is a bit of a mystery that's never really explained. Fast forward and still didn't really feel any attraction or chemistry between them, no interactions that would explain the sudden trading of the L word.

A one night stand leads to some courageous choices for two people to make

This is the second book of the series Sharing Spaces, the first book was V-Card, which was also a fun read. This one starts off with Chloe who was the spoiled brat who was rich had clothes in her closet that still had tags on them, she didn't even have enough room in her closet for all the clothes she had. She never had to work for anything everything was handed to her from her parents and in this continuing series she learns what real love is, all she has ever had were one night stands. She also learns that money isn't all there is to life. She ends up having another one of her one night stands only this time she ends up pregnant and this is when the book really starts getting even better. Her and the babies daddy make some very hard, courageous and unselfish choices at this point in their lives. You just have to read it to find out what is going to happen next. It is an awesome second book in the Sharing Spaces series, trust me you will love this second book, it is just as good as V-Card was.

Thought it was cute. Chloe from book 1 (the rich one) is in this book along with a new character that is introduced when the group goes on a summer vacation together. I was surprised where the story went considering that Chloe was a college senior and Chase had already graduated but was a graduate student.

The characters don't really act like they are in their early twenties.
All that said, I will still read Thin when it is released.

Okay that was unexpected totally get why Chase and Chloe did what they had to but I was shocked that they actually followed through with it. I was proud that Chloe finally stood up to her parents. Was surprised when Chase's mom was aboard with what they had decided. Great book can't wait to read the next one.

This story is on the shorter side and at first I wasn't sure I would like how it was written, it jumps into the past, for good reason though. I am glad I stuck with it! IT was an enjoyable story that covered a couple hard to face topics. They were handled well even if not all factual, but I can move passed that. I am liking this series and can't wait to read the next book.
