I chose this book because the cover fit with my mood at that time, then I read the synopsis and felt clicked. All I can say that this book is so relatable, the way she wrote all of the journey for someone who trying to heal and I felt resonated with almost every page.

Sukaaa!
Salah satu yang aku suka dari buku ini:

tall man: "what is the difference between your self ego and self love? because I don't really see a diference about it."

the grandmother hardly smiled.

the tall man stared at her;
"you know, when you fall in love with someone but you leave them because you don't want to get hurt again, how could you say that a self love? for me it is just a self ego to protect yourself from being hurt."

silence between them.

then she replied,
"self ego is just when you love someone but you are trying to hide it. it's not about leaving. you want them to love you the same but you don't want them to love you more, or less too."

"self love is when you know you love them but you choose to leave because they just isn't right for you. not because you are less, but because you are too damn more worth than any of broken hearts. and you know you deserve better. it's a big difference."

This book is so raw and honest. The author deliver every piece really well. You can see the hurt, the sadness, and the process of her to heal slowly. She made relevant pieces that speak to many people out there. This book is not perfect, but I admire the vulnerability and courage to speak up for the uncomfortable issues we are afraid to talk about. For me personally I really enjoyed it. It is a hidden gem, give it a try.

This book wasn’t my usual read- but I didn’t hate it. I thought the flow through healing was cool. I’m not much of a poetry reader but I could see the appeal to some
Also I read it in English- some of the translations came through weird I think- but it added to it in a way

Edit: I read the foreword (oops should have read it before) fire!! Jesus is pretty awesome and redeeming

I really really really put a high expectation on this book because it mention diagnose, pills, anxiety, self harm etc etc when exactly nothing really came up with those shits. Okay maybe there still one or two but it doesn’t take away my disappointment. This book is like the writer’s journal or diary packed with random photo that matched the writing. Like an unpolished gem, i wish the writer would have learn better, write more, and keep on trying. Good luck there! ❤️

personally, i feel that the book knows how to relate and empathise with the reader’s struggle, giving advices and understanding to questions that you might've ask/wonder. some give affirmations and validations to how you feel, telling us that it wasn't wrong to feel/think differently. on the other hand, it also helps me to self-introspect and gives comfort and encouragement that i might want to hear. i particularly like chapter 3 and 4 the most, where chapter 3 helps me introspect as it’s quite often that the author strikes some questions, which might intends for us reader to introspect. while chapter 4 gives the affirmations that i want to hear. overall, the feeling when i read the book is like having the author says, “hey, it’s okay to be flawed but don’t worry, it’s fixable and sometimes it is just how human is.”

it might not contain heavy/deep things related to anxiety or depression as it addressed to. i think it talked about common struggles, so for those who really need healing, it might not be satisfying read.
i didn’t relate to everything written in there, maybe there are poems that i didn’t strongly attracted to, but overall it is a good read.

Remedies for the Broken
by Leony Jardine

3/5 stars

we are just
meant to be
two persons
who
fill each other emptiness
and keep
breaking
each other
over and over again

[is it love?]

At first, I am very intrigued with the cover. It's very simple and interesting. Therefore, I decided to read this book.

Well, I appreciate the honesty and the rawness words from the author. Some of the quote is relatable for me. There is four part in this book, and every part is a "stages" for healing. Unfortunately, there is a blurry stage there that seems like similar to one another. But maybe it's just my opinion.

For the layout itself, I don't really have comment about. But, I ain't really fan of the picture there. Sometimes, it just didn't fit well with the words.

Overall, it's just a simple and raw poetry book for me.

★ [1.5/5] ★

Rupi Kaur and her consequences have done irreparable damage to how people write "poetries."

Remedies for The Broken is the debut poetry collection by Leony Jardine. It combines personal poems with photographs, giving readers a glimpse of her life, not just through words, but also through lens. The themes of this book are deeply personal; Loneliness, heartbreak, self-harm, and mental health. But with how brief most of the poems are, it feels like the whole book could be less than 180 pages.

I’m not trying to be THAT person, but a beta reader or at least a proofreader would've made a huge difference. The sheer number of grammatical errors was genuinely frustrating. Still, it takes guts to publish your first book, especially when it’s this personal. So shout out to her for putting it out there.

Pretty good book!!

This some parts I like:
– "To my self, I am proud you have come this far."

– "He searches something fun while she is searching for something real."

– "Why people can be so loud about judging, yet be so silent about complementing others?"

– "Hug is the best medicine, after the medicine itself."

– "My body is a home with self acceptance as its roof."

– "You are not alone. We are facing it, together."

The book is full with black and white. There's some sentences that I can't really understand. But it's pretty good book!! 💛

I am in my 20s and I honestly can relate to the phrases in this book. I'm currently heartbroken, confused about what people think of me, and I've been chasing dreams that seem endless and unreachable.

This book told me that everything I feel is normal. I just need to be brave, to block people's judgments, stop listening to the crowd and their standards. I just need to make progress, and at least there's something worth learning along the journey. And most importantly, I need to love myself better.

Thanks to this book, I'm able to bounce back and have my confidence back.

I have been into poetry lately, and I found this book unexpectedly. At first, when I see the review a long time ago, I don't expect much from this book. But when I started to read it, I found myself falling in love with this book. As the author says in the title: It really is like a healing journey. It is so raw and has the consecutive stage. As a person who has been broken, the poem is really present in a beautiful way.

There were so many part that i like much and somehow it exposed me brutally hahaha.

This book could accompanied you in the afternoon with tea and cookies or maybe in the night with hot chocolate, warm blanket, and a playlist from spotify. Kudos for the author!

The writer discusses the diversity of love, shattered love, love for others, self-love, self-acceptance, human nature, and this book also helps you to heal.

This book is heartwarming and touching, particularly the last chapter, the author also does not use complicated words, making it more relatable to readers.

remedies for the broken heart 3 out of 5
love the physicality of the book. tiny and neat hard cover. layout and use of pictures–fresh and inspiring for me.

the self-love message is lovely. just like the author's premise, we all struggle and it's good to know everyone face it and self-love is the key to live this life.

grammatical error can be found once in a while.

I just wanna try to read poems this year and this book's quite banger to start (randomly picked in RBK because of the title). I like it cause there are many poems here that speak loudly about what's in my head, mostly related to what I've been going through. And the writer put bnw photographs here to make it look aesthetically pleasing.

One of the best poem I've read so far. The writer's being vulnerable through her writings in this book
Talking about mental health, this must be the book that you need to read if you're struggling in that area
