Another fabulous thriller from mother and son team Iris johansen and Roy Johansen! I love the Kendra Michael's series! This was another awesome rollercoaster ride with mega suspense and plenty of heart stopping action! Once again Kendra and lynch and the gang are on a case looking for the killer or killers who have murdered two people from Woodward Academy for the physically disabled where Kendra and her best friend Olivia went as children.
I love that Kendra and lynch are paired up again! This is one of my fave couples of Johansen's! Kendra is smart and simply amazing and I've loved her since she was introduced and lynch is a fabulous anti hero. He's not only clever but very sexy and I love that walking the edge kind of vibe with him! He's not a knight in armor kind of guy he's all warrior and the type that would bring the world to its knees for you! Their was also a nice addition of a special needs dog named Harley who was a great animal character and who belonged to one of the victims. As always the villains were cunning and deadly but when you have a team like Kendra and the gang its only a matter of time before they solve the case and bring them down.

Tiresome
Disappointed. The heroine really gets on my nerves. She is always so argumentative and it gets tiresome. She is not very likeable. The plot was simply flat. Nice about the dog. May think about reading the next book with KENDRA MICHAELS.

Two staff members have been murdered at a school for the blind, where Kendra spent many of her younger years until she received a surgical procedure to restore her sight. She is a well known investigator who has honed all her senses and sharp deductive abilities.
The two victims have no connection other than place of employment and one is stabbed and the other took a bullet to the head. Two killers?
As Kendra throws herself wholeheartedly into the investigation, she unwittingly discovers that she, herself, holds the key to a deadly secret that could make her the target of a killer.
This is a real page turner, suspense starting at the very beginning and holding it's pace until the very unpredictable ending. Although 7th in the series, this is easily read as a stand alone. As always, I recommend starting with the very first book as the recurring characters are memorable.

Do people really get to be as rude, obnoxious and bossy as Kendra, in real life? I’ve read every Kendra book, but I suddenly realized while reading this book, I really don’t like Kendra or Adam anymore. The story is the same. There is a mystery and no one else can solve it.

I love this series! I wish she would stop writing her other stuff and just focus on Kendra and Adam. This series just does not come out nearly as often as it should. (I'd prefer if she'd get on a J.D. Robb timetable but...)
This book had a really interesting storyline. It had much more Kendra and Adam. As well as not dealing with an evil serial killer out to get Kendra... People were still out to get Kendra, but it was more conspiracy based.
Plus... Harley!!
PS - If I were Kendra there would be no pushing away. Sheesh!!

The Kendra Michaels series by Iris and Roy Johansen has been one of my favorites as I love the character Kendra Michaels - well normally. You know-how in a TV series when the main characters finally get together "officially" or at least end up sleeping with one another and then you see a lull in the series as that hidden chemistry disappears and the whole environment feels like it has changed and normally at that point in the series - the TV series you know will be coming to an end. That's how I felt with Hindsight as Kendra still did her amazing deductions and detective skills which I love and I still want to know how she knew the general had red underwear - the question was never answered in the book. Her relationship though with Lynch annoyed me as they had this whole back and forth going on and it was love/hate and lots of angst on Kendra's side. The murders took part at her old school which was a school for special needs which I loved but then I was disappointed with the whole reasoning behind why they were murdered and then there was the dog Harley who howled like a Lion. I liked his storyline but then again he felt like he was added - just because they needed to add something else which overall made the plot of Hindsight feel super busy for me. One of my favorite side -characters in Hindsight though was Agent Metcalfe with his presentations and his geekiness and I had to laugh when they added about the Pop Funkos as I am a major Funko fan myself. Overall, I think readers should only read this one if they are a big fan of Kendra Michaels and wanting to continue the series.

A typical, fun Iris Johansen and Roy Johansen romantic suspense novel which I thoroughly enjoyed. The action, suspense, twists, and turns were really there, and the sparks between Kendra and Adam were, once again, flying.
But my all-time favorite - Harley the dog with unusual issues. I hope he'll be around in future Kendra Michaels books as well.

I really have loved this Kendra Michaels series . I have given my rapt attention to Kendra who uses all her senses to deduce what is going on in the world. She often helps the FBI on their cases, reluctantly. There's action, mystery, intelligent casework and a nice group of family and friends.
Adam Lynch is often involved with Kendra's cases and adds sexual tension and humor. I have wanted them to get together but Kendra always has some reason to put him off. The longer this has continued, the more I have tired of it. A person feels what they feel and telling yourself you don't or won't feel is stupid. Now choosing your actions, no matter what you feel is quite normal. But lying to yourself and others about how you feel seems immature.
Kendra also seems to have a god complex. She thinks she knows better, and should not only make her own decisions, but others should do things her way. She is very sharp and often does have better information to make decisions. But when she is on a trip with Adam, in his arena, she gets angry when he decides to protect her. Her temper and childish treatment of him is not cool. Kendra seems to be less careful about her own or others' safety as the series continues.
Kendra only used a bit of her skills in this case. Much of what she did was being very observant and knowledgeable about the place and people. That really helped her in the end. But she was also smart, and worked herself almost endlessly. She needs to spare a thought to her own health.
Similar to Double Blind, Hindsight has a complex case to solve with riveting action. Kendra and her allies work to solve the mystery and catch the really bad guys. Unfortunately, I don't enjoy any of Kendra's personal (or professional) relationships any more, even with Olivia, because of her attitudes.

I really enjoyed this book. It really sucks you into the story from the word GO. I didn’t realize Iris Johansen had another series. I think the last book I read by her was in her Eve Duncan forensic series. That is a great series too! Check it out if you haven’t picked up one of Iris’s books in awhile. Definitely worth the read!
This is a whole different series and they are already on book seven. Where have I been? I can’t believe I missed so much yummy goodness! Iris and Roy… what a powerhouse team these two are! I am in love with this series. So happy to have a new series to dive into for 2020!
Kendra used to be blind and a remarkable surgery gave her back her sight. But now she is almost like Sherlock Holmes in how she can ferret out clues and pick up on slight sounds, fragrances and nuances the rest of us miss.
This book centers around the institute where Kendra attended when she was blind. Two beloved teachers are dead and she definitely wants answers in a big way. It was never boring to follow the action and I was engaged the entire way through the book. Love this concept. It is right in my wheelhouse. I learned sign language when I was young and a woman I used to work with was deaf and her husband ran the deaf institute. Not exactly the same handicap but similar in nature, I think.
Don’t want to give too much of this away. The roller-coaster ride is so worth it. Just read this and be in awe!
If you love a good mystery suspense thriller, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

The fact that it was a fast-paced story with surprising twists and turns and a shocking conclusion all came together to make Hindsight an excellent addition to the Kendra Michaels series.

Hindsight is a suspenseful story with a unusual murder mystery plot. Kendra Michaels is the main character, she was once blind but had a stem cell implant and can now see. All of her senses are heightened due to being blind and she uses this gift to solve mysteries with the FBI.
I still don’t “get” the relationship between Kendra and Lynch. Though in this book there is more chemistry between them that I did like.
The story does feel a bit disjointed at times which led to becoming disinterested in the story.
I found the dog, Harley, to be a interesting addition to the story. He has his own issues that adds depth to the story line.

The series was interesting concept when it started, but each book has declined in interest and mystery even though what Kendra can deduce is amazing. Her relationship with Lynch has become tiresome. But I think Jessie might hold her own as the main character in a spin off series.

“Hindsight” is a novel written by Iris & Roy Johansen focusing on Dr. Kendra Michaels, a formerly blind investigator who is tasked with solving two gruesome murders at a former school she attended as a child and teenager.
The novel consists of eighteen chapters and an epilogue.
The novel begins by introducing the reader to Dr. Kendra Michaels who’s under arrest in Afghanistan after a mission goes awry. Kendra works as a musical therapist as well as a investigator for the FBI. Kendra’s backstory is that she was blind until she was twenty a steam cell operation and gained her eyesight. By being blind for the first part of her life, her other senses are heightened which makes her a valuable asset for the FBI. Kendra was previously romantically involved with former CIA agent and mission teammate Adam Lynch and she feels betrayed by him since he’s responsible for having her sent back to the states. Although Kendra’s being sent away, her Her other teammate Jessie Mercado is allowed to stay so Kendra is upset that she’s not able to stay and see the mission through until its completion.
Other chapters in the novel include the reader going to the Woodward Academy for the Physically Disabled in Oceanside, California where Kendra once attended up the eighth grade. Kendra has returned to the school due to the murder of two staff members (Ronald Kim and Elaine Wessler) who she’d known since she was five years old.
Kendra is surprised that there are no suspects in the murder and that the FBI is involved but it is quickly explained that the case needs to be solved due to the large amount of foreign diplomat kids attending the school. Kendra has a bittersweet reunion with former school headmaster Dr. Allison Walker but is able to see the crime scenes and discussions are had about possible connections between the two dead people. After scouting the murder locations, Kendra meets Harley, handicapped former service dog at the academy in need of help and decides to take him in.
As the novel progresses, readers meet other important characters in Kendra’s life including her best friend Olivia Moore, and FBI agents Metcalf and Griffin. Despite Kendra’s life being put on danger numerous times, she is able to discover the motive of the senseless killings as well as those responsible to justice, and find a permanent home for Harley.
After finishing this novel, I was impressed by how masterful the authors were in creating a thrilling novel that immediately hooks the reader and keeps them invested in the storyline until the very end. To me, reading this novel is also a test of patience since the full motives of the murders is not revealed until much later in the novel.

I've been reading this series for a while. I loved the way Kendra Michaels, formerly blind, used her senses to "see" things others didn't to solve crimes. I read the book that came just before this, Double Blind, but won't bother to review it. I had the same problem with both books--the constant push/pull between Kendra and her "partner' Adam Lynch. This has been going on for seven books. The sexual tension is undeniable and Kendra keeps making excuses not to act on it. Adam is an alpha male who should have been getting tired of it long ago. Instead he puts up with her issues. I don't believe a real man would. The things between them get in the way of the mystery, in my opinion. In both books, the story would have been better if the two had just let the romance become a non-issue. Hey, move in together and go on taking care of the real business of crime solving. I have no problems with the way the Johansens (Iris and son Roy) write great thrillers. They should abandon the coy will she or won't she nonsense and concentrate on what they do best.

IJ/RJ keep us guessing a while in this one. The bad guys keep the tension high and you’re yelling at some other characters to “Check over there - why do you think he’s barking?” Love the new dog - hope he continues in the series. And I hope we get to see more of the young, blind hacker girl. The ending is nuts 😳 Another great story from IJ/ RJ. Not sure why this series doesn’t have a bigger following. A great series to add if you want suspense/thriller with an awesome female character.

And I hope we get to see more of the young, blind hacker girl. The ending is nuts 😳 Another great story from IJ/ RJ. Not sure why this series doesn’t have a bigger following. A great series to add if you want suspense/thriller with an awesome female character.

I really enjoyed this book. I understand why Kendra doesn’t feel comfortable with Lynch, and the danger that his job brings, but something has to give . A kiss on the nose, or cheek just does not go with their personalities. The book lagged a little in the beginning, but quickly took off. The author had me thinking in another direction, but she flipped it around nicely. Olivia, and a dog is thrown in, and Jessie. Metcalf, who clearly loves Kendra. I’m glad she doesn’t lead him on. The book revolves around the school for the blind that Kendra went to, with Olivia and others. So some teachers and tragedy get mixed. I like the ending, and an epilogue is always appreciated. No sexual content, but bad language. 4.5 stars.

Her senses are extra sensitive and in tune to her surroundings because she was blind for many years of her life, and she feels that allows her to see and hear things that others do not. Before she got her sight, she went to a school for the blind, so she has a special place in her heart for them. When two staff members from the school are murdered, the crime becomes personal to her. But it will not be easy for her to solve it. In fact it will be very dangerous for her.
The characters are well developed and well rounded. Kendra has very strong opinions and she doesn’t like it when others disagree with her. I felt that she was a little too argumentative a lot of the time and I got a little tired of it. She especially likes to argue with Adam, her partner and their bickering and banter was very entertaining. The best character in the book was the dog, Harley, he stole the show.
There is so much suspense and tension in this book, and there are so many twists and turns, that sometimes I did not know if I was coming or going. At times I was afraid to keep reading because I did not know what was going to happen next.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a suspenseful romantic book. If you enjoy fast paced action, check this book out.

Kendra’s sight was restored with a miraculous surgery. The first part of her life was spent without that particular sense, which enhanced all the others. When two staff members of a school she once attended are murdered, she puts her all into finding the culprits. The crimes aren’t similar and there also isn’t a lot of clues, but the storyline is an interesting one as she finds her way to answers that escape everyone else. Iris Johansen never disappoints. Though this is part of a series, it can be read on its own with no preempting from previous books.

Hindsight is another great mystery/thriller from Iris Johansen. It kept me on my toes until the very end of the book.
This story follows Dr. Kendra Michaels as she used her investigative skills to solve two murders. We learn that Kendra was blind for the first 20 years of her life and developed many skills and abilities that make her great at her job.
There are lots of twists that are unexpected and classic Iris Johansen. I really enjoyed this book and continue to enjoy reading stories from this author.
I give Hindsight 4 stars. It's a must-read for mystery and thriller reading lovers. Iris Johansen gave us another great heroine that is fierce and knows how to take charge!

Another great Kendra Michaels story. This time we get a small hint into Kendra when she was younger, before she regained her sight. She and Lynch join forces once again. Kendras's friend Olivia is also there to help solve the murders of two of the people from the school for the blind that both Kendra and Olivia attended.

Fast paced visit with Kendra...I love this series, and I really love Lynch. The banter and chemistry is off the charts...and I love how well they work together.

The story dragged on for a bit longer then necessary. I love the fire and desire from Adam Lynch. Kendra needs to just go for it!!

I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.
I have not read the previous books in this series, so I am unsure if it would have helped me understand this book more. However, I did feel, especially at the beginning, that maybe there was some of the back story that I was missing.
Kendra Michaels has a special gift that everyone wants to utilize. While she's on a mission in the middle east, hot on the trail of a bad group of people, Lynch, her sometimes friend, sometimes lover pulls her out. Needless to say, Kendra is less than impressed and downright furious that he did that.
But, Lynch has his reasons and while you only really see hints of his ability to love Kendra throughout the book, he is a complex character who you sometimes really like and sometimes just want to slap.
Kendra, while mad that she's back home, is thrown right in to another case. Kendra grew up attending a school for the blind. But, even after an experimental surgery restored her sight, she never forgot where she came from. When two beloved people from that school are murdered, Kendra is called in to try and figure out what it going on.
With drugs, taunting and people out to get Kendra, it will take all of her abilities and her friends to solve what is happening at the school.
This is a fast paced story that has a lot of moving parts. At times, I found it difficult to figure out who was talking and the relationship aspect between Lynch and Kendra was dizzying. But, it was a quick read and I wanted to figure out how everything would fall together. It's well done and I really enjoyed it.
