This gets four stars because it's fun and helpful, not because it's a great literary work. Which is not its intention! If you're going to visit Buffalo, NY -or even if you live there- this is a terrific book to have. In addition to the more common places to visit -the Olmstead parks network, City Hall, etc.- there are unique and fascinating things to discover. Like the ferry slip from which boats transported people on the last leg of their journey to Canada on the Underground Railroad. Or the "Prophet Isaiah Second Coming House" in Niagara Falls, NY: hand-decorated over many years, truly unusual, and a total must-see.

There are some great destinations and historical facts surrounding Buffalo explored in this book. I appreciated the LGBTQ spots and references. Overall there just isn’t enough interesting about Buffalo it seems to fulfill the title and logline.

I have lived in WNY for all of my 55 years and never knew most of the tidbits in the amazing book. I hope there is a part two in the works!
