This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable.
Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story.
Can't wait to read more of these.
Recommend reading.

I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

This book goes so much deeper into Georgie and her past and the magic and it is absolutely wonderful! Also, Lachlan. <3 The entire story just keeps building from book 1, and I can't wait to see where it's going! I think Georgie's story may be my favorite yet.

Note: I read an ARC of this book, but the opinions are my own.

Not much to say about this book. I felt like most of it could have been skipped and instead combine this book with the next one, but oh well. Some weird transitions between chapters and things happening out of nowhere, while the character apparently noticed it before we as readers are told it happened.

Still doesn't feel like a YA in any way, and I keep forgetting that the characters are supposed to be barely 18yo. I guess that's kinda the point, tho, as YA does cover the age-gap between 16-21 or so, so I guess it fits, but it's unusual to find a book with this age group and this kind of lifestyle marketed as YA. I think. I tend to avoid YA., because I don't like the drama.

A little unsure about the disability-tag, but there is a character with some kind of ailment of the blood, which seem to cause fatigue. I have to admit I'm curious about the story behind that. Hopefully, we get to know more about it in the next book.

The second book of the Earth Magic Rises begins with the challenge Georjie has created. What to do to undo the problems she's caused by burying the witch Daracha underground.
Fortunately, she's a Wise, albeit one only just beginning to discover her strengths and abilities so there's a focus on how she can learn more. She's also fortunate in her friendships with Jasher, Evelyn, & Lachlan for they are a solid source of normalcy, support, and strength. Georjie & Lachlan begin by searching historical documents for information & Georjie is then fortunate to meet with Fyfa in Stavarjak. She is less fortunate in meeting up with an otrikar, one seriously creepy amphibian there too. Lest any think there's only dark creatures there's the introduction by some fae to an amazing herd of horses. Duirrin, the Oak of Vargilith is the blue stallion but it's a lavendar mare that comes to Georjie's aid & returns her to Fyfa's cottage.

It was pretty slow-paced and felt longer than it is ( a book less than 200 pages)
It is pretty meh though.
The information was interesting, I love the fae lore and some possible revelations of Georgie's past.
I liked Fyfa telling the story of Daracha

I am loving this series! Book 2 following on from book 1 is every bit as good if not better and once again I find myself lost in the story! Fast paced and action packed we follow Georjie and Lachlan to Dundee in Scotland and learn more about Scottish lore and the fae! A fascinating fantasy world that this author has built has action, magic, friendship, learning and will just grab you from start to finish!

Another series that is right up my alley. This author has quickley become a favorite and I will definately be checking out more of her books. It's full of magic, faeries, witches, good and evil. It has something for everyone .
In the end of book 1 Georgie buried the evil black witch with her earth magic. Then she realized why the witch was smiling as she did it. Burying her enabled her to resurrect herself and she would be stronger because of it. Georgie learned a lot after Leyeck led her to Fifa. She & Lachlan went on a road trip and researcehed the area and Daracha. They learned how she got her power and now all they needed was how to defeat her. As Gorgie visited Fifa in the fae realm she learned about Fifa's life and her connection to Daracha. Fifa is desperately trying to get Georgie to stay with her in the fae realm. However after a close encounter with Daracha & her evil Ith she told Fifa that Daracha' evil plan was to collect the ashes of 4 queens so she could access the veil, then enter the fae realm. There is one thing about Georgie though, she may be young & makes mistakes but she is crafty. She learns from her mistakes and makes herself stronger. She won't stop until Daracha is destroyed and her loved ones as well as the fae are safe. I am in love with this series.

A.L. Knorr has always been a favorite author. One of the reasons for this is that when she writes a series (and I encourage anyone who has not read her other books to rush and do so) it somehow ends up that the initial book is fantastic - and then later books are somehow even better. She’s certainly done that with her latest series, Earth Magic Rises. The first book in this series, Bones of the Witch (separately reviewed) was pretty darn perfect, but somehow she’s gone and produced a sequel, Ashes of the Wise: A Young Adult Fae Fantasy (Book 2), that’s even better. Maybe it’s because she takes the characters and world developed in Book 1 and, rather than simply adding in plot, expands on them adding new characters, back story, world-building and story-line that are themselves even more exciting than the superb start. I adore both Georjie and Lachlan and love the story arc that is being developed. I’m totally confident that anyone else will too, so this book is easy to highly recommend.

I won't reveal any spoilers but I loved the ending of the book when Georjie learns more about her background/abilities. I look forward to reading the next book and discovering more about her Wise abilities and ancestry.
Her relationship with Lachlan isn't a fierce and sex-charged relationship it reads as more of a beginning relationship and they are getting to know each other and there are emotions and physical attraction/chemistry there. But that is a good thing and I think this suits Georjie much more than a relationship that relies on the initial physical spark. Georjie is Earth and that is typically grounded, logical, reliable.
Can't wait for the next book to be released!!!

Very very good

I really liked this 2nd installment, although it started off kind of slow. There was a lot of action and so much information revealed that of course I have tons of questions, hopefully they all get answered in the next book.
Some things I didn't like were it seems like Georji has forgotten that one of her friends was Akiko, because when she brings up friends she doesn't mention her like she never existed. Also the whole time I was reading about "within" and "without" I felt like it should have been saying "in" the "within" or "in" the "without". But these 2 things were not enough to not give this book five stars.
The author truly is able to take you to another magical world with her writing, it's a very smooth read.
Definitely recommend.

Ashes of the Wise (Earth Magic Rises, #2) (a spin-off of the bestselling Elemental Origins Series), my twenty-sixth read from author A.L. Knorr. Well-written, the characters, even the minor ones, are well developed with an attention-grabbing storyline. I’m a character reader, I get into the characters. Who and what they are. Why they do the things they do. The things that make the reader get invested into the characters and thereby the story. It's been almost a year since I read the first book but I came up to speed quickly. I’ll be reading more from this author & in this series, in fact, next up is Heart of the Fae (Earth Magic Rises #3) ! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

I loved Ashes of the Wise. It’s the perfect blend of suspense and mystery with a tad bit of romance.
Georjie’s journey picks up right where it left off. With the help of Lachlan she’s able to track down some leads that may aid in her search for the truth about what happened hundreds of years ago.
What she finds about Daracha is surprising to say the least.
The information will send her on a quest in which her friends can not follow.
Along the way she ends up learning a bit more about herself. Things that have her questioning who she really is.
The ending made me eager to find out what happens next. I can’t wait to start the Heart of the Fae.

The elemental series and each spin off series from AL Knorr has had me hooked. I especially love the wise story line.

Georgie gets to travel to the other world in this book and get advice and guidance from her wise friends. She's battling a witch who wants her power to take over both worlds and maybe some of her friends are standing in her way more than helping. Her love life gets a boost in this book but there are no love scenes so don't let that scare you away. The writing and world building is fantastic and I can't wait to read book 3!

I liked this book far better than I did the first one. However, there is still the problem of a cliff hanger which I am not fond of. But there is only one more book in this series, and I already own it. The characters grow with each telling and become more endearing to the reader. The plot is all over the place, but to be fair, it is still easily followed. I have to admit I wish I were a Wise. The paranormal world is alive and well in this book and I am looking forward to the rest of the story. I most definitely recommend this book as well as the first one.

This second book in the Earth Magic Rises series has a little bit of everything that a fantasy reader would love in a book; a little bit of magic, a little bit of light fae and dark, a little bit of romance, a little bit of mystery, a little bit of conjuring spells, a little bit of ancient runes, a little bit of grimoire, a little bit of weird magical creatures, plus a whole lot of enjoyment. A page-turning wonder. The ending left me breathless and definitely wanting more.

Georgie's next move

Georjie is experiencing so many different life alerting situations in this book that you will hold your breath, sigh, laugh, and have all the feels. She'll be up against many battles that will keep you guessing! Will she discover information she has yearned for all her life, or will she be trapped forever?! I can't wait for the next book!! A.L. Knorr has done it again, her writing is so expressive that you feel as if you are in the story!

Another great story by A. L. Knorr

Georgiana attempts to stop an evil witch from going through with her plans. The characters are so well developed in these books. And the world building is awesome. I can just imagine the woods and the small towns.

The story and the suspense are intense. Also the story is clean of foul language or intimate scenes. I would recommend this story for anyone.

The WISE are not always wise.

Earth Elementals are know as the WISE. Georjie is a WISE, but she still is a long way from knowing what that means. Georjie has learned a lot upon coming to Scotland, but she still does not know what brought her there. After facing Daracha once Georjie must figure out what to do when they next meet.
This is the secomd of 3 books in which Georjie learns a lot about herself.
Marnie Penning's reading of this book is amazing.

This book is so good. I love the way everything is painted. It’s just so easy to imagine the landscapes and characters and creatures. AL Knorr has this ability of describing things in the best way possible. It’s also really cool to get more of the fae world and the fae characters. Fyfa is definitely a favourite of mine. I highly recommend this book, it’s easy and short and the story is enthralling!

This book offers a lot of information. It is a bit slower paced, but it is definitely worth reading. I found all of the information interesting, to help understand the world. The world created was an amazing fantasy world. It has action, magic, friendship, and understanding. Even with the slower pace you will be drawn in I highly recommend this book, but make sure you read the first book before this one. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

A Necromancer inadvertently strengthened is really bad news for Georjie, the Fae Kingdom and her friends.
The danger is escalating but Georjie is not one to run and hide, especially if it means putting another Wise in danger. If I were in her position, I don't know if I would be as brave/stubborn. There is a lot at stake here and depending on how her audience with the Fae Queen goes, matters may be taken out of her hands altogether.

The second book in this series was so amazing. I cannot wait for the third book to come out. So many OMG moments. So much action and imagery. You really feel like you are in these worlds. The writing is amazing. Just when you think you have it figured out, something else happens to turn it all upside down. This book was riveting. You will thoroughly enjoy this book.

This second book leads you to an incredible world of the fae beautifully described by the author. By the way, all the scenarios on this book makes the reader wander around along with this fast paced and enticing narrative. There is a bit of everything here: magic, mystery, adventure and romance. Longing for the next...

A nice continuation of the first book in the series. However this book felt a bit more rushed than others by this author. There where also a number of important moments that should have had a huge impact felt like a drive by statement. That being said I am both hopeful and excited for the conclusion of this series.

Ugh... No resolution

I'm frustrated... There are many beautiful parts of this book, however, I am frustrated that while the story advanced, there wasn't any resolution.
Georgie and Lachlan got together. Georgie learned more about the Fae Realm and her powers as a Wise, but in many ways this felt like filler. Now I guess start the next one when I ought to be going to sleep! 😂

Exciting!

This book is action packed and really keeps you guessing. Georjayna finds out a lot about herself during this book as well as about the fae and supernaturals. I read this in a night and a half, and find them to be along the same lines as Harry Potter books....calling them young adult books doesn't do them justice.

I have submitted this review after listening to the audiobook of this title within the series set box. (Audible)

The saga goes on, with the discovery of why the dead corpse had been entombed within the brick wall.
As more information is found, the sinister plot unravels, and the realisation that not only our world, but the world beyond was in in danger.
