"I feel like the girl at the bar who's been there too much, can't stand up."--Elle VarnerA wise person once said that the problem with revenge is that it never evens the score; it ties both the injured and the injurer to an escalator of pain. Both are stuck on the escalator as long as parity is demanded, and the escalator never stops. Jahfar "Game" Gambino is the definition of humble and low-key. His main goal is to provide for his family while maintaining his lucrative career as a gaming creator. But even with his wealth and accomplishments, there is something that makes him toss and turn at night. Game has been going through his life harboring a hideous secret that could drive away the truest love that he has ever known. Misty Blue lost her innocence at the tender age of eleven when she when was brutally attacked and witnessed the slaying of her mother. Abandoned by her father, the man who promised that he would never leave, Misty was then bounced around different foster homes. Unfortunately, her bad hand didn't stop there as she ended up succumbing to homelessness. Broken, empty, and simply tired of fighting, she meets the captivating Game. Although she has been let down by men all her life, she decides to take a chance on him hoping that she has outrun all of her bad days. Once their two worlds collide, they endure the many emotions of the non-stop escalator called love, and neither of them are willing to get off. In this cat and mouse tale of crazy love, unspoken truths and unremedied rue, Misty and Game are forced to confront one another's pasts, learning that the old law about an eye for an eye almost always leaves everybody blind.
This is one action packed book. It had so much going on, but I loved it. Dang I was and still hoping Game and Misty find they way back together. I hope Fu and Kayla work it out. Danni is just a waste and missed the signs of her son. Where is book 2.
Poor Misty, her whole world was turned upside down. She went through a lot early in her life. I wonder what ever happened to her dad. I liked Kayla til she made that decision off one situation. I HATED Danni, especially with what happened with Trey. Let me just say I can’t wait til part 2! That ending threw me for a loop. I know exactly how shocked Game was at how randomly Misted switched up. But when Ava made that confession, I was stunned!!!! Overall, great book!!
I'm sitting here like ikyfl! I swear I was all in from the very beginning. Rod really had some issues with him and Game should've steered clear of him so he wouldn't be in the predicament he's in now. I felt bad for Misty and all the things she had to endure because she no longer had her family to be there for her. Danni was truly a sorry excuse for a mother and one would think she'd get her life right after everything that happened to Trey. She chose not to be the mother she should've been and left the burden on another child not knowing the issues that would arise. I liked Kayla and Fuquan but they definitely need to get themselves together. Everyone has a past and I agree that Fuquan should've been honest about a few things but Kayla went about their other issue the wrong way when she didn't allow him to have a choice. Jaylen was sorry! He went about things wrong and further complicated things between him and Game. Lawd that explains Ava's attitude towards Misty in the beginning. I'm so ready for part 2 because now that the truth is finally out I'm hoping Misty will realize she belongs with Game even though he made some stupid decisions when they were younger.
This book was so good from beginning to end and what a ending. Enjoyed the storyline, plot and these characters and I couldn't put it down...a page-turner. It flowed really well and I loved it. I really hope Misty and Game can work everything out. After that ending that left me SPEECHLESS.... I can't wait to see what happens next. Great job Teshera C.
Teshera you did a great job with this book as usual..I loved this book from beginning to end. It flowed from page to page. I really hope Game and Misty can get it together. This is most definitely a must read and I can’t wait to read part 2..That ending left me with my mouth wide open.
The story started off a little slow for me. But once it picked up I enjoyed how everything played out. I’m not usually a fan of multi character POV but the author layed this one out nice. I feel we the readers could’ve did without Dani, although I actually cried for Trey. Dani is the worst type of parent. Although Game wasn’t truly the villain I understand how he was in Misty’s eyes. She seems to take loss after loss. For once I wanted this to work. Something in me is telling me that her and Game will work this out. I love how throughout the story little hints were dropped that kind of tied everything back to that night. From the brother, to the tattoo Game has, Bregan telling Game to get HIS daughter, to Ava. There are some question I’m left with like where is Misty dad? Was the guy that was with Jaylen, Rod? Overall this story was worth the read.
So much packed into such a wonderfully crafted storyline. Character development well written and relatable. One of my favorite characters was Logan, she was cute and funny. I enjoyed and recommend this five star read. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

Omg!!!! I really don't want her to kill him and then to know that Ava is her child. I would never have imagined that. I can't wait for the next part. This first part was 🔥
