About the author
Helen Forsey
7 books3 followers I grew up in Ottawa in a very political family; my Newfoundland-born father was a well-known labour researcher and constitutional expert who later became a senator. I studied agriculture at McGill and then worked in Ecuador with CUSO before returning to Canada, starting a family, and working with international voluntary organizations. In 1984 I moved out of the city to live communally, farm part-time, and freelance as writer, editor and translator.
For decades now I have been a feminist and an activist on the peace, environment, and social justice fronts. As Canada struggles for democracy in the face of growing planetary crises, I've found myself increasingly drawn into the political and constitutional fields as well.
I am blessed with two homes - one in a small intentional community in rural eastern Ontario, the other on Newfoundland's Avalon Peninsula, where my little railway caboose perches on the rocks above the North Atlantic. They nourish my writing and keep me close to the people and places I love.
