Followed draws you slowly into the ruthless underbelly of organized crime in the higher echelons of power. Money and power have always been a lethal combination, but when confronted the consequences can be devastating — something Beth, to her horror soon finds out.Beth’s a reporter on her way back to her mum's house in Oxford from a job interview in London. With a few hours to spare, she goes to check on a friend's house. She'd promised she would and now seemed like a good time to do it. The house is just a twenty-minute train ride from Oxford. It's a lovely sunny day and a walk in the country will do her good and give her time to think. But things don't quite work out how she expected. Then something happens that endangers the life of her young son. It’s as if she’s being targeted, but why would anyone do this? What has she done? With not much help from the local police, Beth investigates and, to her horror, discovers the depths of depravity that fester in the small village in the Cotswolds.

Not for me I’m afraid.
I hated the writing style right from the start: it wasn’t a STORY, it was a list of events - written with limited vocabulary, and certainly no flow….it did not paint any pictures for me - I was just reading words.
Secondly, the characters were 2-dimensional & cold: I didn’t develop any empathy at all for the main character, which made it hard to care what happened. A prerequisite of any ‘thriller’ in my view, is that you care what happens to the characters involved…this book failed.
Baddies: cartoon baddies, shoe-horned in with ridiculous plot lines…I just ended up laughing.
Backstory: this was hinted at, but never revealed / resolved - so we got no understanding of what brought them to England in the first place…
I gave it 2 stars because it was cheap - & short enough to get to the end…but really - I couldn’t recommend anyone else to waste their time with it, sorry.

Followed is a story that addresses every womans fear of being attacked and who fights back to not become a victim with consequences. This book was an excellent, fast paced read that will stay with you a long time. Looking forward to the next in the series to see where the story will go next.

A Dark Psychological Thriller
It all started with a train journey, it could happen to anyone...
The disastrous events and breakup of her marriage in Athens result in Beth returning to Oxford in the UK with her young son Jamie. But her hopes of starting a new life soon turn to dust when she's assaulted and their lives are threatened.
Vowing to find who is responsible, and with not much help from the police, she goes it alone. What she discovers is so dark and terrible, but as she will soon find out, it's only the tip of the iceberg, her life is now in danger.
The new Beth Papadakis Thriller series is set in London, Oxford, the Cotswolds and Athens, Greece.

Beth goes from one disaster and ending a marriage. To a new beginning, a train trip with her son, and being assaulted. You want to appalled her, that she wants to fight back. With what she has gone thru and no help now and wanting to protect her child. The different settings added a nice touch to the story. Good plot, and beginning of a series.
Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
