To the human world, Baton Rouge is just like every other part of Louisiana. To the residents, however, there is far more lurking below the surface than just the occasional swamp critter.Led by Barrett Rockwell, the dragon shifters of Rockwell Agency make their home in the historic city, and they’re keen to protect the place and people they love from dark unseen forces that sometimes like to step out of line.PART IWhen English botanist Angela Winston moves to Louisiana to complete her studies, she expects jet lag. She doesn’t expect to start literally losing time—a whole lot of it, in big chunks. Recently she’s been “waking up” from apparently blacking out, only to be told by worried friends about all the embarrassing or dangerous things she did. Desperate, Angela contacts Rockwell Agency, known in Baton Rouge as being a premiere investigative group. All she wants is for someone to follow her around for a weekend, observe her actions, and stop her if she somehow becomes destructive. She doesn’t expect her shadow to be quite so incredibly handsome, but so long as Ryan Minton is competent, she’ll ignore the flare of attraction and just pray he can help her out of her mysterious predicament.PART IIWes Moretti is hearing things. With increasing frequency, he is somehow suddenly privy to the thoughts of those around him—friends, co-workers, women lusting after him… It’s worrisome, to say the least, wondering if he’s somehow losing his mind. Then he overhears his best friend’s thoughts and learns a secret that destroys that friendship and also confirms Wes’s newfound ability isn’t in his imagination. He can actually hear what other people are thinking. Needing to regain control of his life—and his mind—he heads for Rockwell Agency, known in Baton Rouge as a top detective group. He expects the detectives to help him. He doesn’t expect to walk into the agency and be bowled over—but then again, Jordan Grey has a tendency to do that to people, Wes quickly learns.PART IIILydia Winn has a secret. Usually an honest person, her pursuit of a particular goal has caused her to bend a few of her usual rules. Intent on finally getting answers to questions she’s had her whole life, she visits Rockwell Agency, where Quentin Pencer is assigned to her case. She knows Quentin has a secret too… That’s why Lydia visits Rockwell Agency in the first place. Immediately, though, things start to go wrong as Lydia is deeply attracted to Quentin and feels terrible when her lies blow up in her face, alienating him. Even worse than the fact that she’s betrayed him is the fact that suddenly Lydia has a real problem on her hands. When someone she deeply loves goes missing, will she be able to persuade Quentin and his co-workers to trust her enough to help her with a real problem?PART IVLiam O’Malley is a ladies’ man—no two ways about it. Devastatingly handsome, and a high-powered lawyer to boot, he’s more than slightly popular with the female crowd but has no interest in a long-term romantic relationship. As kind as he is good-looking, Liam makes sure he’s on the same page with any woman he spends time with, including Trinity Calhoun. He and Trinity had a good time for a while, or so he thought, and they both agreed things between them would never progress beyond a physical relationship. So when Trinity’s grandmother shows up and not only accuses Liam of stealing from Trinity but then puts a curse on him, Liam is blindsided.
This was a great series and I had a hard time putting it down. The last book does have some errors (wrong names used and other minor writing mistakes) but otherwise it was perfect. Each story has plenty of suspense and romance and I loved that each book flowed effortlessly into the next without any big time gaps. I love reading shifter books and this one wasn't over the top like some are. It was the perfect amount of supernatural!
Norman Rockwell? Really? Couldn’t find a better given name other then a famous author. The Character Lydia is such an immature silly girl its hard to fathom she could attract a serious man. That book needs serious editing as the characters keep being called by the wrong names. Not a great read. Kind of juvenile.
The storyline was good but the spelling and names wrong often the last book was the worst.I was born in Bristol so the first book was good for me don't think I ever come across one from my hometown before, not that it was but she was from there. First time reading from this author, she really needs someone to proff read as it needed editing badly.
What a happy fun story for all of the clan and they're mate's , it was very interesting and entertaining to Read , I can't wait to read more about them. Loved all of the stories
It was certainly a different read from what I expected, and, not really sure what I think of it. If you're into reading supernatural books though, you'll probably enjoy it.
