Aubrey is a newly single woman looking for a fresh start. Fleeing from everything and nothing all at the same time. She stumbles her way to Silverton, TX in hopes that her past won't find her. By day one she has pissed off a hot broody cowboy, one deceased pant suit and her favourite heels are missing one heel. When the local doctor offers to help her settle in by offering her to stay on the family ranch, she's grateful. Until she finds the pissed off and delicious cowboy is the doctor's brother and her new landlord.
Remington doesn't have time for distractions. He closed himself off from all possible happy endings after a devastating heartbreak. He's done taking crap from anyone and letting his heart get hurt. When a prim and proper woman pushes his buttons, he has no problem telling her to haul the stick out of her rear. Thinking he would never have to see her again, he doesn't think much of it. Until his sister volunteers his ranch to the feisty woman who is all attitude packaged in one tempting little firecracker.
When Aubrey's past follows her to Silverton, will the McGuire's step up to help her and will Remi find his heart in the process? Will they take the risk or will the option be ripped from their hands?
I was sent this book by voracious readers. This is this author's first book and I must say I cannot wait to see what she does next The book had a great storyline and I was drawn into the relationship between Aubery and Remi as they fought their feelings for each other. Its s great story of family loyalty and the protection they all have for newcomer Aubery when her abusive x husband turns up. Well done M J Andrew's.
A fresh contemporary romance. This book has some juicy mystery elements as well as a strong and well developed romantic plot line. For fans of romance, this book has some steamy scenes in it which I am sure you will appreciate! A well written first book in the series. While I am not a big fan of romance novels I look forward to seeing where the rest of the series goes.
Thanks to the author M.J Andrews and Voracious Readers Only for a review copy in exchange for an honest review.
I was given a free copy of this book for an honest review.
We meet our heroine, Aubrey, at the beginning of a craptastic day, to cap off a craptastic couple months in her life. She has accepted a job in Texas, leaving her old life in Toronto behind. She hopes.
She was wrong...
Heartbroken Remington, wants nothing to do with his new houseguest, however his tune changes as jealousy and protectiveness come into play. With people dying around the county and no visible connection, lives are put on the line.

Overall a great story that setup a series revolving around the McClure family siblings. We only meet 5 of the 6 siblings in this book as one is currently deployed overseas. There’s Jordan, a doctor with her own clinic, who will be working closely with Aubrey, a psychologist. There’s Daisy, the owner of the only bar in town. Remington, the rancher, Sawyer the Sheriff, and Elliott the law student. Finn is deployed so we hear about him, but don’t meet him. A couple of them have had bad breakups, and there are clear indications that reconciliation may be possible for those 2 siblings. One sibling has a secret, that Audrey gets involved with, setting up the rest of the plot line.. take one psycho ex + pissed off motorcycle club + a substantial life insurance policy = a drama filled book with a wonderful HEA.
Aubrey and Remington both have been hurt in past relationships. Through a comical encounter, their lives start to intertwine and all hell breaks loose. In this story a smart, gorgeous, feisty lady and a stubborn, sexy, grumpy cowboy learn that a broken past and a broken heart don't mean you have to stay in pieces or shelter what's remaining...that maybe perhaps, together, they can become the glue that holds the pieces together and mends the tattered.
The base story concept is good. The writing itself had some issues. Spelling problems, tenses switching, if the timeline was off in some scenes. This is a quick, fun read if you can overlook all the errors. Had the book gone through proper editing, it would have been a 3.5 instead of a 2.
I received a free copy of this book from Voracious Readers. And I tell you what I'll happily read the next one.
I do love me a good cowboy romance and this one didn't disappoint me. It moves at at cracking pace and doesn't let you get bored with the story line.
Both Aubrey and Remi were characters you could like. I liked that Aubrey was a strong woman on her own. She didn't take any sh$t and that was awesome. I enjoy stories like that. Plus it's nice to know a good looking man appreciates that sort of stuff. :) The chemistry between these 2 was believable and i enjoyed the build up to the "action scenes" .
The book takes the opportunity to introduce you to the rest of the family and you can see there are going to be some great stories to come. I look forward to it!
This is a story about a woman, Aubrey, beginning a new life in Texas after she leaves her husband. She meets the love interest, Remi, and his family and things begin to evolve from there. I liked the relationship between Remi and Aubrey, it was equal parts smutty and romantic. I also enjoyed all the familial bonds within the McGuire family, but sadly not enough to read the other books in the series. For an adult book, the choice of language seemed immature to the point of making me cringe on every other page. It definitely could do with a good edit. I also thought the plot got too disbelieving towards the end: more drama than actually sense.
Thank you for such a wonderful story. This is a wonderful western romance, filled with some laughter and some mystery. Aubrey is starting life over by relocating to Silverton, Texas. When her car breaks down and she walks a few miles into town in search of some help. She has a run in with a few cowboys that makes her day go from bad to worse. She meets the town doctor and is offered a place to stay on her family’s ranch, only to run into the same rude cowboys. Aubrey meets the McGuire men and her life changes forever. This is a wonderful story about people and second chances. I really enjoyed these characters, and I recommend this as a must read.
I loved this book! The character development was great, and I felt like I really got to know all of them. I also liked the main character Aubrey and her “firecracker” spirit. This book reminded me of a Julie Garwood novel, since there was an element of crime involved.
I won a copy of this book from Goodreads giveaways, I was not required to give a favorable review. It starts a little slow, but the characters have great personalities. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a new romance after hurt.
I love the cowboy love interest there is just something about a rugged broody man that works outside that works for me. Loved the characters had me chuckling a time or two and the explosive chemistry between them is such a good read
I received this book from Voracious Reader. It’s is definitely my kind of read...romance, alittle suspense and action, some angst and happily ever after! Love the premise of the story and that it had some Canadian reference(being that I’m an Ontarian myself) would have enjoyed more in-depth description in certain scenes...sometimes the story seemed rushed. Overall I enjoyed this read and look forward to reading more about the McGuire family! Thanks MJ Andrews for sharing your stories.
This was a great read. I loved the characters from the first meeting 😂😂 & everything that followed. It has great story to keep you interested. I would definitely recommend this book !
A second chance romance between a cowboy and a woman wanting start over after a disastrous marriage but they hit it off on the wrong foot when they first meet.
But fate would find them thrown together when she moves in his family ranch temporary. Chemistry will heat up between the two of them despite themselves.
Soon her past will catch up with her and threatened their chance to be together. It will either bring them closer together or tear them apart.
I loved the characters in this story! They were so fun to get to know. I loved laughing my way through their love story! It had just the right amount of thrills and discord. It was easy to follow and such a fun ride!
I was sent this book from voracious readers. It desperately needs a good editor, and was a but unrealistic at times when it came to the law and such, but it was a good read. I loved the characters and can’t wait to read more about the McGuires.
I wanted something light and quick after my last book and this was it. It’s a steamy little romance with cowboys, bikers, evil ex husbands and Texas hospitality.
I like the chemistry between Aubrey & Remi and the description of his family. This book sets up the premise for a series in the love life of the rest of the family members. I’m going to be picking up the next book after this.
Healing the Heart of a Cowboy appears to be a standalone but I can easily see it turning into a series as there are six siblings in total, all with a story to tell.
We start off with Aubrey as she makes her escape from Canada to Texas. She has one mishap after another and really doesn't get the best start in a new town. Things get even worse when her new friend puts her up at the Ranch of the same man who made her blood boil not so long before.
There was attraction sparking off the page between Remi and Aubrey although, of course, you know they won't act on it too soon. Aubrey is taken under the wing of the Ranch siblings and the town all too easily and the timeline for that isn't always clear. That protectiveness is shown fully when her ex appears in town.
There are two points to this story that I wasn't sure where it was going with. 1) - Elliot and Harley. 2) - JT and the insurance policy. I understand how these two had to work together to get Aubrey but they just didn't seem "real", if you know what I mean. You do get a bit more about JT but next to nothing about the reasons Elliot owes Harley.
All in all, this was an easy read with plenty of characters for future books. There is also a perfect little epilogue at the end, just for those greedy readers like me! If you are looking for a cute #Western #Contemporary #Romance with a bit of #Suspense thrown in, then I can definitely recommend this book.
I received an Advanced Review Copy of the book on Reedsy Discovery.
This book was a wonderful and heart warming story. The characters and story made me not want to put it down. I look forward to another of MJ Andrews books being released next month.
Aubrey is a clinical psychologist who leaves her life in Canada to escape her abusive husband. She ends up on a ranch filled with smoking hot cowboys. Some drama follows her and her new man, Remington, saves the day.
This book barely got 3 stars. It resonated too strongly with Mindy Neffs series on Texas cowboys however was not as well executed. I got the sense that the author has tons of potential to create a great narrative with a relatable protagonist and a much hated antagonist, but then they ran out of time and threw the ideas together.
I didn't enjoy the cussing, the storyline was not particularly believable (how does a town Sheriff never seem to spend any time at the office but is always on the family ranch?), the spelling/grammatical errors were all over the place, and I didn't connect with any of the characters. For example, the main character is a clinical psychologist but you'd never know that from reading about her. The author had to state it. That being said, by the middle of the book the narrative picks up and becomes more interesting.

I received a copy of this book from voracious readers and I absolutely loved it. The characters were all unique and relatable, my favourite character was Aubrey because of how strong and feisty she was. I loved the way each character interacted with each over and they all had interesting and different types of relationships and dynamics. I loved the way everything was described and paced. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes romances.
Romance comes to Texas. One to Texas and watch the romance unfold as Semi protects his "Firecracker." This is definitely a romance with all the twists and turns you can imagine, even a biker gang. Watch for surprises. It's a cute easy read for a quiet afternoon. Definitely adult only due to sex and violence. An all-around good read. Thanks to Voracious Readers Only for the chance to read this book.
I love a good romance that includes a cowboy. This was a great story about 2 people that had been hurt in the past and had trust issues. Throw in a estranged husband that has the worst intentions and the story just kept you turning the pages. It introduces you to other cheaters that I hope to read more of.
