Heroes of Ravenford #5

The Baron's Heart

Rate this book
A brutal murder. A stolen heart. A race against time—and death itself.

The Baron of Ravenford lies dead in his chambers, his heart ripped from his chest. Divine magic can revive him—but only if his heart is recovered in time. Now his daughter, a fiercely determined Lady Andrella, joins the valiant young heroes on a desperate quest to save her father.

Who killed Baron Gryswold? Why steal his heart? Was it a crime of passion—or the first move in a sinister plot? As townsfolk vanish and rumors of a Dunwynn conspiracy spread, the heroes uncover a chilling truth.

From Vermoorden’s treacherous underside to the ancient catacombs beneath Ravenford, they face deadly assassins, bloodthirsty vampires, and the ominous signs of a dark lord’s return. Can they recover the Baron’s heart before time runs out—or will Ravenford fall to eternal darkness?

I want more

I love the Heroes of Ravenford. They are all rather cool, each one unique, and the author has crafted them in such a way as I actually care about them.

I lobe the setting, and the familiarity it brings a place that is recognisable yet full of wonder and magic.

I have been following the adventures of the Heroes since they first came out and have not regretted my decision yet.

F. P. Spirit and Kathryn Fogleman for some great writing, loveable characters, and great plot!

A desperate search for a stolen heart uncovers an approaching darkness beyond what the heroes have ever seen. Yet they tackle this terror with the unstoppable courage that characterizes every journey with them.
The original crew continues to keep us enthralled in their journey with recently added companions making their mark as well. Glolindir must put aside his recent heartbreak to concentrate on ever daunting task of ensuring his companions continued safety. Aksel will face perhaps his greatest challenge yet, as he is called on to perform what seems to be the impossible. Then there is the halfling Seth, whose endless reservoir of talents manage to be exactly what his companions need to get them in and out of the most hopeless situations at the last second. Finally, there’s Lloyd whose knightly strength in battle is only matched by the kindness of his heart. Lloyd is able to bring down the defenses of seemingly the most difficult of individuals and turn them into an ally with his contagious good nature while there’s no doubt of his ever- growing affection for Princess Andrella. As for the Princess Andrella, she shows all the reasons why she is the perfect match to Lloyd in this journey. She is determined to find her father’s heart in time and won’t be talked out of being a part of the quest to do so. Moreover, she doesn’t hesitate to join every battle, despite the danger to herself. She proves there’s a tougher side to this princess. Yet each companion brings their own flavor to the path, whether it be Elladen’s skills of diplomatic improv or Kalyn’s perfectly aimed arrow into the enemy with her fiery, unique way of speaking.
And everyone will be firing on all cylinders as the threat comes closer to fruition and time runs out to the save the Baron. It proves to be another exhilarating, action-packed journey with our heroes.

I love this storyline. I love watching the interactions between the characters. Each addition meshes smoothly with the core group in a way that doesn’t deter from anyone’s capabilities.
