First off, hell yes there are going to be spoilers, so if you don’t want to hear them, back out now.

I haven’t reviewed a book in quite some time, but I feel compelled to do so now.

This book is split into three installments, with cliffys at the end of books one and two. That’s really how they get you, isn’t it? Like drug dealers, the first one is always free, and you have to pay to find out what happens in all subsequent installments.

Yeah, ok, in the grand scheme of things, $5 isn’t a huge burden per installment. But in our current climate, many people have lost their jobs or have had their pay reduced, so making ends meet is a bigger struggle than it used to be.

Book One - ‘the Harlow show’
Pretty much a Pollyanna story where her parents are painted evil. Ok.
She meets and is tormented by he family she grew up believing was evil. Mid-book, that torment turns to insta-love between Harlow and three Bishop brothers.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have issues with polyamory. In fact, sign me the hell up.

It’s just that it seems like a weak excuse to write a poly romance. Like the authors were struggling to come up with a new book idea, and light bulb! Ooh let’s write a poly story!

Book Two - Harlow loses her memory
Evil parents now have control of her again and try to force her to marry someone she doesn’t know or love.

We get it, your parents are evil.

Things really start going downhill from here.

She is saved by the Bishops and for some reason, her memory loss is ignored and forgotten- ha! See what I did there? Seriously though, her amnesia is ignored after the first few chapters and there is never a grand revelation of her memory being restored, or even further discussion about how her amnesia is affecting her life.

All is going well, until BAM! She faints and book two ends.

Book Three - we GET it! Your parents are evil!
Harlow wakes up in a hospital surrounded by her evil parents and the guy they want her to marry. Her monster dad reveals that she is pregnant and he’s going to force her to have an abortion. Harlow attempts to get hospital staff to help her but they refuse.

Ok, time out. There are SOOOOO MANY problems with this scenario. Allow me to touch on a few.

First, the pregnancy trope.
Duh, that’s what happens when you have unprotected sex with three men. Birth control is only 99% effective, and there was zero discussion with any of them about protection. Only once did any of the men wear protection, and then it was ignored. EYE ROLL

Second, I have a problem with the pregnancy reveal. If any of you have read any of my reviews, you’ll know that I LOATHE the pregnancy trope. This one was the worst I’ve read. Harlow didn’t freak out, she didn’t get scared or mad or frightened about what was going to happen with her being a college student mom. Nope! It was literally-

“I’m pregnant?!”
OMG I LOVE THIS BABY SO MUCH!”

That fast. One second from learning she’s pregnant, she is determined to have the child. There’s no internal monologue of how she’s always wanted children, always wanted to be a mom. Nothing.

Finally, and I cannot stress this vociferously enough, being forced to stay in the hospital and being forced to have an abortion by her parents, as an adult woman of sound mind, would NEVER HAPPEN! I don’t care how rich you are or how powerful your sphere of influence (there’s a mob tie-in here that was never flushed out, just I think a weak ploy to provide a ready crew of paid thugs), a hospital and all of its staff would never go against a patient. There are so many as aspects of HIPAA law that is being broken here that it’s really pathetic, and so many lawsuits that would be filed, no amount of bribery would be worth it.

Then, somehow the unwanted fiancé gets to the doctor performing the abortion and pays him off to not perform it. How exactly did THAT happen?! The evil dad was controlling all the staff, and was in the room as they drugged Harlow and took her away for the procedure. So unreal.

And finally, finally the epilogue was just a gratuitous and contrived excuse for another lame sex scene, during which Harlow thinks, ‘it’s been awhile since we’ve had a threesome’. Um, hello? Apparently math doesn’t apply since there’s one Harlow and three brothers.

Whatever. I don’t care. Once the pregnancy was thrown in I almost quit reading, but finished it, honestly only to see up just how bad it got.

I wasn’t disappointed in that at least, because it was all pretty bad.

A story of 2 families with a hatred transmitted to their own children: Bishop and Lockwood. What started as a revenge ends up becoming a love story that breaks with all the conventions.
In these books you will find betrayals, lies, kidnappings, assassination attempts, arranged marriage, passion, lust and love.
Here you have a sample of what awaits you:

“Every nightmare I’ve had over the last year would never have amounted to this. All three of their faces have haunted me in my sleep since that night. I regretted doing it as soon as I did it, but there was no taking it back, there was no changing the course we were headed on. It was like a bad accident, that you couldn’t look away from.”

Turning around I start to walk away from her, the house, and most importantly away from the Bishops. Everything is ruined now. They’ve come for their revenge and there isn’t a damn thing I can do to stop them. I have no one to protect me now. After all I did for my father, I have no one to blame but myself. I’m the one who needs to suffer the consequences.

They’re bullies, and I’m the victim of their torment, so why do I feel like falling to my knees for them?

“Your dreams are coming true, Princess, you’ll get to sleep with each of the Bishop Brothers,”

“We can’t help it, all three of us want you. The question is, do you want all of us?”And if that isn’t the million-dollar question, I don’t know what is.

, “Would it be weird if I said I was in love with three guys?” Caroline blinks, a neutral look on her heart shaped face, “It’s 2019, who cares if you love three guys? Love is love, right?”

“Watch it, Harlow, my brothers and I can bring you great pleasure, but we can also bring you great pain.”

“You want to know what’s wrong? I want you, I want all three of you, even after everything, I want you, and trust me, I know I shouldn't, I know it’s wrong and it will never, ever work, and I know you’re back to hating me. “We all want something that we can never have, and you, Harlow, are the one thing my brothers and I can never have.”Your family’s damaged mine and I can’t betray my parents by loving the enemy.”

“You want them too, don’t you? You want all three of us.”

“You’re my home. The beginning, the end, and everything in between,” he whispers. We’re all together in this, Harlow. Where you go, we go. “You’re so fucking beautiful and perfect, Harlow. I know you think that everything bad that happens is your fault, but you don’t see the joy that you bring. You don’t see how happy you make us; how much better our lives are because of you.”

When Rivals Fall: A Bully Romance (Bayshore Rivals Book 1)

After Harlow Lockwood finds out her father lied and used her to ruin the Bishop family, she enrols at Bayshore University. Harlow doesn’t want anything to do with her old life, the drama, the hate, the revenge. Harlow knew someday karma would catch up with her but she just never expected it to be so soon. Turns out Sullivan, Banks and Oliver Bishop are also students at Bayshore University. Harlow knows she's in trouble when Sullivan tells her "You can never get away from us. We’ll find you wherever you go, and we will make you pay for what you did.” So why is Harlow so attracted to the Bishop brothers? Note: this story ends on a cliffhanger.

When Rivals Lose: A Bully Romance (Bayshore Rivals Book 2)

Harlow wakes up after a hit and run with no memory. Harlow's parents tell her she spent most of her time with her friend Shelby or her fiancé Matt after she graduated high school and wanted to take a year off before thinking about college. Harlow is confused when a very attractive man named Sullivan Bishop warns her “Your parents are lying to you. You weren’t happy here. It’s all a lie.” When Harlow asks about Sullivan, she's told he's the enemy. If Sullivan is supposed to be an enemy then why does Harlow have a memory of them kissing each other? And why did Sullivan find her and say he wants to help her? Note: this story ends on a cliffhanger.

When Rivals Love: A Bully Romance (Bayshore Rivals Book 3)

Harlow has been warned several times that someone is trying to kill her but she never wanted to believe it. Which is why the Bishop brothers have to kidnap Harlow to keep her safe and they go back to Bayshore University. But Harlow's not out of danger yet. In addition to Harlow's would be killer on the loose, people have been looking for Harlow, asking questions about her. With jaw dropping secrets being uncovered at every turn and Harlow's memory slowly being recovered, the puzzle pieces start to come together but there's still so many questions and not enough answers. Will Harlow and the Bishop brothers get their HEA?

The Bayshore Rivals is a dark, heart-breakbreaking, suspenseful, and steamy series full of twists and turns that's completely addictive and a must read!

Review is by book since this is a series.

When Rivals Fall - 5 stars

Harlow leaves her parents to attend college as far away as possible. She found out they were manipulating her into damaging the reputation of a rival family. She ended up hurting Sullivan pretty badly and now she finds herself in the clutches of him and his two brothers, Banks and Oliver. They are all three planning on making Harlow's life a living nightmare. This is the first book in this series so it does end with one h*ll of a cliffhanger. I'm looking forward to finding out what happens to Harlow next.

When Rivals Lose - 5 stars

With all the crap that has been going on in Harlow's life she doesn't know what to think or who to trust. Can she trust the Bishop brothers; Sullivan, Oliver and Banks? Or are they just out to cause her more heart break, humiliation and pain? What about her parents or her best friend, Shelby, can they be trusted? This book is so intriguing, suspenseful and heart breaking. I started reading and couldn't put it down until the very end.I

When Rivals Love - 5 stars

Harlow is in love with the Bishop brothers; Oliver, Sullivan and Banks. Too bad her parents want her to marry Matt and someone is still out there that wants her dead. But not all is as it seems and there are secrets and lies that will bring Harlow's world crashing down around her. She doesn't know who to trust, except for the Bishop brothers she knows they are always on her side. Everyone else seems to have their own agenda and they all want Harlow for something. This is an excellent conclusion to this dark, twisted reverse harem romance.

Excellent box set and 5 Stars all the way through. Definitely a great read and I highly recommend it!

WHEN RIVALS FALL
“They’re the enemy, my rivals.”

Harlow (age 18) is starting college away from her parents and rival family.
Oliver (age 20), Banks (age 19) and Sullivan (age18) are the 3 Bishop brothers that follow her there to torment her.

I feel like there is good potential for a story here and it felt more like a 1st draft. The boys are interesting but don’t really have distinct personalities. They seem to fight their feelings for her but it’s not really clear why. Maybe because the book is only written in Harlow’s POV we don’t know what the guys are thinking. The cliffhanger ending was good and shocking. I might start the 2nd one and see how it goes.

I was excited to see Xander Rossi mentioned as I am a fan of his series.

WHEN RIVALS LOSE
“You’re my home. The beginning, the end, and everything in between”

I liked this book more than the first. We are finally getting into the storyline and seeing the plot unfold. I still think the guys are very similar and think it could have been a better MF book or maybe even just 2 brothers. It ends on an interesting cliffhanger.

WHEN RIVALS LOVE:
“You belong with us”
This was a good conclusion to the story with some unexpected twists and an HEA I loved. It also had the naughtiest scenes with the 4 of them.
Overall it’s a good storyline but I think would have been better as a duet MF story. The 3 brothers did not have distinct personalities with only Sullivan really sticking out at moments.

All three "Bayshore Rivals" novels in one book.

I was able to purchase for free this collection of all three novels of the Bayshore Rivals in one book from Amazon.

Although I usually love Beck & Hallman's books, I did not find this trilogy to be as developed as other novels by these authors. We are told what the female mc, Harlow, did to evoke the wrath of the Bishop brothers, but the bully concept falls apart rather quickly. The male main characters (Sullivan, Banks, and Oliver) attach themselves to her and spread a few rumors, but within a couple of days they've fallen in love with her. The vibe is more high school than college. There's a lot of back and forth between the girl being with her parents who are at the very least indifferent and the Bishop boys who thought they hated her, were going to bully her, but in the matter of a very short time decide they love and desire her. Someone's trying to kill her, her parents are trying to force her into an arranged marriage to foster a business merger, and secrets from the past reveal details about both Harlow and her lovers' families. The story gets messy. Some questions are answered. Some things are resolved. Everyone (likable) lives happily ever after at the end.

I wish I could recommend this book. The authors usually do a phenomenal job. This series just needs work to bring it to the level of excellence I've come to expect from Beck & Hallman works.

When Rivals Fall is a fantastic bully, enemies to lovers romance. I devoured this story and loved every second of it! The Lockwood's and The Bishop's have always been rivals but Harlow took it to far. Now Sullivan, Oliver and Banks want their revenge. This story will have you feeling all emotions... hate, love, anger, sadness, betrayal and angst. Damn that end- I need to get my hands on book two now!! Gimme!!
When Rivals Lose is addicting, suspenseful and intriguing. This story has so many unexpected twists and turns. We pick up after the accident with Harlow in the hospital with no memory. Will she remember or will it be too late? Will she sacrifice her own wants and needs to save the one's she loves? This was a great second book that kept me hook from the beginning to end. Can't wait to get my hands on book three!!
When Rivals Love was a fantastic conclusion to this awesome trilogy. We're back with Harlow and the Bishop brother's. Can the brother's keep her safe? Will she remember? This story has so many unexpected surprises with ups and downs, twists and turns. Just a great mix of drama, suspense, mystery, steamy passion and lots of love. Start at book one and enjoy the ride!

OMFG!! This is such a good series. While reading this I had so many emotions flowing through me. My heart broke for what Harlow had to go through. There were so many people who deserved to be throat punched and smacked upside the head. Her parents need to be institutionalized, they are a couple of crazies. The boys messed up, but they work to prove to Harlow they want her and will do what it takes to get her to believe them.
There is suspense, lies, deceit, secrets, rivalry , heartache, danger and enemies. The twists and turns will make you go, WTHeck is going on!! There are a few of those WTH moments. Banks, Oliver and Sullivan want to do everything and anything to keep Harlow safe. They have such a strong connection and it gets stronger as their story progresses and their chemistry is off the charts hot. This storyline is fantastic and I love all the main characters. It kept me on the edge of my seat waiting for what was going to happen next. Don’t pass up on this series.

Overall pretty good

****The Bayshore Rivals Series by J.L. Beck and C. Hallman: 3.5 stars overall

****When Rivals Fall #1: Good series starter
There’s a lot going on in this story, where nothing is what it seems. Ends on a cliffhanger...

****When Rivals Lose #2: Good story
A big mystery as to who wants to kill Harlow. surprising twists in this story, and true love. Ends on a cliffhanger.

***When Rivals Love: This story didn’t feel believable, and has a lot of craziness...
This review contains a spoiler because there is a glaring disconnect in this book. The three Bishop brothers are (2 years/1 year/and same age) as Harlow. Both their dad’s were involved in a love triangle with childhood friend Phoebe (which resulted in Harlow’s birth), so was Mr. Bishop already married with kids? This story has craziness, murder, and parental madness, but all ends with an HEA.

// Although I love high school/college bully romance so so much (and boy does my recently read list show it), I have yet to come across an actual RH romance novel in this “genre”... and I’m finding I am not the biggest of having multiple romance interests!! I want to root for adversity and challenges for a single couple

+ I don’t think it’s fair to rate books I didn’t finish so this will just be added to my read list!

The Bayshore Rivals is the first book I have read by either Author and it was beyond amazing. The hate, secerts, twist, fear and love in this book were spot on, you could feel it. I was engrossed with every page, I didn't want it to end. The only thing I wish they would have added is seeing more of their HEA. Otherwise it was an amazing book to read. I can't wait to read more books by Hallman and Beck.

This series is bloody awesome!!!! There were so many twists, turns and deadset WTF moments in this books. I did not expect alot of what happened within the books... totally blindsided (which is always good as you dont want to be predicting what's going to happen) and the sexy times in these books... WOAH... *fans face*. You wont be disappointed reading this series!!!

Love!

When I got this trilogy I was ready a different book but this description stuck with me. So as soon as I finished I started reading this. I finished all 3 books within 24 hours. The plot lines and all the twists and turns they provided made for a book/books I didn't want to put down.

Unpredictable

Without checking, this seems like an early work from this author. I love the characters and the relationships. The plot has an undercurrent of danger that's very unpredictable. There's also a lot of angst. However, the plot isn't as tight as later books. I did enjoy this.

This book was all kinds of hot! The lack of proofreading and copy editing let the book down, but the story was spicy as hell. A few predictable events, but not enough to spoil the story. Lots of action makes the read eventful.

This Book was an amazing read. I finished it in 7 hours because it kept my attention that well. I loved the relationship between Sullivan, Oliver, Banks, and Harlow. It also kept me on an emotional rollacoaster because I didn’t know if things would work out or not. The shocking reveals in this book was so shocking that I felt bad for some of the characters. The person who I thought was the bad guys wasn’t and had me questioning my judgement. My favorite part honestly is when they were able to work things out for the better. I am so glad I purchase this book!!!

When Rivals Fall
(Bayshore Rivals Book One) by Cassandra Hallman, J.L. Beck

Let me first say this about the book before I begin, Lord have Mercy be still my heart! What!#!? What!#!? What!#!? Just Happened I am BLOWN AWAY!! Ya'll have damn done it again and it wrecked me. I'm still thinking about everything and everyone with a whole new light! Bravo ladies you started this series with a bang!
Now that I got that out ......

The Lockwoods and the Bishop families have been nasty bitter rivals for decades. Their children never really knew why but were taught to hate each other because of their parents. Then one night when Harlow Lockwoods was sixteen her father sent her to a party to place a baggie in Sullivan Bishop pocket. She had a bad feeling and didn't want to do it but her father gave her no choice. Two years later when she turned eighteen she took her trust fund and moved as far away from her lying manipulating family as she could only to find herself at the mercy of the Bishop brothers Sullivan, Oliver and Banks. Her chance to start over as a care free regular college student would never come to be.

There are so many twist, turns, ups and downs that you won't be able to put this book down. You can feel the hurt, anguish, and even desire in Harlow at each and every turn. Just when you think you know what is going on WHAM it takes a different turn. The ending shocked me totally unexpected and Holy Hell What A Cliffhanger! I can not wait for the next book When Rivals Lose!

Five 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟I would give Ten if could!!!!!

When Rivals Lose

When Rivals Lose is the second book in the Bayshore Rivals Series and When Rivals Fall must be read first. Now with that being said......

WHOA, HOLY SMOKES, WHAT !?!?! What a twisted, emotional rollercoaster ride. The last book left us with one hell of a cliffhanger and this one was no exception. Harlow awakes too find herself with no memory surrounded by people who claim to be her parents yet she feels no pull towards them. She is brought to a beautiful home that feels like a prison. As the days pass she begins to feel more uncomfortable with her situation then she discovers her family's been lying. She is drawn to the Bishop boys, Oliver, Banks and Sullivan but she is told to stay away from them. Which leads her to second guess who to trust. Can she survive the bullying, lies, betrayal or will the truth and memories resurface before it's too late? There are so many twist, turns, ups and downs, suspense and danger lurking around every corner that you will be on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next.

Five nail biting beautiful twisted 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

When Rivals Love by JL Beck and Cassandra Hallman

Whoa talk about one explosive final conclusion. It was everything I hoped for and so much more. It was full of twists, turns, shocking revolutions, dangerous cray cray people and even a run in with the Rossi's Crime family. This story will have you on the edge of your seat with anticipation waiting to see what happens next. It will have you aahing, oohing, nail biting, cussing, wanting to more than punch a few people and having you change your panties and take a cold shower all by the time finish. Lord this is one heck of a ride I didn't want to end.

Ladies you have done it again! I wish I could give you more that five stars because you deserve the galaxy!

Five beautiful/hot 🔥🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

It was okay.

What is it with editing these days? A lot of writers are becoming very lazy.

The story was okay but there was not depth to the characters and Harlow, the main character was rather shallow not to mention stupid. The girl finds out about her mother and doesn't even ask what her whole name was, much less if there are any relatives. And the boys are just as dumb. They created all those problems on campus then thought they would magically disappear when they had a change of heart? Really?

And school and the timeline. How are they all sharing classes when Oliver should at least be in his junior year but more likely senior year since there was a two years gap between the prologue and first chapter? A lot just made no sense.
