A monster has replaced the man I used to love, the man I gave my heart to. Now he refuses to give it back. He'd rather see it burned to ashes than free to love another.
He tries to fool me into thinking our marriage is real. I think it's over. It ended the moment he stole my freedom.
He claims to still love me. I don't believe him. How could a heart as dark and damaged as his be capable of love?
He believes he can get away with holding me captive and killing me inside one day at a time. I hope he's wrong because I don't know how much more torture my heart can take.
Our marriage is a sham. His love is a lie. My fear of him is more real than anything I have ever experienced before. It might just kill me before he does. Unless I fight to the bitter end of us.
Dori Lavelle is a mother, wife, and sucker for happy ever afters and mint chocolate. Hand her a great romance novel and a mug of hot chocolate and she'd be one happy woman.
A thrilling conclusion to the Beautiful Ashes duet.
This is book two in the Beautiful Ashes duet, please be sure to read Perfect Liar before reading this book to get the beginning of Hunter and Bree's story.
This book picks up right where book one leaves off and Hunter is determined to get Bree into her roll as his perfect wife. After all his careful planning they are now Dave and Amanda, he can only hope that she never gets her memory back. Of course things never go as planned and now Hunter must decide how to play the new cards he has been dealt. Will he be able to control Bree or is it time for her life to come to an end so she can remain his as Beautiful Ashes. This is an intriguing duet and I highly recommend it!
Our hero is a control freak, to the point of erasing our heroine's memory to mold her into the perfect wife. Can she resist his control or will she become the perfect puppet?
This is book two of the series. I stumbled into it without reading book one, completely my own fault. The good news is that I was still able to enjoy the story, but I do think it would have been even better if I read them in order. So I recommended starting with book one.
This is an intense psychological thriller masquerading as a dark romance. There is no romance here from my perspective as our hero is rather dark and depraved. The story was really well written, but hard to read because of intensity of the drama. The characters are also well developed with a lot of depth to them which helps make things seem real (which is a problem since our hero gives me the creeps). The story has lots of twists and turns and I won't tell you how it ends, but I will say it was hard to put down once you start. Also, not necessarily a good read right before bedtime. Just saying. Overall, good in a somewhat disturbing way.
Recommended.

This is book two in the Beautiful Ashes Duet. Bree and Hunter's story continues. Bree is learning that if Hunter cannot keep her, there is a real possibility that no one gets her. Time is ticking and Bree begins to wonder if Hunter will win. She continues to fight and be as sneaky as she can because one false move and all the cards can fall before she is ready. Can Bree keep it together to win the war or will Hunter? An absolutely captivating duet! What a great read, it is so dark and twisty, contains a love based on lies and enough suspense to keep you turning those pages as fast as you can read. Enjoy!

CRAZY Page Turner! A crazy twisted page turner that excites and frustrated me as this brilliantly written story finally comes to an end. This series has been like a tug of war match on my emotions trying to take my pity but only ends up frustrating me more for me willing to cave in an give it when it to for the wrong darn person playing me like such a fool that can only happen at the hands of Dori's writing to which makes me favor her writing even more. It's insanely twisted that brings out all the right and wrong emotions that is impossible to put down.
Hunter has become Dave, and Bree has become Amanda but they're the same people we met in Perfect Liar. This is a duet and you have to read part one first. No matter how awful and abusive Hunter becomes, Bree will not let him break her. He tries, physically and mentally, over and over. I loved the cat-and-mouse aspect, just when you think Bree has a chance, he squashes it. Dark and scary, this fast-paced, violent story ends with long-held secrets pouring out. Great, easy to follow psychological thriller.

This was such a page turner. After reading book one I had to have book two. This story is just crazy! I am sure there have been real life stories out there similar to this and it just has my mind reeling.
I was a little disappointed with the end of Hunter. It was too quick. I wanted him to suffer greatly for all the things he did. I felt like we got no real justice.
I was happy Bree was able to start living again and get her start of a HEA but honestly after what she went through I don't know how she even entertained the idea of getting involved with someone again, even 2 years later.
This novel blew my mind. Chased away the brain fog I had been experiencing and settled me just right. There are many people with similar stories, which makes this novel relatable in a creepy sort of way. The plot was well woven and the characters were spot on. The reader wants to turn the page and sometimes wants to jump to the end to see what happens. Just my opinion, Hunter should have suffered more. Glad there is a happy ever after for Bree.

Wow this was done read, I will admit that I started this book months ago and then it got lost among the other books I was reading at the time but I decided to pick it up again over the weekend and it's like I never left these characters. Hunter was a product of his upbringing but he could've chose to better that his mother but he turned out much worse and Bree aka Amanda was a unwilling victim but in the ending she fought and ultimately won against her worst nightmare. Did I did a good job on this series.
The story starts where it left us in book 1, what a great read this was. This author knows how to write a great male character that you will hate.... sometimes you start to feel sorry for him but..... he can never be redeemed. I love how Dori can make me feel so many emotions while reading. Anyway I really loved this story and it is so worth the wait. Another great written book by Dori.
This was quite an ending to the Beautiful Ashes duet. Hunter took his power over Bree/Amanda to new levels and went to extremes to try and break her. Every time she thought she might have a chance to escape, or get help from someone, he ends up turning it around to make her look like she’s crazy. He never gives up, and you just can’t help but hate him more and more with each page you turn. Leads to an interesting ending ;)
Great ending to this intense duet. Hunter is becoming more unhinged. Bree is trying to stay strong and endure. Both are determined to have the outcome they want. There will only be one winner though. Ms. Lavelle wrote a gripping captivating plot. The reason why Hunter is the way he is was something new to me. I really liked it and saw it as really plausible. Perfect Ending was truly a perfect ending.
Wow! An amazing ending to this duet! It sucked me in from the first page and didn't let up until I read the last word. The story has a gripping storyline, amazing fleshed out characters and an absolute page-turner that kept me on the edge of my seat. It is dark, twisted, suspenseful and it's emotional, everything you need in a psychological thriller. A great read, one I definitely recommend!

Holy Moley That's a Hell of an ending to the Beautiful Ashes duet! After Bree leaves Hunter, things really escalate! He becomes Dave she becomes Amanda. And the story that's woven will blow your mind. Amanda only has one shot left, to be free, will she take it? This story is high intrigue, but will break your heart too How can love become so hateful and twisted?
A beautiful ending to this duet! The story has a gripping storyline, amazing characters . It’s great a psychological thriller. It’s dark, twisted and emotional. It’s an absolute page-turner. I definitely recommend!

Whoa! There are twist and turns that I didn't see coming. You need to read book 1 before reading this one and you also need to come into this with an open mind. It will not go where you think. It was thrilling and exciting and just the perfect end!

Loved Bree’s determination to never give up OMG, book 2 in this series is some intense, dark reading, but through it all Dori never lets the reader give up hope! Hunter forces Bree to be the perfect wife, but not without Bree struggling to escape Hunter at every chance. I couldn’t put the book down hoping for Bree’s escape from Hunter and wondering how Bree recovers from it all.
Perfect End is an intense, dark and twisted story and the perfect ending to the Beautiful Ashes duet. I definitely recommend you read Perfect Liar to fully understand Hunter/Dave and Bree/Amanda. This is a twisted page turning story and I really felt for Bree/Amanda from the first book until the last page of Perfect end. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
A continuation of the Perfect Liar, This book picks right up where the previous book left of. Dori is so incredibly talented and her books are always page turning good. You don't want to miss this series.
This author is amazing. Dark, mysterious, scary and a hint of steamy. I love reading these stories. There is a tingle of fear running down your spine as she takes you on a journey.

I understand how important it is to make the right choices in life when it come to your upbringing and to see that there are no excuses to hurting other because you’re hurt.
