As an up-and-coming football star and business major I don’t have time for girls. Even less do I have time to fantasize over my absolutely male roommate Cam.
Still, I find myself at DiverCity more often than not, studying at the bar just so I can maybe get a glimpse at the way he moves and smiles. He’s so different here. Free. Handsome. Tempting.
At home? That’s a whole different story. Nightmares. Fear. Avoidance. And I want to read every page, know every thing about him, so when I’m asked to help out the bar with some business advice? I’m right there no matter how much I don’t have the time, because the one thing I want more than a career is Cam...and now he’ll know that, too.
DiverCity—Seattle’s hottest bar—invites you to a place where love is love is love.
[I received a digital arc for an honest review] Completely Scared is the second book in Kamisa Cole's DiverCity series. I have read the first book in the series and even though it's the same group of close friends, I feel that this book can hold up well as a standalone. "I wanted Cameron with a ferocity that been growing for months."
I find this one hard to recap without giving away spoilers but it's definitely an emotional one. It deals with sexual assault, homophobic verbal abuse, discovering your sexuality for the first time and so much more. Finding yourself and living for you and not what others want from you. Trust, friendship, and support. I feel in love with the main characters, River is committed and a cinnamon roll who is all in when he makes a decision. Cameron is such a kind soul who suffered something horrible and his journey was admirable. The friendship that they form between them was refreshing and the sexual tension between them was everything. The sexual encounters between them were perfect, and they were a great combination between sweet and sexy that matched them as a couple. "Trust me?" "Yes." And how could I not when I knew he was claiming my heart a little more every second?
I enjoyed Completely Scared much more than the first book in the series and if they continue to improve with each one it will be a series I'll anticipate and keep an eye out for each new release. I'm really looking forward to whoever's book comes next!
I did not realize that this was a book two. It read as if it was it's own story. I loved reading about Cam and River. By the time I was a third of the way in I could not put this book down. It was addicting and emotional. Completely Scared set the tone for how my 2020 reading will hopefully go. I cannot wait for more books in this series!
Completely Scared is the second book in the Diver City series by author Kamisa Cole. I have not read the first book in this series and I was not lost starting with this book. This book is written in dual pov. I feel that it is really needed in this book. Cam has a great story arc and getting into his feelings and his headspace is important to this storyline. Cam, he was always a flirt and happy in his own skin. He might not advertise he is gay but if you were to ask him, he would not deny it. He goes to a Jock party when he is young, which changes his life forever. He is still the flirt, but he doesn’t take men home. He is good for a night now not forever. He will never let anyone get that close to him. He uses humor and charm to keep them at bay. River is Cam’s roommate. He is also a Jock. He is gay but has yet to have a gay experience or tell any of his friends he is gay. He is scared of what the team will say, and his homophobic father. I liked how in this story, each man has to overcome their own fears to find true happiness. I loved how River helped Cam. River is a strong character and Cam desperately needed his strength in this book. This is an angst-filled romance with memorable characters. I cannot wait for more from this series in the future. I know I will be now following it closely.
Book two of Divercity is here. We re-join the men of Divercity and Diversecurity. This story features sexy, flirty Cam from book one and his football star roommate River. The book has first time bi/gay, jock and non-jock and friends to lovers trope. I had a harder time when reading this one and I’m not sure why. The book was good but I don’t feel like I connected to the characters the way I did with the characters from book one. A word of warning/trigger warning for sexual assault that was briefly described on page and referred to throughout the book.
Kamisa Cole's Completely Scared, the second book in the DiverCity series, is a tough one for me to review. The writing isn't my favorite. I can't even figure out why; it just isn't. But I really enjoyed the story.
This is a roommates romance between River and Cam. River's a football player who can't help but to be attracted to his obviously gay roommate. And yes, this is the first guy he's been attracted to.
There's a lot of depth to this tale. It starts with a sexual assault scene, so be aware. It's not an explicit read, but it's a tough one.
After that, River's sexual awakenness is wonderful. The author does a terrific job taking him through his feelings. River and Cam are super cute together, and make for a fun couple. There are lots of first times that are super sexy. The flirting and confusion makes for a good read.
Overall, Completely Scared is a riveting book. Kamisa Cole's story development is good, and her characters even better. This story of deciding on one's future is well worth a read.
Life is tough for Cam a bad experience colors his whole life, making living in his shared apartment difficult. If that's not enough fantisizing about my straight roommate is just nuts, but seeing my best friend in such wonderful relationship maked me want more. For River, it is all about college and football though he's more interested in getting his degree, than in playing after he's been drafted to the pro's. He worries about his families expectations, if that's not bad enough he's falling for Cam and together they can become a very interesting possibility of a better future. I really enjoyed reading this fast paced emotional drama of how one event can color your life but with the right person there for you, together you can make it through it.
I really loved this book. It was very hard to read at times, but the story, love and everything was amazing.
I would have liked a trigger warning at the beginning of the book, as the start of the book was difficult to read. But I loved how Everything else was handled afterwards.
This book takes you through ups and downs and dealing with the aftermath of that first scene.
I loved Cam and River and the amazing relationship that develops between them. They were sweet and so sexy together. I loved the divercity family around them, and I can't wait to read more about these amazing men and women
Emotionally devastating for Cam I cried no one should ever go through that. River knew something was wrong but Cam wouldn’t say but once he found out all hell broke loose. I love the Diver City characters, how they look out for one another, Cam and River together was beautiful, their intimate scenes were sexy and hot, so much chemistry. This series just gets better and can’t wait for the next story.
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book for my honest opinions of which I’m under no obligation to do so. I definitely recommend this book.
River and Cam stole my heart. While it says you can read this as a stand alone, this is book two in a series and I think reading the first one would be a good introduction to this world. The love between River and Cam is beautiful and much needed as this story starts off on a pretty serious situation. This friends to lovers romance was a quick and satisfying read.
This was one of those fantastic, emotionally charged, raw, gritty, intense, smoking hot, grab-you-by-the-feels, poignant, bittersweet, amazing, heartbreaking yet hopeful, and totally awesome stories that had me hooked from the very first page. I would DEFINITELY recommend getting this marvelous book, and can't wait to see what happens next.
I'm completely and utterly in love with these characters. The emotions, the story, but also their connection to the people around them makes this an incredible book to start 2020 with for me. Every character introduced makes you fall in love with them and I cannot wait to read more about all of them.
