The Salt Mine #4

Mirror Mirror

Rate this book
When a local magician is found dead within hours of calling in a tip to the Salt Mine, agent Teresa Martinez—codename Lancer—delves deep into Detroit’s magical community for answers. Little does she know it is just the first of a string of deaths. As the mortality rate climbs, Martinez calls upon her colleagues as well as unlikely a Goth club owner, a succubus, and a retired shaman in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Will help come soon enough to stem the soaring body count? Mirror Mirror is the fourth book in the Salt Mine series, an exciting urban fantasy about the black ops agency that monitors supernatural activity from its subterranean headquarters in the deep salt mines of Detroit, Michigan, USA. If you enjoy the TV shows Supernatural, Grimm, Eureka, The Librarians, Warehouse 13, X-Files, Relic Hunter, or Fringe, you’ll enjoy reading the Salt Mine series as they keep a lid on the wild esoteric world of the occult. When magic is real, someone has to rein it in.

The investigations just keep getting more interesting! There are people dying of "asphyxiation off unknown origin". The first one is a magician who had just called in a tip to the Salt Mine. The next two happen on successive nights. The cause is supernatural and Old. FBI Special Agent Martinez has to investigate and get information on the others when the Detroit PD are on scene. A solution is determined, enacted, and fails. Leader has to dig deep to find a true solution, and it is costly.

Another fun, quick read. I liked getting to see Martinez work on her own in this book and get to see more agents come into the story. I feel like as the series continues more supernatural elements will start to come into play which I am enjoying so far. Looking forward to binging more of the series. Still in need of a better editor.
