This was used in a writing class that I took in the Spring of 2021. I found it both frustrating and inspiring. I think it helped stretch me as a writer, forcing me into trying new things. After 13 weeks of working through the prompts, though, I am incredibly sick of the 5 essays in the back that are used over and over for prompts. I understand the purpose, but I am over it after these many weeks. I think it was a good choice for this class, though.

I think this is a great book for teaching incoming college freshmen. My students seemed to love it and engaged really well with it. Class discussions looked great. I really hope it helped them understand writing better. Many stated they learned more from this book than they did all through high school.
