So the never ending cycle of Hades begins by him being like she left me, it was the right choice for her safety but still she betrayed me.

“She did—for her and Andrew. But she still left me. She still abandoned me. That fucking hurts. She didn’t put space between us while keeping us together. She divorced me. She signed the papers and left.”

Honestly I get his point though. This man has done so much for Sofia and when it’s time for HER to show support she leaves him.

And Sofia, is acting like a sad heartbroken heroin when he isn’t being the same Hades as he was when they were married. Duh, again he did so much for you and you left him. You didn’t just distance yourself from him or took sometime for yourself, YOU DIVORCED HIM. Like he was the one who raped you.

”He used to drop everything for me. Now I wasn’t the most important thing in his life.”

”This break was so clean that it was emotionless. It was hard to believe we’d ever loved each other when he was so indifferent to me.”

Yeah that’s what DIVORCE does to relationships.

But the thing I still don’t understand is why Hades is not killing Maddox. Like he was this powerful guy and now his reasoning for not killing Maddox makes no sense. Basically if he misses while trying to get a shot, Maddox will go and kill Sofia and I understand that. The thing I DONT understand is WHY WOULD HE MISS HE LITERALLY STANDS RIGHT NEXT TO MADDOX DURING HIS WORK HE ONCE WAS A VERY POWERFUL MAN WITH HIS OWN RESOURCES SO WHYYYYYYYY.
He isn’t even letting Damien kill Maddox and is waiting for someone else to do the job. Okay.

Anyway we finally have Sofia confronting Hades about his behavior and I LOVE THE ANSWER HADES GIVES HER

Sofia: “Then why are you so cold?”
Hades “Because we aren’t together anymore. This is how I treat everybody else.”
Sofia”Well, I don’t like it.”
Hades: “Then you shouldn’t have left me.”
Sofia: “You have no idea how hard this has been for me. You have no idea how much I’ve missed you. You have no idea how much I hurt every day that you’re gone.”
Hades: “Then you could’ve stayed.”
Sofia: “You know I couldn’t…”
Hades: “That was your decision, and I respect it. You were doing the right thing for you and Andrew, and I get it. But let’s not forget that you abandoned me to the hellhole where I live. You get to start over with a new life. I don’t. You were a prisoner to Maddox…and now I’ve become his captive.”

Exactly what Sofia deserves. She is such a selfish character omg am I the only one who feels this way?

See now I understand why Hades has resentment towards Sofia but then when I read this

When Maddox took her and all hope was lost, I sacrificed myself in exchange for her freedom. I threw myself on the grenade so she could get away.
But she abandoned me.
I would’ve judged her if she stayed. In fact, I respected her for choosing herself and our son over me. But the darker side of me couldn’t stop hating her for it. I’d sacrificed so much for this relationship, and it made no difference in the end.”

I’m like WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING
IS THIS CONFUSING OR AM I JUST DUMB FOR NOT UNDERSTANDING IDK. Like you are angry with her for leaving but would have judged her if she stayed... what. My brain cells.

Okay so I know I’m supposed to brief up my review but I’m here giving you the LIVE experience of everything I’m reading okay? 😂😂

So now after Sofia confronted him, says pass by and obviously Sofia being selfish wants to be more selfish and calls Hades screaming

“I told you to kill him, and you refused. If you aren’t going to do anything about it, then I have to move on. Don’t you dare judge me for what I did. If I’d never married you in the first place, I never would’ve been raped. You were supposed to protect me, but being with you has caused me more harm than if I were alone. I don’t regret being with you because I loved you, but I can’t be stupid and expect a future to be any different from the past. I have a son to think about now. And what kind of mother would I be if I didn’t give him the life he deserves?”

Okay yeah blame him for the rape as if he called Maddox and was like “hey you kidnapped my wife might as well get some action with her”
🙄🙄🙄
But I do agree with her with the killing Maddox part, I still don’t understand why Hades wouldn’t kill him.
The rest is her just being SEEELLLFFFFIIISSH. Like what did you expect when you were getting in a relationship with the mob or drug dealer? Everything would be happiness and sunshine? NO.

“So, don’t paint me out to be a heartless bitch that turned her back on you.”

Sofia you are. He doesn’t need to do anything.

So anyway they go back and forth again and Sofia kisses him and they have sex. But then Hades leaves the next morning because approximately it was a mistake. Now see the women you loved just fucked you she said she loves you and wants you to stay. So what else do you want Hades

THESE PEOPLE ARE CONFUSING ME. I AM GOING TO SKIP CHAPTERS NOW AND END THIS REVIEW

This is the fourth book in the series but it also leads into the next series of books about his business partner and sort of friend.
This felt a bit to me like wash, rinse, repeat.
Really boring and predictable.
I think it's very expensive for a four book series and I'm not sure that the plot contained enough to stretch it across four books.
They are separated when the book starts and then divorced.
The Hero's attitude is infuriating.
He keeps on she left him and even knowing why and the horrendous circumstances, keeps blaming her.
To me he behaved like a child and never really saw her POV, from the start to now.
I wished she'd gone and had a HEA with someone else.

During the separation, while divorced.
There are few details, bit of flirting but the Hero is vague over sex with others by the quotes below from the book.
The heroine isn't. Though he thinks she is at times and she openly flirts and feeds his impression, playing games to get him back.
She knew I’d been out with other women, but she still didn’t give up on me.

A more beautiful woman hadn’t been anywhere near me since she left. They were trolls compared to her. And when I thought about them, I was filled with disgust and guilt. I felt like I’d cheated on my wife after the fact, even though she wasn’t my wife at the time. I still felt dirty…like I’d done something wrong.
The guilt overwhelmed me so much that I avoided her gaze.

“I’m sorry I…stopped being totally faithful to you.” My gaze dropped because I was too much of a coward to meet her look. “I don’t feel good about what I did. I’m sorry that I hurt you.” I’d celebrated my freedom at the time, but I didn’t get much pleasure out of it. I’d stopped loving her and I’d tried to jump back into my bachelor life, but once these feelings started again, I realized that wasn’t me. Whether I loved her or not, she meant the world to me. I was glad I’d never actually had sex with any other women.

Out of all her series this was my least favorite. She annihilated Hades' character and made him an annoying ass. He went from a powerful man to just a stupid man with money. He literally became spineless.

Disappointing end to a wonderful series

What happened to Hades?! He dug up all the past hurts that he and Sophia had worked through and used it like an armor. In what world would a half decent man expect a woman that he calls his soulmate, whether pregnant or not, to remain in close proximity of her rapist solely because it brought him-Hades- comfort that they were suffering together. He actually resented her leaving and thought he got the shorter end of the deal. At that point, his history should have kicked in- did he not want more for his child than he had growing up??

Weak , weak, weak.

I detest the antiquated storylines where a man cannot keep it in his pants but freaks out when his woman even hints at moving on. Why do authors continue to write like it is 1980? She spends most of this book begging this numbnut to take her back. For being raped?

He then made a choice to free himself which he knew would theoretically mean condemning her to fate where she loves but is not loved. I would have more respect if he asked for both of them to be freed but he only asked for himself . That is cruelty.

I DNF'd this one. First of all, I oppose the use of rape as a plot device. Also, if you're going to include rape, don't gloss over it. After what happened to her because of her marriage to Hades, I can't imagine why Sofia would want to get back together with him.

This was so pathetic to read. Hades spent the whole book whining about literally everything that happened to him, like oh why me why me like I deserve this but at the same time I don't deserve this at all, yeah my wife got raped but i need her to stay with me & her rapist so I can have the emotional support...like bruh get a grip. All he did was complain the whole book and rage at Sofia for removing herself and her son from a dangerous situation. 0/5 stars

I was reading the series with only mild, detached interest - till I got to this book. This was very well done and on par with other angsty/heart wrenching romances I’ve read and enjoyed in the past. The hero and heroine separate and what a terribly emotional parting it is. There’s nothing more tragic than two people who truly love each other but are forced apart by circumstances beyond their control. I also enjoyed reading about how they got back together. A very satisfying conclusion to a not so satisfying series.

I would’ve judged her if she stayed. In fact, I respected her for choosing herself and our son over me.

Bruh make up your damn mind. Do you want her to stay or not?

This book is full of unnecessary angst. Not the one where you understand exactly why they can’t be together and sympathize with them. But the emo kind where it’s like “oh I want to be with you but I can’t but I love you so much ugh I hate the world” like??? You both know exactly what to do to be together but are too afraid to do it. And then you blame everyone else for that. Literally the only ones who keep them apart are themselves.

I do understand how Hades couldn’t kill Maddox when they were surrounded by his men, maybe he’s afraid his men would instantly kill him if he kills Maddox. But what I don’t understand is, he has so much time being alone with Maddox. He could easily kill him with no one stopping him? Like for example, when Hades choked Maddox, man just do it already. Maddox didn’t even give a fight. And what’s more ridiculous is when Damien walked inside and tried to stop Hades. What the fuck? Isn’t killing Maddox like your whole goal? And now you’re not helping Hades to kill him but instead stopped him? smh

I really hate when authors change plots easily just because it’s convenience for them. Hades is supposed to be this dangerous big bad man that everyone is scared of who doesn’t even think twice before killing someone (remember how in book one he literally kicked a man out a window from the top floor or something?) and now he’s full of doubt and just submitted to Maddox. I remember from the Banker series from this same author when Cato is supposed to be unattainable and it’s hard to kill him but then in book three it was so easy for the enemy to kidnap and torture him. The enemy could’ve easily kidnap him from the start then. Just doesn’t make sense.

Man, this book is just all over the place. From all of her other books, not once did I ever read where the hero didn't pick up girls right after the couple "broke up". The hero always goes angsty and brooding and claiming that he was hurting so much because he loves the heroine, yet replaced her as soon as they separated. It's always the heroine that did all the effort to get back together. There’s nothing that triggers me more than a woman who has to beg a manwhore for a scrap of affection.

Ughh...

My heart,my soul..

It feels fulfilled as if I were starved for days. This story.. Oh my God!

Hades and Sofia finally finally got their HEA..

But boy... Was this a ride.
It was NOT easy getting here I cried the entire book.

Ever since this outbreak with its quarantine days and lockdowns, I have had zero reading time. Weird, right. I read all the time and now that the time is here to literally do nothing but read,I haven't gotten the chance.
But God bless Penelope Sky for she decided to release this story early and when I got my ARC today,my heart damn near stopped.

This story was exhausting, draining, stressful and it made me so so sad but I loved it.

Sofia was... I don't think I can ever stan any other heroine with the intensity that I do Sofia because my oh my.. She was..

I am so happy and so sad too because that epilogue was oh so gut wrenching.

Bless the day I picked this series up and decided to give this author a chance.. She gave me everything I wanted all the while crushing, stabbing and trampling on my heart.

"My heart started to race when I heard him say my name. It immediately made me weak, made my ovaries come to life. I wanted to love this man. I wanted to make so many babies with him."

From the very first book, my attention was apt while reading the 1st couple of the series. I sometimes rush through a book if it’s too big or boring- this whole series of Hades and Sofia consisted of more than 800 pages but I read everything, I never skipped pages or anything. It was so beautiful to read this book, it is truly magical to read this.

The ending was so damn perfect. I generally don’t feel content while reading epilogues but this one hit the benchmark real good. The whole play of emotions was tremendous.

From the part where Sofia had enough of this and wanted to protect her family to doing everything she could to win her husband back- it was really magical to read. The thing on how the author managed to make both Hades and Sofia correct their respective positions and how they took decisions which nevertheless hurt'ed their spouses but they were right on their part. Sofia had to do what she did but at the same time Hades was abandoned- nothing was right but eventually it all played out well.

Throughout the series, you should not be bored but enjoy the play with emotions running through you with the change in story-line.

Would highly recommend reading this series.

Wow...just wow...you had me up and down...I was upset because I didn't see anything wrong that Sofia left Hades she was thinking like a mother..I cant see half way through the whole book why he didnt understand that..you cant ask a woman to be buddy with her rapist.

Thank you..Penelope for having Sofia kill Maddux..I believed justice was served on her part...once again loved the outcome....she had to work at it.

I like the twist in the end hades became Sofia now it was sofia turn...to do hurtles to have him love her again..classic ..

So far...this series was a bunch of twist and turns...and I see you added a little of homosexuality in..it...love it.....I mean love it...At first I thought he was a long lost brother or something and wanted to be like him...wait until you read readers😮😮😮

I found that you twisted and this time the woman had to do the chasing and all the work to prove her love..instead of the man...i get it..and like it.. face it ladies men have feelings too...and we do take them for granted and I believe that is how hades felt..so I kind of understood his point as well.

Penelope you haven't disappointed yet...now I'm off to read First..with another alpha male..Damien...yummy..

Keep it coming!!!

Regardless Hades had to go through every type of fortune/outcome that the Gypsy provided him. What happened to Maddox was also a bit ridiculous. What happened after Maddox was even more ridiculous. Hades, wtf?

It wasn’t all terrible. I actually enjoyed the story but felt like we could’ve narrowed it (& edited) down to two books.

So this was the last book in the Betrothed Series by Penelope Sky and my very first read by her.
To be honest I was hooked from the beginning, Hades and Sofia were both complicated characters, but the chemistry between them was amazing. However, this book was kinda confusing.

image: description

It was really understandable the way Hades felt towards Sofia, I mean he did a lot for her but the minute things get rough she’s out of the door. It was selfish in a way but then when you see it in her perspective, it feels the right thing. She was pregnant and she was kidnapped and raped because of Hades.
He was a drug dealer so he had enemies, Maddox was the worst. What infuriated me was the fact that Hades always said that he was invincible, that he was the strongest and the most feared criminal of all. But then Maddox is in the picture and the next thing you know Hades is his little muppet. Like what the hell happened the strongest man?? Emm okay.

image: description

So now that Sofia left Hades to protect her baby, she is selfish and unfaithful, and Hades is the brokenhearted man who sacrificed his life and freedom to save the woman he loved.

image: description

It was rinse and repeat. Literally. Hades blaming Sofia and Sofia blaming Hades, but what they really needed to do was to understand each other.
It turned out Maddox was gay and all what he wanted to do was get Sofia out of the picture to have Hades for himself.

image: description

Hades was a coward to me like okay I get it, Maddox threatened to hurt Sofia and his baby if he ever tried to kill him and failed. IF HE FAILED. Hades had countless opportunities to kill Maddox but HE DIDN’T. Like what the hell? But fortunately Sofia was brave enough to do it, but when it happened it was dull. Like you’ve been wanted to be free from Maddox and when it happens you have no reaction?

image: description

Hades is a very complicated character. As much as I liked him I hated him equally. He was too proud and stubborn, and the way he treated Damien was so fucking bad. The only reason Sofia was kidnapped was because of HIM but he kept blaming Damien.

I don’t know what to say, I mean I really loved this series but it would’ve been better if there were only two books, because the rest was nonsense.

As with all the author's books, it's super sexy, the heroes are hot and alpha in all ways, and it's a rollercoaster of twists and turns!
I loved Hades and Sofia's romance, how up and down it was and the villain is def a weirdo. Sofia is no damsel in distress but kicks butt and is a worthy match for someone like Hades.
Tropes: mafia, enemies to lovers, second chances, surprise baby, he falls first, cliffhanger in each book leading to the next, lots of spice.
Triggers: violence, mention of human trafficking/sex workers, rape survivor.

Giving this book 3 stars feels like cheating because it surely deserves less. It's a really, really, REALLY bad book. The author ruined absolutely every good asset the series used to have.
The last pages caused a distaste for me
Nothing made sense AT ALL. Hades was so stupid and childish.
The plot made me laugh many times because of holes it had. My goodness it was such a non sense.

KU. Contemporary Romance. Tropes: Crime/Mafia, Foreign Country, Divorce, Pregnancy, Knight in Shining Armour (woman kicks ass), Erotica, Family/Friends.
MC's h Sofia Lombardi & H Hades Lombardi (Baby Andrew)
Other Characters: (baby Andrew, Sofia and Hades son),Sofia's mother, Ash Lombardi (Hades older brother), Damien (Hades busines partner and ex bestfriend), Maddox new business partner and psycho, man who raped Sofia repeatedly for a month, Gypsy (Morocca).
Sofia asks Hades to kill Maddox but Maddox is tricky and holds the life of Sofia and baby Andrew in his hands. Hades doen't want to risk their lives, so he works with Maddox to protect his family. He is in hell. Sofia leaves him and moves to Rome and works at another of her families hotels. They get a divorce. They reunite a couple of times but Hades has to sever their ties to protect Andrew and Sofia's lives. Sofia is tired of this crap and decides to take out Maddox herself, with the advice from Ash, Hades brother. She lures him out of the woodwork by going to Florence. She shoots him in the gut twice and shoots him in the face killing him. She calls Hades expecting a reunion of their family. He tells her he no longer loves her. (He went back to the gypsy before Sofia killed Maddox in cold blood and asked if she could help him un love his wife. She did as he asked.) Ash and Damien are assisting Sofia in re attracting Hades.

what in the heck did I just waste my time on

Sofia and Hades’ story is one I hope to soon forget because that ending was complete crap. A better ending would have been when Hades starts to fall in love with Sofia again, she gets into a car accident caused by some dude with a vendetta resulting in a mini coma that makes him choke on his rejection and pity party.

Also did he sleep with other women or not? There was a point in which he said he was glad he never slept with any other women but it sure as heck did not seem like it in other parts near the end. Either way Hades is kind of trash. Sofia should’ve held back on the “I love you” until he said it first. Because let’s not forget that while Hades declared his love, he never actually said it out loud to Sofia until she said it first. The fact that the author made Sofia say it over and over again just to “gain his trust” again was pretty gross.

In the end, Penelope Sky relegated her “strong” characters into sniveling, scared little mice. Hard to find sympathy for Hades when all he did was submit to another man and cry “abandonment!” when his pregnant wife is literally just doing what’s best to save her and her unborn child’s life.

This is the story of Hades and Sofia. I’m in love with Hades but Sofia!? I love her MORE- she’s a goal getter, strong independent woman I always look for a book character, she’s a queen, she’s a girl boss. Since book 1, I’m obsessed with her. Bow down.

The long awaited ending of Hades and Sofia’s story is here and better than I ever could have anticipated. Sofia was left with an impossible choice, either leave her husband, the man she loves, to raise her son in a safe home or gave her rapist on a regular basis. Neither one of them were great options but from the moment she was pregnant she knew she had to do what was best for Andrew no matter the cost.

Hades is heartbroken and depressed being left to be a slave to the man that raped his wife for months but he’s doing it to keep Sofia and Andrew safe and that is worth all the sacrifices he’s making.

Their story has been so difficult from the very beginning. It’s been a journey full up and downs and these two have faced more heartbreak than they ever should have had to face. Their love is strong, but is it strong enough to survive all that life has thrown at them? You’ll find out in this epic page turner that I can’t speak highly enough of!

Committed was a wonderfully emotional ending to Sofia and Hades story.
From Sofia leaving to save herself and unborn son from Maddox to giving birth to Alexander and trying to win Hades love again. We find that this woman is amazingly strong and so loving and forgiving, that we just want to see her have all the happiness she deserves.
Hades has lived with the threat of his fortune over his head for so long, you have to wonder if its really true or does he make it true. Always second guessing things Hades tries everything to make his life work out but with his wife and son in harms way by Maddox he lets go and gives up. But once he does everything he’s ever wanted comes his way because the woman who has always loved him risks everything for them all.
Sofia and Hades story will leave you crying and emotional til the very end. Theirs is a true love story.

This book is phenomenal. I would give it more than five stars if I could. This series has had me tied in knots from the beginning. The twists and turns, secrets, betrayals, love, sacrifices and more all to keep the ones you love safe. What would you do to keep you, your spouse or child safe? What about your money? Will you do anything to keep it? Are you sure you know yourself and your spouse that well? This is what the characters are faced with. How much can love conquer? This is what you will find out in Sofia and Hades story. A love story of epic portions that is not all sweet and roses. It is heart wrenching, soul searching by each character. Their journey will have you on a roller coaster ride of intense emotions and yet you can't stop reading. You have to know the outcome. You will need tissues and a drink as you read.

It feels too bittersweet. It’s great to see the final conclusion to Hades and Sofia’s story, yet I know im gonna miss them the most.

In this book, there is a lot of pain and angst almost to the end, yet everything is worth to see them finally happy and together, without no one to break them apart.

I truly enjoyed to see a switch on the dynamics these characters had, to experience how madly in love she could be and how he didn’t care at all. Slowly, she lures him to get her husband back, proving how much love these two have.

Honestly this series is unique on its way because it has different tropes going on during each installment, it’s fast paced, plot filled and has all the hot scenes we all crave.
