Wow not the ending I was expecting😮😲

Throughout the entire last chapter of this book I was waiting for Liam to ambush Damien, and beat him to a pulp, because the light bulb finally went on. Nothing! I was waiting for Annabella, to go home and find Liam, dead from a self inflected wound, after she left him. Nothing! I was waiting for Liam to get Damien in the ring and best him senseless. Nothing. But this ending I was not expecting. Will he go through with his threat? Will Damien survive or sustain such major damage that he'll be left disabled?! Damien is so sweet and kind hearted. I really wanted him and Annabella, to end up in happily ever after bliss. Hades, throughout the book was simply amazing. You just gotta love him. I cracked up laughing when they were trying to come up with ways to to get Liam, bout of Annabelle's life. And he said to Damien, "let's kill him", just simply as that. That was so funny the way he just come right out with it😁❤️. Gotta love him. He's forever Damien's ride or die guy.💯💕🔥🔥🔥. Poor Liam was totally clueless up until the very end. I feel bad for him. But he was stupid. He had her for a second time and lost her again because he did the same crap. Looking forward to the continuing saga in this series. It was nice to meet up with Bones and Conway again. I miss them. I don't like Bosco's, identical twin Heath, at all. He's a total jerk. I don't know if I want to read his story next. It's going to be really hard to see him in a different light. I hate the way he treats Damien. The way he threatens, Damien's father to get him(Damien) to do whatever he wants. I sure hope that he doesn't ends up with Damien's sister Catalina. Wouldn't that be something?!😲😮

I hate Annabella. That is all.

Actually, no. That is not all. As with all of PS books it's supposed to take place in Europe and yet it's written in such an American voice that it would make sense to just do an alt+f and change every place it reads "Florence" and replace it with "Cincinnati" or any other mundane American city. The characters all eat cereal, burgers, soup and sandwiches, bacon and eggs, chicken parmesan, "noodles" ... the list goes on and on and it reads like a generic American diner menu. They use distinctly American English words like "ornery." Their names are rarely Italian, instead the character names appear to be pulled from an elementary class list in Utah. WHY bother to set these books in Italy and then build a world that absolutely does not read as Italy? I've never even been to Italy and yet with a few Google searches I could find some details to at least make it seem more realistic.

At the end of the first book we had to watch Anna marry her ex husband again – truly believing that he was the right choice for her at this point in time since a future with Damian was off the table and Liam seemed to truly regret and repent for what he did. This of course crushes Damian and we have to wonder what that will mean for the rest of this book.

Throughout this second installment of their story although the sixth of the larger series, we watch Damian try to move on with his life as best he can although that doesn’t mean that he’s really interested in moving on with another woman. Can’t stomach the idea. When one is put in front of him, he uses the situation for what it is, but hates that any time he crosses paths with Anna, it turns to a jealousy thing. He truly wants to find a way to be around her knowing that he walked away from her to protect her. The threat that his lifestyle proved to all of those that were close to him was too much for him to risk, even if it sacrificed his own happiness.

We watch Anna try to be happy – to be the wife and partner that she should be with Liam. She truly believes in the vows of marriage and will do anything to make it work, even though she’s admitted that she’s not over Damian. Liam is willing to take all the time that’s needed in order to get her to love him the way that she used to, but i think that as readers we all know that it’s never going to happen. He promised to give up death fighting to be with her and that’s something that we know will come back to bite him. curious to see if Damian is his opponent.

It’s a rollercoaster of emotions that we go through in this story. Watching Anna and Damian try to figure out how to be friends since they are in the same circle. Watching them both clearly love each other but never admit it out loud or even to themselves. We watch Anna move on with her life and then at the same time we watch Damian go through the motions.

If romance and love wasn’t enough, we also have the Skull King as a pain in our butt through out the story as well. Heath continues to be a thorn in their side and since we all know that he’s a loose cannon even outside of these guys, it’ll be a huge question of when he’ll go off the rails and what that will mean. Damian is adamant about killing Heath but doesn’t have the right plan yet since his only option isn’t in the game before. (you guys will all remember a man named Bones right?)

So….we are left at the end of this story on so many open paths. what’s going to happen with Anna and Liam since there’s definitely no way that he’ll keep up his end of the bargain. At the same time, we also have to wonder what’s going to happen to Damian since we know that he’s a masochist but this is taking things a bit far for even him. And then there’s Heath – what will happen there. Only way to find out is to read on to book 7 now – which i’m going to try to do

A hard but immersive read…

I swear these two are going to be the death of me…

Let’s get this straight… just like Sofia and Hades in the first four books of this series, Damien and Annabella belong with each other. There’s something about their relationship that is so special and inherently right… but the fates are most definitely not on their side.

The shock ending of ‘First’ left all of us somewhat aghast. Poor Damien was only trying to protect Annabella but by pushing her away to save her from becoming a target, he placed her right back in the arms of her ex-husband. And of course, that last chapter sealed the deal when Annabella and Liam remarried… breaking Damien’s heart.

The reason I’ve said that this is a hard read is because our two main characters are not together… even though they should be. We have to stand by and watch Damien struggle to move on, whilst Annabella attempts to play happy families with a man who she still doesn’t trust or love with all her heart.

She still loves Damien but took the safe option. And to be honest, I do feel sorry for Liam (a little). He’s battling against an invisible man who he knows still has a hold on his wife’s heart. She’s painfully honest with him, but his deep love for Anna makes him blind to the truth that his wife’s belongs to another.

I’m still not entirely sure how Liam misses all the cues and hints as to who Anna’s secret man is. I mean, is he blind or stupid? One too many hits to the head in the boxing ring maybe?

What really hits me is how insanely beautiful Damien is in this book. Despite how he feels about Annabella himself, he continually tries to make Annabella happy by keeping Liam out of trouble. He practically sabotages his own happiness so that she can have hers. It’s so heartwarming but heartbreaking at the same time.

When he’s with that awful supermodel, I almost couldn’t read it. Thank goodness it didn’t go into much detail about their relationship because I really didn’t like her. She didn’t deserve Damien the way Annabella does.

As for Hades… well, now he’s stopped being a grudge bearing idiot, I love him again. Love the banter between him and Damien and his playful side has made a welcome return.

So, where does this go? The prelude to the next book says that he gets his girls back… but after everything she’s been through, will she ever trust anyone with her heart again. I certainly hope so, because Damien deserves to be loved.

The story continues with Damien and Annabella! Damien met the perfect women, Annabella. But big issues ensue when Heath, one of the Skull Kings, continues to show up places he is not permitted, to continue harassing and threatening Damien with harming all his loved ones if he does not pay for his services. Damien did whatever he could to protect her and his family from Heath. He broke her heart thinking he is keeping her safe. Of course, Damien decided on his own that Annabella needs to be protected and things go downhill from there.
They are not together because of his hasty decision to keep her at a distance to keep her safe. He broke her heart and she retaliated by going back to the one she knew loved her so she would not be alone. The man she absolutely loved has rejected her and she is still in love with him.
Even though they are not together because she remarried her ex-husband; Hades and Sofia continue to be friends to be both plus Annabella continues to work with Sofia at the hotel. Therefore, Damien and Annabella continue to part of each other’s lives as difficult as that is.
Damien and his sister protect their father by moving him from his house Reading this book with show you what they did for him.
Many twists and turns with Annabella’s ex-husband and his fidelity to her, he insists that he gets what he wants going back to fighting and death fighting. Annabella asked him not to because that is a deal breaker for her.
Damien finally comes clean with her and tells her why he broke it off with her and why he told her he did not love her.
Damien continues to be Annabella’s friend and is there for her when anything happens, and he feels she needs someone to support her.
Read this book to see what Damien does and why. Will Annabella’s husband continue to stay true to his word and stay monogamous? Will Damien and Annabella get back together or does she stays with her husband. Read this next amazing book from Penelope Sky and see how she intertwines so many characters from all her past books ! I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

Penelope Sky delivers another intense and emotionally charged story with Second. A slow-burn romance filled with heartbreak, jealousy, and the heavy weight of choices made too late.
Damien is the kind of man who keeps his heart locked behind walls, not because he doesn’t care, but because he cares too much. After witnessing the devastation his best friend suffered when love became a weapon used by enemies, Damien vows not to let Annabella become collateral damage. So, he does the only thing he believes will protect her…he lets her go.
But letting go doesn’t mean forgetting. Annabella, shattered by the breakup, finds herself pursued by Liam, her ex-husband, a man with charm, a smooth tongue, and a past full of broken promises. Desperate to heal, she gives him a second chance. And that’s when Damien realizes he made the biggest mistake of his life. Is it too late? Annabella isn’t a prize to be won on a whim. She’s heartbroken, wary, and determined to protect the man she truly loves, even if it means marrying the wrong one.
Watching Damien grapple with his choices while Liam fumbles his way through commitment is both infuriating and gripping. Honestly, I kept waiting for the lightbulbs to go off in Liam’s head, but let’s just say, he’s not the brightest chocolate in the box. And when the truth finally hits him, the fallout is inevitable. The tension is masterfully drawn out by Sky’s storytelling. Damien’s restraint, Annabella’s resilience, and Liam’s delusions keep the pages turning. At times, I wanted to shake Damien and scream, “Wake up!” but that’s part of the magic Penelope Sky weaves. She makes us feel every ache, every misstep, and every desperate heartbeat. This book is for the reader who craves emotional depth, slow-burning romance, and the kind of tension that makes you yell at the characters like they’re real people. Second leaves you breathless, torn between hope and heartbreak, and desperate for the next book. Bring it on.

Every time you think Penelope Sky has out done herself, she proves you wrong. This writer has such an amazing and talented way of giving you a story that keeps you on your toes and leaves you wanting and needing so much more from the characters. In Second she totally gives us this with another cliff hanger that you feel in your soul.
After Damien lets Annabella go she returns to her ex-husband and gets married again, but she still loves him and he will always hold her heart. or will he? Even though she loves her husband, Liam, will he be able to break the ties that she has to the other man in her heart?
Damien really is a wonderful man even if he's a money laundering, drug lord. This is a man who knows he can't have a woman who his whole soul craves but he does everything he can to make her happy even if its saving her husband from making mistakes that will destroy their marriage. He tries to keep his distance but he can't and the fates throw them curve ball after curve ball only to be struck down when Liam finally goes to far and causes the destruction of their marriage again. Now when Damien knows he can finally have Annabella she needs distance to get herself together. He's a patient man but will he be able to wait for her? Oh yeah he has the patients and the determination to hold out, he will have the woman who holds his heart and soul, but at what cost?
There are so many what ifs in the end of this book, what if Liam finds out Damien was the man his wife loves and what if he goes back to fighting til the death, what if Annabella can't get over the heartbreak, and what if when Liam finds out who his wife's love is will he kill him or try?
Can't wait for the next book to find out all these what ifs and to see what Damien's sister's reading was....

Second was amazing! Right off in the beginning Annabelle and Sofia goes to lunch to meet Hades. Hades ends up bringing Damien so they have to see each other. Then baby Andrew has a allergic reaction to peanuts so Hades and Sofia leave Damien and Anna alone which is awkward. Then shortly later Liam has a match and ask Damien to look after Anna! One night at a party Damien finds Anna outside on the patio and decides to kiss her in which Anna pushed him away. Later Liam has another match and once it was over a death fighter tried pushing Liam into a death match. Which he was going to do until Damien called Anna. She flew up there in her car and stopped him. My most favorite part was when Liam and Anna were having sex and Anna moaned Damiens name! Then Liam madly left and screwed other women for 3 days. Once he came back her persuaded Anna to move to London, but once Damien found out he told Anna about Liams affairs and she confronted Liam and asked for a divorce. Damien finally told Annabelle he loved her. After the final match in the book Damien sits down beside Liam at the bar and he finally connects the pieces that Damien is who was sleeping with Anna. Loved it! Can't wait till Forever comes out to see what happens with Damien and Annabelle!

I was floored and shocked and gobsmacked by this book. I truly did not expect half the things I've read. I don't know why, but this one was a bit more difficult to finish than the others - maybe because I felt some things were redundant.
Let me just say that Liam is oblivious to anything happening around him and that I was half expecting him to be faking his stupidity. In my mind, he was aware of the identity of Anna's lover and just didn't want to talk about it. I don't know, I was just thinking he was so in love with her he would have accepted anything.

I am starting the 7th book right away, primarly because I want to know what's going to happen with Liam. He had an erratic and peculiar behavior and I want to know if we will get to see more of his psychological downfall. I don't feel sad for him, but I just don't understand him.

What I like the most about Damien & Annabella's story is the fact that we are aware that the FMC was already deeply in love before meeting the MMC. She already had her first love and even though he broke her, she still respected him. I just like the fact she is not the deeply shy and timid virgin waiting for the alpha male to change her and to make her understand love and sexual pleasure. Overall, I would give the book ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5.

Annabella and Damien are back and get ready for a wild, crazy ride! Annabella just got remarried to her ex-husband Liam, she’s still broken hearted over Damien, and while she questions if she’s making the right decision she knows she needs to do her best to move on and try to put Damien behind her. Liam was full of promises when trying to win back Annabella, but what happens when it gets starts to become difficult to keep those promises.

Damien knows it will be difficult to move forward without Annabella in his life. He still feels this strong pull towards her, that he knows may very well never go away but he too needs to do his best to move forward considering Annabella isn’t his to take care of anymore no matter how much he may want to!

Second is a rollercoaster of emotions! You’ll be taking the ride with these two, their chemistry is still explosive! Their love is most definitely still there and yet there’re both trying to do what they think is best. But is it really for the best staying apart when they still take each others breath away?

Wow that ending!!! Wasn't expecting that. I do know that Annabelle is feeling right now like that old saying. "It was a mistake, you said. But the cruel thing was, it felt like the mistake was mine, for trusting you. I mean she wasn't perfect but she did valued her wedding vows and was giving her all to make her marriage work. The heartbreak in the book was so intense it give me all the feels. I do really hope that Damien and Annabelle get there HEA though it all Damien was patient, loving and Annabelle rock even though his heart was breaking he loved her enough to be a true dependable and honest friend. I can't wait to see what in store for the next book in the series. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received and the opinions I have expressed are my own.

The second book in Damien’s story does not disappoint! Penelope Sky has given us another nail biter. I can’t believe Damien would let her go back to Liam and marry him! That was so crazy and disappointing. Ana Ella was so willing to fall back into what was comfortable that she didn’t give life a chance. Is Damien bound to the fate of the fortune teller as Hades seemed to be? Damien realized his feelings for Anabella after she was remarried to her exhusband. Too bad for him it’s too late and she won’t break her vows. The fortune seems to be true. He loves her and she will never go back to him! Hades is willing to help him do whatever it takes to get her back and stand in his corner even though it means going up against Liam. Now that Liam has put two and two together, and has ruined his 2nd and 3rd chances w Ana, what will he do to Damien? I can’t wait to see what happens next!!

After reading book 5, it took me awhile to start this book because I was just so shocked with how that book ended. This book was very different from the other books, but in such a good way! It's not until the end of the book that I realized that the slow burn was real! The unfolding of this book was excellent because you think that you can guess what will happen, but it does not happen occur in the sequence you think. The character development is so heartwarming; this book really does let the reader into the emotions of Damien. The strength and loyalty and true confidence that Anabella displays is so commendable. I feel that she is such a relatable character and it's hard to choose between her side and Damien's. Book 5 had all the drama and romance, this book 6 has the slow burn build up and longing between these two protagonists. It is set up so well that it's a wonder what the next book will hold!

“She craved peace, simplicity. When she wanted a man, money and power weren’t important to her. It was the soul that mattered.”

Damien and Annabella’s plot is frustrating for their second book. For readers who have a strong trigger for emotional adultery, this may not be a book for you. While Annabella is NOT unfaithful to her husband, Liam, she’s emotionally vacant to him and hung up on Damien. But with how the previous book ended her hang up makes sense. I just wish as a heroine, Annabella, would stay true to herself and not be filled with self-doubt.

I am excited to finish Damien and Annabella’s trilogy in Lover. I love the characters involved Liam, Heath the Skull King, and Damien’s sister, Catalina. I expect a lot to unravel in Lover.

Also my heart is so happy to see other characters from different Penelope Sky series like the Barsettis and the OG Skull King, Balto.

Make sure you have a few hours without anything that needs to be done because once you start this book you will not be able to put it down!! Between the marriage of Annabella and Liam and the constant connection between Annabella and Damien the story has many twists and turns. Will Liam push it too far with the death fighting? Will Damien finally admit what it is his heart? Or will Damien's fortune be the end of any happiness in his life? I have loved Damien from the first time he was mentioned in the series and although I could not wait to read his story, I found myself not wanting to be part of his demise. With fabulous characters and a heart stopping story, once again Penelope Sky takes the reader on a wild ride.

Wow! This is the sixth book in the Betrothed series. It is never a dull moment! You are sucked in from the start. This book is fantastic. It will take you on a roller coaster of emotions. You will want to laugh, cry, be angry, hot and bothered, happy, etc. At times you will want to throw your kindle at what the characters are doing. Every minute is worth it though. It is a must read just as the series is! In this book we are reading about Annabella and her ex/ now again husband Liam and her ex lover Damien. We also have Heath who heads up the Skull Kings and a cameo of Bones. It will keep you on edge and you will not want to put it down because you just have to know what is next with these three. Having said that I can not wait for the next book!!!!

Ah-ma-zing! Penelope Sky does it again.

Damien told Annabella there was nothing more between them and let her go to protect her. Truth is, there is still a whole lot of chemistry between them. Annabella went back to Liam to try again with their marriage. The feelings she has for Damien still run deeply, those feelings won't go away if they still see each other.

I am loving this story, this whole series in fact. Damien and Annabella are fire. Hades once again has got Damien's back and is loyal to their friendship. Sofia is the voice of reason, as always. Cameos from Conway, Sapphire and Bones (Griffin). Liam seems to have lost a few brain cells in those fights, takes him a while to put two and two together.

Bring on Forever and every other book to come in this Betrothed series.

back to the cliffhangers

Here we are again…. Except with Anna and Damien’s cliff hanger love story. The anguish and heartbreak is brutal in this book(6) …. I will say Anna pisses me off because I would have caved months ago. But her loyalty and pride were so misplaced it took till the end of the book for her to wake up. Too late. And then she just shuns everyone and is like you know what eff this I’m out. Which honestly I don’t blame her. But still…… it’s like a real life strife. lol when I’m here for a book with results this is Not the story for you. Because you will receive zero results. Just leading you on and on and on…..

So book 7. I suppose. (I hated the characters with other people. Legit gave me the ICK I was sooooo bleh) so the spice was a Negative seven.

Some men are slooow on the uptake!

Can't for the life of me understand what Annabella ever saw in Liam, apart from anything else he's none too bright. Too many punches to the noggin! So Damien goes back to Marrakech 'cos he couldn't remember the details of his prediction. Does it help or hinder? Suffice to say he confesses his new found clarity re his feelings for A. Doesn't have quite the desired effect - shocker...

Damien has acquired not one but two murderous enemies; it could be a photo finish to see which one gets to him first. When one is the Skull King & the other is a seriously unhinged Death Match fighter, it does leave the impression that Damien's shelf life is severely compromised.
