Why read this book:
1) To validate and feel better about yourself for liking a good crime fiction novel (in antiquity, “mystery”.
2) To compile a list of authors you may not have heard of but who are part of this club and so, might be good.
3) To acquire, in small doses, many variegated thoughts about the craft of writing mysteries from many different authors. Even if you have no ambition to write a mystery novel, there is great food for thought that should enhance your appreciation of your next guilty crime-fic pleasure.
4) To fall asleep
