Imagine following your bliss in a place that intrigues you, learning its geography by sleeping on its lumps and drinking from its rivers and creeks. Ned Rozell lives that experience. Here, he shares it with you.
If you like all things Alaska you would probably enjoy this compilation of articles from Alaska Magazine written by Ned Rozell. He walks, bikes, and drives across the state, making thoughtful observations about life up North as he goes. He writes of his beloved dog, his marriage, his hikes, his treks up mountain sides, wild life, the brutal cold, the pristine vistas. Includes photos.
He's a strong writer with a clean, entertaining style.
I'd been itching recently to get out of the city and back into nature, but haven't been able to yet. I think that is why I liked this book so much. The author describes his outdoor experiences in Alaska, which are many and quite impressive (at least to me). Each experience is its own chapter and is independent from the other experiences, which makes for nice reading on the train. Each experience is interesting and is told very well.
This is a collection of articles or essays on the beauty and treachery of the great state of Alaska. For those of us who will never experience it any closer than our books and televisions, this gives a little taste of what it is like. Descriptions of the scenery and the encounters with wildlife are vivid and I appreciated the historical bits, too.
