Gabby and the Cold Case Squad tackle their most personal case yet.

Evie Manson’s foster mom vanished six weeks ago on a trip to Pennsylvania. The mystery surrounding her disappearance haunts Evie. Was it a blind date gone bad? Is she injured somewhere all alone? Why hasn’t anyone heard from her since?

With not a clue in sight, Gabby and the Cold Case Squad travel to Shady Valley to investigate. When no one will answer their questions and hostility abounds around every corner, the crew determines something is definitely shady in the valley.

News of a dead body found in the local park intensifies the search for Evie’s missing mother. Just what is the town hiding? Is Evie’s foster mom even still alive? Gabby and her team need to catch a break before time runs out. But will obstacles at every turn stop them?

Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush
When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.

I have been hooked on this series ever since I read the first one. Christy Barritt's books just keep getting better, and they were already great. This is without a doubt my favorite mystery series. While this book can probably stand alone, I recommend reading the entire series. I love the way Gabby has grown and changed.

In Clean Break by Christy Barritt, she throws readers back into Gabby and Riley's world. Since Gabby was the first introduction I made to Barritt's writing, she holds a dear place in my heart. I was glad to catch up and see how they were doing. The mystery in Clean Break captured my attention and begged me to turn the pages to see where Alice disappeared to. I figured out who the villain was before Gabby did, which was a nice turn to the story. There was some romance, but really nothing to turn readers' nose up at. It has been coming for a while if readers are familiar with the Gabby stories. Not that it has anything to do with Gabby. She's happily married to Riley. Overall, Clean Break was a nice story filled with realistic dilemmas for a new family and the mystery nicely summed up by the end of the novel. I recommend this story for fans of Barritt's writing or fans of Gabby St. Clair. I mean Thomas.

A foster mother using a dating site, meets a guy in Pennsylvania. Evie tried to find answers, and now Gabby and her team have come . The town does not welcome stranger, how will they find answers. Even the arrogant police chief, no sign of foul play no investigation. Interesting twist to the story at the end. Good flowing series, and enjoyed al three in this set.

CLEAN BREAK might be book 15 in this series, but the books all stand-alone, the mysteries are solved in each book, but the main characters are consistent.

This book is set in a creepy little town in Pennsylvania that might give Fog Lake, Tennessee competition for creepiness. Women are being murdered by a serial killer, but the police claim they can find no leads--or are they too lazy to follow them?

Gabby and her team have little to go on, but they are determined, even if it means the bullies arrive enforce to run them out of town.

i had my guesses who-dun-it, but I was wrong. There were some unexpected twists. Another winner from prolific author Christy Barritt.

I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own.

Barritt knocks it outta the park once again! I love every series that she has written, but the Squeaky Clean series is my top fave! This installment has Gabby and her cold case cohorts Evie and Sherman traveling for a couple of days to work on a cold case. The case involves Evie’s foster mom who has gone missing 6 weeks prior. While investigating, they quickly discover that the town of Shady Valley, PA is very unwelcoming to strangers. While investigating the disappearance of Angela, there soon discover that more people have disappeared and died in the area. Can the cold case squad crack this case? Read this book and find out!

Gabby is the first Christy Barritt character that I got to know, about 5 or 6 years ago, and since then she has become my favorite character. So it was great fun to return to Gabby's world in this 15th installment of sleuthing with Gabby. She is older now, happily married, and still solving cases, albeit with a team of detectives, and with the support of Riley, not on her own. This time, the Cold Case Squad travel to Pennsylvania to find a missing person. Gabby's journey, her quirky friends, and her supportive husband, as well as another mystery, all add up to another fun read!

Christy writes another 5 star book. I honestly can’t see her ever writing one that’s not a 5 star. Gabby is a delightful character. This book to me was a little different from her other Squeaky Clean. It centered more on finding a friend and her mom who disappeared but we all know where Gabby is murder follows This book is no different, it will not disappoint. Grab a cup of coffee, sit down and enjoy your time with Gabby.

I haven't read all of the Squeaky clean books up to this book but I know that a really like the main character, Gabby. She started off as a crime scene "cleaner" and is now investigating crimes with her small team. Gabby is a fun, quirky character but gets the job done in this story. She helps her friend Evie find her missing foster mom. There is a lot of intertwining of incidents throughout the book that lead them to an amazing ending. Highly recommended this easy, fun read.

Better than Rizoli and Isles..

One more book to go and my pandemic binge reading of this series is done. Like coming to the end of a good tv season! Really good read and hard to put down. I love the musical references and get a kick out seeing a new one pop up! It is very refreshing to read about the journey of Gabby's faith. Nothing better than a great read and a good cup of coffee.

Review of this book.

The clues were so subtle that I dismissed a lot of them. I went off on a different direction. Fantastic job of great mystery writing. The author has definitely made great strides in her writing. The story pulls you in and keeps you going. You cannot put the book down because you have to find the answers. Her books are addictive. You just want to keep reading them. Her style is unique. It is clean, funny, and deadly serious all at the same time.

This is the best one of the cold cases so far

I like these as long as Riley is involved more. I was beginning to think that I wouldn't like it because he wasn't in it very much but thankfully she included him more. I love their marriage and how much they respect each other. Thanks for getting him more involved and keep writing more!!

Surprising

It’s been a long time since I’ve read about Gabby. I read the first squeaky clean book, but got caught up in other of Ms. Barritt’s books and forgot about Gabby. Gasp! I know! It looks like I’ve got a lot of catching up to do. Gabby has matured, but is still the quirky gal I learned to like before. This is an easy read and a real page-turner. Enjoy!

Gabby is as good as ever!

Christy has such a knowledge of Gabby and her personality gets ever deeper! Gabby is also approaching some major life changes and we are not told what all of them at going to be, or even now long these changes will take. I am glad Gabby and Riley are back!

Another great book by Christy Barritt!

This time the Cold Case Squad is tackling the disappearance of Evie's foster mom. Once again the story was excellent with lots of action. I love how the main characters are developing. The town they were visiting was sad in so many ways.

But I enjoyed this story so much and look forward to more from Gabby, Riley, and the rest of the gang!

Awe....

Another fantastic read! Enjoyed this whole series and I hope to read more by Ms. Barritt. This author adds excitement and thrills to the page at just the right times. I was able to figure it out just before the killer was revealed, but it was a tricky one. So off I go to the next series.

I had a BETA copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. I enjoyed the plot and the characters in this book. Christy does a great job with the story line and character development. It kept me guessing until near the end as to who the killer was.

Slow moving.

I felt this story took too long to tell. It was rather dull and I never really understood the relationship of the main characters. I found the ending boring. I guess this is just not my kind of mystery.
