It’s clear the kind of persona Leduc is aiming for. A take-no-nonsense woman, prepared to do whatever it takes, and unconcerned about whose toes she might stomp on in the process. But it needs more finesse and balance; there’s nothing, for instance, to explain her dedicated squad, who leap to her every need. Why do they have such loyalty to her? ‘Cos she’s hot? Might as well be.

This was a pretty short and entertaining read. It is very enjoyable, as long as you know what to expect. It is more or less the author's fantasy of a badass agent who goes to great extents to defend justice by all means and bend the rules to achieve her goal. It's like watching XXX or the Expendables. You don't go for the unique plot, developed characters, or acting. You go for the fun and the explosions. Same thing with this book. Just suspend your incredulity and enjoy the ride.

Great book!

Read this book awhile back. Just reread it to refresh my memory as I want to read the entire series. This book has a bit of everything. I appreciated the strong characters. Their interactions and tasks as a unit were precisely executed. Hopefully we will see more interactions in future endeavors. There were also numerous threads left dangling. I need resolution. Happy reading.

Great thriller

This book kept you on your toes until the end. Loved the main character Sin. What a bad ass. Talk about someone with attitude. Can't wait to read the next book and see what happens next.

It's a little tongue-in-cheek, but you're going to fall in love with the main character. Great dialogue, excellent character development, even if some of the sub-characters are stereo-typed to save verbage, and lots of action and suspense, which is just what I was looking for. An entertaining read.

This book is an exciting beginning to a series.
There are many storylines going on at once, but they come together nicely.
I have the 2nd of the series already and will be reading it the next time I feel like more of this genre.

Action packed

This book was hard to put down. Excellent story telling. The plot had more twists and turns. The female lead is a bad ass!! I just love her. Playing by the rules isn't always the right way to get justice.

“Sin” by J.M. LeDuc

I’ve read LeDuc’s previous work and was completely entertained by them. But now, with this new series he’s started, The Sinclair O’Malley series, it’s more than entertaining. It’s thrilling, it’s quickly-turn-the-page heart racing, and it’s a series that I will definitely continue to read.

FBI Agent Sinclair O’Malley—known as Sin—is someone you don’t want to mess around with. Seemingly made of stone, she really has the heart of gold, but is steadfast and brazen during her missions. She trusts few people and even those people become suspicious in "Sin."

Her father is dying and this is the time for Sin to mend fences with him. To do this, she needs to go back home and while she’s there, her superiors tell her, she can go under the radar and investigate the mass of young girls’ dead bodies that have been found in the Keys. And of course, why two FBI agents were murdered there.

Sure, she can go under the pretense of visiting her sick father. Sure, she can find out why these young girls are being found murdered. Sure, she can find out what happened to two FBI agents. Sure, she can go in alone against ruthless killers and sick and twisted individuals without any back up. Sure; why not?

And when she does, she finds there’s more to the story than just dead girls and FBI Agents. Connecting with Charlie, an old friend and previous mentor, Sin sets her sights on Prophet Heap, the new ‘god-loving’ man in town. The very one who has the entire town under his thumb and the one who ran Sin’s father out of his own church and took it over.

While balancing a reunion with her father, whom she hasn’t seen in seven years, a friendship and eventual romance with long-ago nemesis Troy, she goes into one dangerous situation after another trying to bring down a slave trade and save more young girls from dying.

What Sin and others go through is harrowing, at best, and can be fatal for Sin and others who try to help her. This is a thriller you don’t want to miss. LeDuc has shown he’s on top of his game with some of his best writing. I won’t be missing the rest of this new series!

By the end of the first chapter, I was digging the book. The by end of the second chapter, I didn’t even realize that I was already starting the third. Things never slowed down from there. Not only did I love this book, I drank it in. There was a solid mystery to keep things moving, and there was enough action and suspense to satisfy fans of that genre as well. But the heart and soul of this book is, as it should be, its main character: Sinclair O’Malley. That’s alright, everyone just calls her Sin for short.

Sin is a powerful female protagonist who’s just dripping with character. She’s written with a sharp wit, a strong moral campus, and a propensity for harsh language. Add that up and you’ve got yourself a commanding female lead character that will leave you wanting more.

So back to the human traffic element of the story… It’s there. It’s a big part of the story. But it wasn’t at all what I expected. Mr. LeDuc has done a masterful job of crafting a fast paced, plot driven story that deals with a horrible subject mater, while at the same time not getting mired in the what might have been otherwise crippling detail. The key is the tasteful way that this part of the story has been written. Nothing is needlessly graphic—a method used by some authors to horrify the reader. This is not the case when J.M. LeDuc is at the wheel. Sin sees things but the reader is spared the unnecessary description at key times. I believe that was a careful choice on the part of the author, and a big win for the book overall. It opens it up to a wider range of potential readers—perhaps a slightly younger audience—but certainly any reader who is concerned about horrific detail when it comes to the more sensitive subject matter has been spared.

Add all of this up and you have a killer new protagonist in Sinclair O’Malley. This is a great launch for what I expect to be a very successful series of novels. I eagerly anticipate the second release. I understand that it is already in progress, and personally can’t wait!

Sin may just be the best book yet by J. M. LeDuc and I have loved his other books.

Sin, or Sinclair, is a kick ass protagonist. She was at the top of her class at Quantico, an FBI agent let go, and now recalled by the FBI Sin doesn't always play by the books. This was why she was let go by the FBI, but now..... they need her. She has been tagged to return home to find what happened to FBI agents that were found dead.

Sin uses this opportunity to make amends with her father, hook up with a boy from high school and bring down a huge human trafficking organization. At the same time she is outing the mole in the FBI. Sin relies on the help of her old friend Charlie, Troy who she whet to high school with and the members of her rouge team.

Sin is full of action. It was very hard to put down. Sometimes playing by the rules isn't the right way. Sin O'Malley walks the walk and talks the talk. She gets things done but in her own way. Nothing stops this girl.

J.M. LeDuc has his a homeroom with this first book of a new series. Now the only question is how long until the next Sin adventure. A must read.

JM LeDuc has captivated me with his new book and kick ass female protagonist, SIN. Not only is she strong, fierce and smart, she is also very believable.

As a FBI agent, she gets called back to her home town to investigate a series of murders as well as to make peace with her dying father. Her past is rocky in her old town and she tangles with friends and enemies alike when she returns. Getting into bar fights and kicking some butt is just a normal day for our protagonist.
SIN is drawn into a bizarre kidnapping and smuggling ring when bodies of young girls and a few FBI agents are found washed up on local beaches. But she can't do it alone so she calls in help from her old covert team. Will SIN get vengeance when she finds out that this case is linked to another case from her haunting past? You'll have to read it to find out.
J.M. Leduc has another winner on his hands. Sinclair O' Malley is my heroine, and since I can't get a Harley, I want a Pearl handle knife and gun just like her :) I loved SIN and can't wait to read more. I'm ready for the next Sinclair O'Malley book, so get to writing Mr. LeDuc :)

This book came to me highly recommended, a number of people who I know to have similar reading taste had been praising the book. When it was announced as this month’s book club read, I thought it was the perfect time to pick it up and give it a shot. I am writing this review after spending the night reading Sin, and I do mean all night. Once I started, I had to finish. I fell in love with the characters, Sin especially, is so much fun. It’s always refreshing to read a book with a lead female character that can take care of herself and Sin definitely falls into that category. She is smart, sassy, beautiful and can kick ass, what’s not to love? Several other characters stand out, both good & bad guys, which I think is a testament to LeDuc’s writing skill, he weaves such a horrific crime into the story, that you cannot help but get drawn in and hope that the ’bad guys’ get what is coming to them. If you haven’t read this book yet, I highly recommend you move it to the top of your to-read pile. I am already anxiously awaiting the next release, I hear 2015...but when? I don’t know if I can wait that long.

This is a fast action story about an ex-FBI agent who is recruited back to find out who killed 4 FBI agents in her home town. Our heroine, Sinclair O’Malley, rides a Harley, wears lots of black, and can kick butt. Her cover story for going back to a home she never wanted to return to is that her dad is dying. She finds things very different than what they were. And finds that her home town is being used by human traffickers.

She sets out with another former FBI agent and her mercenary team to bring down the traffickers. Most of the town is being held hostage by a new preacher who considers himself a prophet, however some are working for the traffickers.

The FBI actually plays only a small role. But Sinclair’s friend Charlie has plenty of electronic gear to break into secret files. I enjoyed this book. This is a great story if you like military style action and great quips from luscious lips. Lol. Yup, guys, she’s a hottie.

Excellent Action Story. This is the re-published edition of a book that has been around for several years, but with most/ all proofreading mistakes caught and with a new cover. And I've had this book for most of the time it existed - and only chose to read it now, with the third book in this series releasing this week. Man, I should have read this book years ago. Truly an awesome action story with a richly developed world and a bad-ass, take-no-prisoners type heroine. The former cover of the book had me thinking it was *vastly* different in style than it turned out to be, and the new cover is much more indicative of the near frenetic action you get with this tale. It cannot be said enough: If you like Jack Reacher type action tales but with a bit less brooding and a bit more knives in throats... you're going to love this book. Very much recommended.

Great read with a strong heroine

This was a great read with a strong heroine who truly delivers justice.

I know in reading some of the reviews, there were some criticisms on some written words and things that were described but need I remind people that what you're reading is fiction. The authors write stories that provides readers an escape from reality, regardless of the genre. If an author was to write nonfiction then I can understand that all plots/events would need to be perfect.

On that note...I enjoyed Sin and her group, the storyline and how the book ended. Sin may not have been perfectly realistic but that's the joys of an authors creation. Anything can be possible, characters can be whatever the author chooses even if the author writes about realistic issues in the world.

'Sin' is my first book by J.M. LeDuc, and it won't be my last !

Action, intrigue, and an incredible woman of substance on a mission to find out what happened to her previous boss in the FBI.

A take no s**t, "I'm going to find out the truth", full of finesse and oh so smooth type of woman that I'd personally like to have "watch my back" in difficult and life-threatening situations.

She filled the pages of my Kindle and kept me hooked . . intensely reading until the last page.

Do you enjoy action, fast paced and thrilling books? Then I'm sure you'll be very pleased with "Sin".

Lots of action, justice served, not legal, but justice

There was lots of action. In the middle of the book the action was just for the sake of action. It didn't advance the story. Some descriptions made me wonder if the author knew what he was talking about. "Rod" iron gate; 180 degree turn right to avoid someone chasing you, a clip for a semiautomatic pistol. But, while I considered dropping out in the middle, I stayed with it, mostly to confirm who Margaret was. Think I'll skip the next book.

I finally figured out why there are so many "thriller" type of books I cannot stand to finish. It's the lack of interest in the characters portrayed by the writer. This was so not the case with this book. The main character, Sin, is a kick-ass, self starting, one-woman fix it team with attitude to go around the world! The plot was based on what is actually happening in our world today - sex slavery. Throw in torture, murder, betrayal - what' not to love?

This book has been reworked and republished, which makes it even better. It is a great book with a great female lead character! The story was captivating and I could not stop reading this book. I liked that Sinclair O'Malley had issues in her past and struggled with returning to her home town. It made her seem more human in spite of her tough outlook on life. This was a fun fast-paced adventure to follow!

A fast paced, thrilling read

I was engrossed in the book from the start. Sin is one crazy, badass woman and everyone knows it. She goes undercover to break up a criminal ring and get justice as well. She reunites with her dad and a man from her past. There's not a lot of romance but just enough. This story was off the charts and I'm addicted!

Love this character!

This author and this story remind me of H. Terrell Griffin. I absolutely love the character J. M. LeDuc has created in Sin. It's fun to see a woman have such a great "part" that is typically reserved for men. Terrible crimes are committed but this book is exciting and was a page turner until the very last page!

Good story, interrupted by bad editing.

The story is good, interesting, compelling even, but the missing words, misplaced words, bad turning of phrases...were distracting. Once you lose the rhythm you start to notice that the characters are pretty one dimensional and the story is a bit too contrived. I won't be reading any further in this series.

SIN is suspense in its purest form! This book was like a drug, I couldn’t get enough! Fast paced and action-packed! I kept reading until my eyes burned from fatigue. Sinclair O’Malley is a badass bitch in the best of ways! The story will have the reader burning through the pages. No forgiveness asked here, I want more SIN!
