In this 3rd book in the Sarah Blair Mystery series, Sarah and her sister are still struggling to open their restaurant. This time inspection woes have delayed their dream project.....long enough for weasel-y rival Jane to pop back up to cause trouble. Jane opens a competing restaurant quite close to Sarah & Emily's delayed upscale eatery. When Jane's talented chef turns up dead, Sarah and her pals land in the soup again....

I love this series! It's always an enjoyable mix of murder mystery and humor. RahRah the siamese cat is of course a favorite character of mine. And I enjoy hating the daylights out of annoying Jane, as I am sure is the author's intention. There are times I want to hop into the book and just punch Jane. I would gladly smack her....but killing her chef is a pretty low blow. :)

Great read! I needed some cozy goodness with everything going on in my life. This book gave me a nice spot of humor and entertainment! I read my review copy and then also checked out the audio book on Scribd. I love listening to cozies....it makes my commute to work more interesting and it's just enjoyable to have a cute story read to me. Even though I knew how the plot turned out already, I still enjoyed listening to the audio. Emily Beresford narrates. She reads at a nice, steady pace and has a pleasant voice. The audio is just over 7.5 hours. All in all, a great listening experience!

Can't wait for the next book in this series! Oh, and there are recipes in the book as well!

Sarah's late ex-husband's mistress, Jane , continues to be a thorn in her side. Jane opened a restaurant across the street from the soon to open Southwind restaurant in which Sarah is a part owner. To make it even worse a good friend is accused of murdering a key employee in Jane's restaurant. So of course Sarah, who is known for being curious, starts looking into the murder.

I really enjoyed the well thought out plot. It had a lot going on that kept my attention throughout the whole book. This is the third in the series but could be read as a stand alone. Thanks to Kensington and NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

Things are tense in Wheaton, Alabama with two new restaurants opening. What’s funny is that Sarah Blair, whose cooking skills are pretty minimal is co-owner of one of the new places with her twin sister, Chef Emily. They are just waiting for the town building inspector to do the final inspection so they can have their grand opening.

The other new restaurant, Jane’s Place, is owned by Sarah’s late husband’s mistress who has hired vegan chef Riley Miller. Jane is hoping serving vegan dishes will set her restaurant apart from the others. Sarah and most of the town have turned out from the grand opening and if the food served is any indication Jane Place will be a worthy competitor for Sarah’s Southwinds Restaurant.

The night seems to be a rousing success until Chef Riley is found dead in the parking lot with her former boyfriend Jacob kneeling by her body. Jane wants the man arrested immediately. While he may be the prime suspect Sarah cannot believe he could have killed the young chef. Sarah’s boss agrees to defend Jacob but much to his dismay Sarah starts digging around to find more worthy suspects too. She may soon regret her actions as the killer has no reservations about killing again.

The author has penned a diverse group of characters from chefs to motorcycle riding vets to building contractors to two lovable fur-babies. Sarah is an excellent protagonist because she always seems to land right in the middle of whatever is happening in the small town of Wheaton. Being a small town most of the characters are connected in multiple ways which makes the story very interesting. The characters are all cleverly written and unique so it is easy to keep everyone straight. I do love the Blair family dynamics. Maybelle has become a real hoot! RahRah and Fluffy always make me smile and their closeness reminds me of some of the pets I have had over the years.

Because of all interpersonal connections, the mystery is a treat to solve as many of the characters become suspects in their own right. A second death turns up the heat as does a smelly discovery. Thankfully Sarah has the gift of gab or the ending could have taken a dire turn. The author serves up some really nice twists to keep people guessing. I was thrilled that I solved the whodunit before all was revealed but the ending was exciting and very entertaining.

Three Treats Too Many is a delightful addition to this series. Fun characters and a great mystery, this book doesn’t disappoint. I have enjoyed all three books in this series and recommend reading them in order to enjoy the character growth and fun mysteries. Four Cuts Too Many is impatiently waiting on my Kindle. I will be reading and reviewing soon.

Sarah Blair is an intelligent woman with a penchant for being inquisitive bordering on nosy, but that helps her figure out puzzling things like sabotage at the restaurant her sister is trying to get opened, navigating town politics and of course solving murders. This book really shows that inquisitive side off as she must untangle a web of potential suspects to find the truth hidden at the core before an innocent man is sent to jail. Well plotted with nicely placed hints at who the real culprit could be, but with enough red herrings to keep you guessing. I absolutely am falling in love with this series and can't wait to see what Sarah and her gang get drawn into in future books!

While Sarah Blair's sister's restaurant is having trouble opening due to a slow kitchen inspector, rival Jane's restaurant hosts a free open house for Wheaton, Alabama's "Who's Who." Her new sous chef Riley has prepared vegan dishes which are the hit of the party. But not everyone is pleased with Riley--after the event she is found dead by her ex-beau Jacob. He was on the scene screaming for help but Sarah is convinced that the Jacob she knows would never harm anyone. When another member of the motorcycle club also dies under mysterious circumstances, Sarah strongly believes the two are connected. But could trying to help a friend cost Sarah her life?

I really enjoyed this book. While it is helpful to have read the prior two in the series, it can be read as a standalone. It was very well-written, and I only put it down due to external factors. There were a lot of interconnections between characters which made the suspect list grow longer as the book progressed. However, I didn't feel overwhelmed as I sometimes do when other cozies seemingly "throw" names out to merely muddle the waters. I fell for one of the red-herrings and didn't guess the killer's identity until it was almost too late. Her relationship with Cliff continues to progress at a comfortable pace for her needs and I am happy that her self-confidence continues to grow after such a difficult divorce.

Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington for an ARC of this book. My review is voluntary.

"Three Treats Too Many" is the third entry in the Sarah Blair mystery series, which continues to become more engaging with each book. In this installment, Sarah and her chef sister Emily, together with Marcus, their third partner (also a chef and Emily's significant other), are preparing to open a new restaurant in Wheaton, Alabama -- across the street from another new eatery started by Sarah's nemesis, Jane. They are facing red tape in completing inspections, which has allowed Jane and her new chef, Riley, to get a leg up on opening their doors, earning rave reviews for Riley's vegan offerings. When Riley turns up dead on the night of an event at Jane's Place, the police are convinced that Sarah and Emily's friend, Jacob, killed her in a fit of jealousy. Pulled into investigating by Jacob's sister, a local politico, Sarah enlists the help of her lawyer boss and friend, Harlan, as well as others in her circle, to find out the truth.

This well-written and entertaining mystery features a great cast of characters -- in addition to the central ones already mentioned, they include Sarah and Emily's quirky mother (who insists they call her by her first name, Maybelle), their mutual friend Eloise, Sarah's neighbor George (Mr. Rogers, who is apparently courting Maybelle), police Chief Gerard, friend Grace, would-be boyfriend Cliff, the veterinarians/motorcycle enthusiasts whose office is also nearby... and last, but by no means least, Sarah's cat RahRah and new puppy Fluffy. Being an animal lover, especially cats, I adore Sarah's devotion to her pets -- a theme that is woven throughout the book, and actually plays a part, indirectly, in the mystery.

Wheaton is one of those charming, fictitious towns that you wish were real (murder notwithstanding!) because of how well the author has conceived of and describes the location and the residents. The mystery is well plotted. As I neared the end, I started to suspect who the killer might be, but I wasn't sure, and the reason for it turned out to be a big surprise. I look forward to reading about the further adventures of Sarah, RahRah, and the rest of the gang!

In the sleepy, small community of Wheaton, Alabama, only a short drive from Birmingham, an uncanny number of murders continue to occur. In fact, it almost seems as dangerous a place to live as St. Mary Mead. In author Debra Goldstein’s third of her series, ‘Three Treats Too Many,’ (‘One Taste Too Many,’ ‘Two Bites Too Many’), a young sous chef is murdered in the parking lot of a debuting restaurant, Jane’s Place. The victim is described by associates as flighty and a flirt, a young woman who loved the thrill of riding motorcycles, and who had a promising future in the food industry. There are suspects galore, in fact, almost everyone in Wheaton might have killed her, but all circumstantial evidence points toward Jacob, a young, likeable friend of Sarah and Emily Blair. Sarah, the main character in this series, seems to always find herself in a position where she must do her own sleuthing to catch the killer or killers responsible for Wheaton’s high crime rate. Her curiosity is a definite motivator for this, as well as her loyalty to friends and family, despite her repeated promises to her lawyer boss and the police that she will not get involved. But of course, nothing is easy. The person Sarah suspects soon winds up as a murder victim, too. Farther into the investigation Sarah goes, until she, herself, is in grave danger. There are many parts to this novel that help heighten tension and flesh out characters, including Sarah’s cat Rah Rah and her sister, Emily, who is also a sous chef and who is in the throes of opening a restaurant with several partners right across the street from Jane’s Place. For those who enjoy mysteries steeped in food, animals, and life in the Deep South, this fun series will keep armchair detectives guessing. And for that matter, it will keep recipe-aficionados cooking, as there are a number of featured recipes found at the end of this story. The author’s fourth of this series, ‘Four Cuts Too Many’ is scheduled for release this week.

Having read the first two books in the Sarah Blair Mysteries, I was excited to read Three Treats too Many by Debra H. Goldstein, and it’s another good cozy mystery fitting of the genre!

We are introduced to a lot more characters in this book, especially those of the local motorcycle group that Sarah had no idea existed and three veterinarians who are also Vets that have their practice right next door to Jane’s (Sarah’s arch nemesis) new restaurant. Jane is not a likeable character, but she gets a bit of comeuppance later on in the book when Sarah finds there’s something rotten in regards to Jane’s vegan dishes. We also get to interact more with Jacob and his sister, Anne, who shows a bit of her softer side.

One of the things that draws me to cozy mysteries is the characters; how well they are developed and if I want to come back book after book to see what is new with their lives, and Goldstein does an excellent job in regards to this. Even Sarah’s pets, RahRah and Fluffy have unique personalities and they add a warm and fuzzy layer to the books.

Riley isn’t as sweet as she seemed, which slowly gets discovered, that combined with all the red herrings and lots of suspects makes for a great whodunnit. The end does come pretty fast and there seems to be a lot of this type of killer lately in cozies, but it doesn’t take away from a great book.

The Sarah Blair Mysteries is a series I highly recommend, and although you don’t have to, you may want to start with book one, One Taste too Many, so you can enjoy how the characters grow and get even more of RahRah and Fluffy.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

I just say this one starts with a bang. Sarah and her sister are waiting for the final inspection which would allow them to finally open their upscale restaurant in the big house. The inspector is dragging things out though which lets her rival Jane open her own fancy place across the street with a very talented sous chef. After several successful soft openings the big day has arrived with a buffet full of the new menu options for free. Tensions are high as pretty much everyone comes to try it. Then the new sous chef is found murdered out back leaving a whole slew of suspects. Sarah's friend is the main suspect though she doesn't believe he did it so she starts poking into things. This leads us on a merry adventure as she tries to figure things out. Add in the adorable pets and you get a cozy mystery you will not want to put down. A great read for fans of the genre. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

This is the third installment in the Sarah Series. I read the first book in this series but not the second installment. I wish I would have read that one, as well, as I felt a little lost as there were several references to the other two books in the series. In this one, Sarah’s twin, Emily and her boyfriend, Marcus have renovated Sarah’s home to be the new Southwind restaurant. They are just waiting for the building inspector to approve the renovations. In the meantime, Sarah’s nemesis, Jane, has opened Jane’s Place and her Sous Chef, Riley is the hit with her vegan dishes. When Riley is found dead outside of Jane’s Place the night of before the grand opening, Sarah’s friend Jacob is suspected. Of course, Jacob’s sister, Anne, asks Sarah to investigate to find the killer.
There are many suspects in this story, so Sarah has her job cut out for her. Sarah has to dig through a lot of information about the local bike club and those who have had military training to find the killer. Sarah thinks she has it figured out when the local building inspector, Louis, also passes away from an apparent motorcycle accident. This adds to the mystery of who want both Riley and Louis dead. Sarah is a great protagonist and is a strong character. The setting of this story is nice, is set in a small town outside of Birmingham, AL. There are many other likable characters that adds to who could have done the crimes. Sarah also has two charming pets, Rah Rah and Fluffy that make the story more interesting. This book grabbed my attention from the beginning and kept me turning pages till the end. I was totally surprised by the ending and was thrown for a loop by who the killer was and why they did it. I will definitely be going back and reading the second in this series.

Sarah Blair has moved back to Wheaton, Alabama.
Her twin sister, Chef Emily and Marcus are
running the Southwind’s Pub. They are waiting
inspection for their white tablecloth Southwind
restaurant to open.
Meanwhile, Sarah’s nemesis, Jane has opened a
restaurant right across the street from where
Southwind is to open. Jane is “the bimbo” that
stole Jane’s ex-husband. Jane has hired a cook
named Riley Miller that specializes in vegan
cuisine. The vegan menu has their restaurant packed.
The night before the grand opening of Jane’s
Place, the vegan chef is found murdered!!!
When Sarah’s friend gets accused, she has to
prove his innocence. Especially when Anne, the
sister of the accused and up-coming politician,
requests Sarah to investigate.
As Sarah moves forward the plot thickens at
every turn. A slew of well defined, well written
characters keep Sarah rethinking the culprit.
But Sarah is determined to weed through all she
has discovered to find out who murdered the
vegan chef.
Besides well created humans, Sarah’s fur babies:
Siamese cat Rah, Rah and her dog Fluffy add to
the flavor of the story.
I could not put the book down from the first word
until the complex puzzle was solved. I enjoyed the
different angles thrown into the mix as it kept me
guessing up until the culprit was caught.
Although this is book # 3 in the Sarah Blair
Mystery series, the author provides enough
backstory that the past and present are presented
effortlessly.
I volunteered to read Three Treats Too Many.
My opinion is voluntary and my own.
Delicious recipes are included at the story’s end.
A Definite Book To Read!!

This newest Sarah Blair mystery is a fun and at times frightening read. Third in its series, I enjoy seeing the changes in the town of Wheaton, Alabama and the people. The characters are fully developed and engaging, and include a variety of ages, careers, and hobbies. While this is set in the south, just outside Birmingham, I don’t recall local colloquialisms or speech mannerisms being used. The mystery is fabulous, one I really had to think about throughout. We also get to see some of the dreams of the characters blossom after many difficult months.

Jacob is good friend of Sarah. He is a line chef for her twin sister Emily, and Emily’s boyfriend Marcus’s Southwind Pub, even knew them in San Francisco and was instrumental in bringing Marcus to town. Jacob had been dating Riley, a new chef who was hired by the nearby competition, Jane’s Place, which is celebrating its grand opening. Riley has specialty vegan dishes that will really give Southwind, the high-end restaurant that Emily and Marcus will open as soon as they pass the final inspection. Riley, however, now has eyes only for Louis, the building inspector whose final sign-off they await.

The night of Riley’s presentation at the grand opening, she gives a wonderful presentation of her dishes. Her feelings for Louis are obvious, especially when he leaves in a huff and she runs behind. Jacob left soon after. Only moments later, Jane is outside screaming, Jacob is kneeling over Riley, and Riley is dead. The police have no suspects other than Jacob, based on his past behaviors when Riley tossed him aside for different guys, and his martial arts training. The manner of her death was one used by law enforcement, those trained in martial arts, or in the military. Sarah is asked to help find the real killer, as she had helped with a couple recent murders, and people are confident in her ability to sort clues.

One of the things I enjoy about this series is how close RahRah, the cat she got from her late mother-in-law, and Sarah are, and his cat-sonality. His behaviors are so realistic! I also enjoy seeing how Fluffy, a recent canine addition, and RahRah get along. A protagonist in a cozy mystery whose cooking skills are about the same as mine is a relief, especially since she is surrounded by people who adept at culinary endeavors. Sarah’s behaviors are a bit impetuous when she is on the trail of a killer, often getting just a little too close to whodunit! I was stunned at whodunit, as the person was not somebody I considered at all! The end was satisfying, with all loose ends tied up. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys well-written cozy mysteries, cats, and loyal friends.

From a thankful heart: I received a complimentary copy of this novel, and this is my honest review.

Three Treats Too Many is the third installment in the wonderful “A Sarah Blair Mystery” series by author Debra H. Goldstein. Although this book is part of a series, the author provides just enough backstory to allow a new reader to catch up easily without being too repetitious for those of us who have read the series from the beginning. Sarah Blair and her twin sister, Emily, along with Emily’s boyfriend, Marcus, are owners of an up and coming restaurant in Wheaton, Alabama, called Southwind. Unfortunately for chefs Emily and Marcus, the restaurant can’t open its doors until the city inspector, Louis Botts, completes his final inspection, and he seems to be dragging his heels. If that’s not enough to cause some significant angst, another new restaurant, Jane’s Place, is also planning to open in town…right across the street from Southwind. Jane’s Place is owned by none other than Sarah’s nemesis, Jane Clark, AKA the “bimbo”, as Sarah refers to her as, who was Sarah’s late ex-husband’s mistress. The night before Jane’s Place’s grand opening, everyone in Wheaton is drooling over the delicious vegan dishes made by Jane’s new and talented sous chef, Riley Miller. After witnessing an argument between Marcus and Louis Botts about Southwind’s final inspection, Sarah also sees Riley trying to comfort Louis who brushes her off before angrily leaving the restaurant with Riley running quickly after him. Soon after, a horrible mournful sound is heard, and Sarah rushes outside to find her friend, Jacob, kneeling over Riley’s dead body. Even though Jacob was in love with Riley, who did not return his feelings, Sarah doesn’t believe her friend could murder anyone, but Jacob becomes the prime suspect in her death. When Jacob’s sister asks for her help in proving Jacob’s innocence, Sarah starts her own investigation into Riley’s unfortunate demise. With a plethora of suspects and motives to sort through, can Sarah find the real murderer before Jacob is arrested and sent to jail? This is really a delightful series with a brave, quirky, and very relatable heroine in Sarah Blair. I love that her twin sister is a chef, and Sarah herself can barely cook, and I especially love that Sarah’s two fur babies, RahRah the cat and Fluffy the dog, are also characters in this series. The human characters, too, are well defined, the motives of each suspect feel realistic, and the relationships between the recurring characters feel real. I liked how the murder occurred early in the book so the mystery could develop quickly which, to me, makes the plot all the more engaging. With multiple red herrings and numerous twists in the storyline, this book was a great whodunnit. I loved it and can’t wait for the next book in this series!

ARC received via Netgalley for an honest review

I have not read the previous books in the Sarah Blair Mystery series, however I an right into cozy mysteries at the moment, so it didn't affect my reading or enjoyment of book 3.

Besides Sarah, there are a lot, and i mean a lot of characters to get your hear around. Probably a few too many. However this may be because I have not read the previous books.

I liked that I was kept thinking, kept wondering about whodunnit - I quite often pick it early, however I didn't get this one until all was revealed.

I like our leading lady Sarah and her fur kiddos. I liked the relationships that developed through the story. And I like that I have a couple of books to go back and read.

I hope there are more Sarah Blair Mysteries in the future.

"Three Treats Too Many" is the third book in the Sarah Blair series by Debra H. Goldstein, and is a fabulous addition to the series! Goldstein has scored a home run with main character Sarah, who is practical, straight-forward, and genuinely kind. I've enjoyed watching Sarah's growth through the first two books, and was pleased to see it continue in this one. I also appreciate that Sarah herself knows and admits she still has some self-improvement to do, and spends some time thinking about it. I can't wait to see what comes next for her. Minor characters (including snippy rival Jane, up-and-coming politician Anne, Rah-Rah the Siamese cat, and Fluffy the puppy) are also well-drawn, with distinctive personalities. I'm particularly excited to see what Anne will tackle in upcoming books!

In this installment, Sarah gets involved when a young woman is murdered near her home/business, and one of her friends is the main suspect.

Once again, Ms. Goldstein manages to avoid the typical cozy mystery romance tropes. Three books into the series, and our heroine is still single, and just embarking on a new romantic relationship that definitely takes a back seat to the rest of the story. That is refreshing! Yes, cozy fans, a mystery can be fabulous and filled with important relationships without focusing on romance (or a love triangle).

I honestly didn't know who to suspect until very near the end, when some new clues come to light. Everything made sense at that point, but I honestly had never thought of the killer as a suspect.

Everything about this book was great...the characters, the pets, the mystery, the descriptions and world-building....give this series a try! You won't be disappointed!

This is the third book in the Sarah Blair mystery series by Debra H. Goldstein.

While Sarah and her sister are waiting for their new restaurant to be inspected, her late ex—husband’s mistress is already having a grand opening for her own restaurant. Lots of rivalry between these two as Jane even tries to steal one of Sarah’s employees after her popular vegan sous chef is found dead outside their establishment.

Sarah’s life is pretty full in this book. There is a whole secondary storyline featuring her two animals RahRah the cat and Fluffy the dog and the veteran run vet clinic.

Riley Miller, the late sous chef is also a pretty visible character even in death. She was a big fan of motor bikes and made it her mission to ride with others who owned a bike every weekend. She dated and dumped quite a few guys in her young life and so the suspect pool was pretty large, to say the least.

This one was a hard one to figure out but I enjoyed the chase as Sarah stuck her nose into the investigation. Lots of great characters here and a rich community that just jumps off the page. Loving this new to me series. Definitely one I want to continue on with.

If you like cozy mysteries, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

I really enjoyed Three Treats Too Many, the third installment in the Sarah Blair series by Debra H. Goldstein, I had not yet read the first two books, but was able to follow along quite well.
I found the story to be well thought out, and the characters to be well developed, and relatable ( I have a soft spot RahRah, I’m a pushover for a Siamese!)
As for the crime, I thought there was plenty of diversion, and I didn’t have it figured out until it was being revealed.
I also particularly enjoyed the inclusion of the the yummy recipes at the first end, and I’m looking forward to trying the Pumpkin Quinoa Muffins.

Can’t wait to go back and read the first books in the series and catch up on what has happened with the citizens of Wheaton!

Sarah Blair is enjoying her new life. She loves living in the guesthouse while she, her sister and Marcus prepare to open their fine-dining restaurant in the big house left to Sarah by her ex-mother-in-law.
Then the restaurant across the street, owned by Sarah’s late ex-husband’s ‘bimbo,’ gets certified by the local city inspector first. Wanting to scout the competition, and check out the vegan chef who’s getting so much buzz, Sarah attends the grand opening, which ends with a scream. The new chef is dead out behind the restaurant, and one of Sarah’s friends is standing over her body.
There’s a lot going on in this book, and Goldstein has woven it all together in an entertaining and educational way. She touches on motorcycle groups, veterans’ issues, and animal shelters without taking too deep a dive but letting the reader see a small and personal piece of those pictures.
I enjoyed this third installment in the series. The relationships are nicely layered, and I can’t wait to see what the author comes up with next!

Three Treats Too Many by Debra H. Goldstein is the 3rd book in the Sarah Blair Mystery series, and another fun addition. Sarah and Emily are twins who are very different. Sarah is divorced, and is working at a law firm as a receptionist. Emily is a chef, who is high achieving. Due to an inheritance Sarah was able to invest in Emily's new restaurant. When a restaurant opens across the street, Emily and Sarah are concerned, especially when their chef is murdered. Once I started this book I could not stop reading it. It was a quick read that kept me guessing. I look forward to the next book in the series. I highly recommend this book for all cozy mystery book lovers.

I always enjoy the Sarah Blair mysteries written by Debra H. Goldstein, and this was no exception. RahRah might be my favorite cat around these days, and the cooking scene is so much fun for me to read about. I consistently enjoy the mysteries Goldstein writes as well, and the characters in this series are some of my favorites. Another great book in this series!!

Sarah is our sleuth, a legal secretary, friend to many, and she is the human of RahRah (a siamese cat) and Fluffy (a cute white puppy). She is pulled into action as Anne's brother Jacob is the main suspect in the killing of his former girlfriend and chef, Riley. Although she doesn't want to be involved, her curiosity is peaked. But Sarah is leary of Anne's motives again.

Sarah is sweet. However, she is still dealing with some past issues, and sometimes those views cloud her judgment. I am glad that she is working on it and moving past some of them. This girl can't cook much, but she doesn't let that stop her from having luncheons for a house full. Oh, the way she shops with pictures is unique.
The Mystery
Three Treats Too Many CRRiley, the vegan Chef of Jane's Place, is found murdered in the restaurant's dumpster area. It seems that everyone loves Riley, and there isn't anyone that would want to hurt her. However, that isn't what Sarah finds when investigating. Then the one person that could have done the deed other than Jacob is killed in a biking accident.  Coincidence? Only Sarah and the murderer know whodunit.
Four Stars
This story is a good mystery. The secret and motive were well hidden and played out well. I enjoy the parts with RahRah and Fluffy, but I wish there were a few more of them. Oh, and Maybelle is fabulous. My rating for Three Treats Too Many by Debra H. Goldstein is four stars. I do recommend this to all cozy cat readers out there.

And there are some lovely recipes at the back of the book.

A scream from the back sets the mystery in motion. When Sarah Blair hears the scream from her position in the dining room in Jane’s Place (which happens to be run by the mistress of Sarah’s ex-husband), she, and others go running. It seems that the new restaurants sous chef has been found dead, and Sarah’s friend Jacob is standing over the body. Sarah’s then asked to please solve this crime. Apparently, people in town don’t trust the now acting Chief of Police to get the correct culprit, and since Sarah’s successfully solved other murders, she’s asked to solve this one as well.
But that’s not all Sarah has to worry about. The building inspector’s taking his sweet time coming to the restaurant that Sarah’s twin, Emily is in the process of opening, and Sarah’s still working full time as a receptionist for a lawyer.
When it’s found out that Jacob’s been infatuated with the victim, all eyes start to turn towards him, except for a few. Then, the building inspector dies in a motorcycle accident right after he and Jacob get into an argument. It’s not looking good for poor Jacob, and Sarah’s got to figure out if he’s really the culprit, or if there’s someone else with an axe to grind. Someone who hates both victims enough to kill them.
Even though this is the third book in the series, it could be read without too much issue. This was the first book for me, and I didn’t feel like I was missing out on too much, but with a good storyline, great characters and wonderful recipes at the end, I want to start the series from the beginning.

Sarah Blair's nemesis Jane has been able to open a restaurant across the street from the one she is building with her twin sister chef Emily and her partner Marcus. Jane's Place has been full during the soft openings thanks to chef Riley's superb vegan dishes. Sarah attends one of these free meals with her friend and part-time employee Jacob Hightower. After witnessing an altercation between Jacob, Riley and local building inspector Louis Botts, Sarah hears a scream outside. She finds Jacob hovering over Riley's dead body and Jane accusing him of murder.

Sarah refuses to believe Jacob is the culprit and is pressured by his pushy sister Anne to help find the real killer. As Sarah learns more about Riley, she realizes that many people have been hurt by her casual relationships. One group that unites many of the suspects is the Wheaton Wildcats motorcycle club which includes Botts, Jacob, and several veterinarians at the pet clinic next to Jane's Place. Sarah also suspects that Botts is deliberately delaying the final inspection needed for her restaurant Southwind to open.

After Botts dies in a freak motorcycle accident, Sarah wonders if the two deaths are connected. Sarah's curious nature almost leads to her death when she witnesses one of the suspects entering the workplace at night.

This was another fun entry in the Sarah Blair mystery series. Sarah's two pets, Rah Rah and Fluffy are a welcome presence throughout the story.

I received an eARC from Netgalley and Kensington Books with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and provided this review.

Jane's new restaurant is hopping, while Sarah, Emily, and Marcus' Southwind is still waiting on inspection. Riley, Jane's Place's chef, is reveling in the accolades for her vegan dishes, but it seems not everyone was so impressed as she's found dead behind the restaurant.
Though this is book three, enough background is given that new readers to the series should be able to jump in easily. I enjoyed reading about the restaurant preparations and cooking. I also learned something about motorcycles and I love the interaction with the pets, both Rah-Rah and Fluffy, and the shelter animals like Buddy. I'm happy to see Jane finally get a little comeuppance and Eloise and Maybelle's covert operation that led to it was hilarious. I would like to see Sarah stand up to Anne more. It also seemed Sarah didn't do as much investigating in this one, when she did it was usually driven by another character. The ending was a good one, the reveal hinging on a throwaway comment by a character a bit earlier. There are also recipes included to try. Another good entry in the series.

Sarah can't seem to get a break from the hateful Jane - her dead ex-husband's paramour. She's opened a vegan (vegan!) restaurant across from the still hung up in red tape restaurant that Sarah owns with her sister Emily. Sarah's spending a lot of time arguing about various requirements that weren't a problem for Jane or for the vets or anyone else for that matter. Then, in the middle of everything, the hot vegan chef Riley is murdered and Sarah's friend (and sous chef) Jacob is the prime suspect. Yikes! What secret did Riley harbor that made her a target? No spoilers from me. I like Sarah, a woman who doesn't give up, and here she won't stop til she finds the truth (and a little something rotten about Jane). There's two nice pets- RahRah the cat and Fluffy the dog- a motorcycle "gang" focused on a charity, and a good small town atmosphere. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A fun cozy- with recipes of course!

After reading the first two books in this series, I was psyched to get my hands on this one... and Debra Goldstein did not disappoint! This is the perfect cozy, with lovable characters (except for Jane-- we all hate her), adorable pets, great recipes, and just enough twists and turns to keep you guessing whodunnit until the very end.

I've loved watching Sarah grow over the course of these novels, and she's turned into a true mystery-solving machine-- especially now that the dynamic between her and Harlan has shifted and she's really come into her own.

This is a fun, engaging read that is impossible to put down once you start! If this is your introduction to this series, don't worry-- this works just as well as a standalone, but it'll leave you wanting more!!

I received a free copy of this book but my review is entirely voluntary. Three Treats to Many was the first book I had read in this series but had no problem with it as a stand alone mystery. The restaurant Sarah co-owns with her sister, Emily, has faced numerous delays. Now they must attend the opening of a rival restaurant across the street. When the chef of Jane's is found dead with Sarah's friend, Jacob, kneeling over the body things take a turn for the worse and Sarah goes on the hunt for the murderer. I love the eclectic cast of characters and the humorous writing. The neighborhood mixture of restaurants, residence, vet clinic and motorcycle gang hangout is great and the writing puts you right in the middle of everything. I highly recommend Three Treats Too Many to all cozy mystery lovers and look forward to this ongoing series.

Synopsis:

When a romantic rival opens a competing restaurant in small-town Wheaton, Alabama, Sarah Blair discovers murder is the specialty of the house . . .

For someone whose greatest culinary skill is ordering takeout, Sarah never expected to be co-owner of a restaurant. Even her Siamese cat, RahRah, seems to be looking at her differently. But while Sarah and her twin sister, Chef Emily, are tangled up in red tape waiting for the building inspector to get around to them, an attention-stealing new establishment–run by none other than Sarah’s late ex-husband’s mistress, Jane–is having its grand opening across the street.

Jane’s new sous chef, Riley Miller, is the talk of Wheaton with her delicious vegan specialties. When Riley is found dead outside the restaurant with Sarah’s friend, Jacob, kneeling over her, the former line cook–whose infatuation with Riley was no secret–becomes the prime suspect. Now Sarah must turn up the heat on the real culprit, who has no reservations about committing cold-blooded murder . . .

Includes quick and easy recipes! (From Goodreads)

Review:

It was great fun to visit Sarah, her family, and friends again in Alabama! I especially enjoyed seeing how her pets, RahRah, her late mother-in-law’s cat, and Fluffy, a former neighbor’s dog, are getting along together. This story invited me in on the first page and kept me engaged throughout. The mysteries were quite difficult to solve; I was completely surprised to learn who the real bad guy was and why!

Sarah’s confidence in and acceptance of herself has grown since her divorce from her now-late ex-husband. She is a partner in her twin sister Emily’s and Emily’s boyfriend Marcus’s new venture, Southwind, which will open as soon as the final inspection is complete. Sarah’s skills continue to improve as a receptionist/ assistant to her boss Harlan, an attorney, and they both volunteer regularly at the local animal shelter. The only twinges of discomfort she has is whether Cliff, the man she is dating has the same intentions toward her as she has for him.

It is past time for the new Southwind white tablecloth restaurant to open, and Botts, the inspector, pleads that his workload has caused the delay. The competition, Jane’s Place, skated through all their inspections and is celebrating a very successful grand opening. Jane once worked for Sarah, Emily’s twin, but her cooking isn’t what attracts customers to the restaurant. Riley, a recent culinary school grad, is her star chef. She brings a highly sought-after repertoire of vegan recipes that have customers all over Wheaton talking about Jane’s Place.

Jane herself is one of Sarah’s least favorite people, having had an affair with Sarah’s late ex that caused their divorce. She tried to take RahRah from her, but RahRah, bless his sweet feline heart, wouldn’t cooperate. Attending the open house at Jane’s Place wasn’t the highlight of Sarah’s week, but it was necessary. Emily and Marcus are the chefs at Southwind, as Sarah is as cooking challenged as I am. By the end of the evening, however, Riley was dead in the parking lot from what appeared to be a broken neck. The acting chief of police, Dwayne Gerard, had one suspect. Jacob, a close friend of Sarah and former boyfriend of Riley, was kneeling by Riley’s body, in shock. The chief sees Jacob’s motive as Riley having tossed him aside for the building inspector, Botts, with the means being his hands from years of martial arts training.

Jacob’s sister Anne and their friend Eloise ask Sarah to look into the murder, as she has already helped solve two in recent months. Sarah feels that her discoveries in those murders were lucky guesses, and Harlan doesn’t want her involved in another investigation for her own safety. This time, as Jacob’s lawyer, Harlan absolutely doesn’t want her “help” as he has his own methods of working to defend or clear his clients. Most people who know Jacob and Riley want to help clear him, including the people in the motorcycle club he is a member of. When another murder occurs and Jacob is being considered for that, the stakes skyrocket, and Sarah can’t quite let go of it.

The characters are an eclectic mix of folks who are defined very well. Learning more about Eloise has been a delight; I would have never pictured her riding her own motorcycle! Nor did I anticipate there being a local motorcycle club for people who like to ride together for fun and to raise money for charities in Wheaton. It is a pleasure to watch Sarah blossom in all areas of her life, even if I don’t always agree with her impulsive actions when trying to find a killer.

There are fascinating plot twists that kept me hopping and changing suspects! The author shared about the motorcycles and accessories that were part of the story and explained everything very well. There were a couple things about vegan cooking I was unaware of before. Sarah’s interactions with RahRah and Fluffy are spot on to demonstrate how close we can be with our companion pets. While there is a spot of romance, it is just enough to enhance rather than detract from the story. Not one of the people I suspected was the bad guy! The killer(s) was absolutely not on my radar at all! There were surprises at the end, which was very satisfying. I highly recommend this novel and series!
