The Truth about Us

Our story is far from perfect, but there's not one risk I regret taking to get the girl.
Not the judgment.
Not the whispers.
Not the stares.
Because age is just a number, and we survived.
Ollie and Charlie against the world.
Except now ... there's Milo.

Re-read-(7/17-7/18/22)

I always talk about wanting to be a fly on the wall after my especially beloved books end. In this, the author was kind enough to give me that.

When The Truth About Tomorrow ended we found out that Charlie was pregnant and Ollie proposed.

Charlie gives birth to a beautiful boy who turns out to be deaf. This story mostly entails their journey on deciding if they should get the surgery that would allow him to hear.

Plus we got time between the lovers, who are even more head over heels after officially being together for over five years.

It’s sweet and endearing. I’m sure everyone has seen those videos when toddlers hear or see for the first time. They’re always a tearjerker and this was the same.

Perfect Novella for one of my favorite couples!

I've missed Ollie and Charlie so much!! This novella was perfect and I'm glad that we were able to dive back into their world for a little bit longer. Their love was always worth it and the life that they've created was proof of that. You cannot go wrong with a B Celeste book!

Songs: A Thousand Years — Christina Perry
Safe and Sound — Taylor Swift
I Get to Love You — Ruelle

Oh my god this short, just over 100 pages novella was so wholesome, it broke my heart and then put it back together.

When I read the blurb, I thought Milo was gonna be some new guy that comes into Charlie’s life, making her choose between Oliver and Milo. I wasn’t wrong… but not completely right. Milo is the adorable baby boy of Charlie and Oliver. They’re married now. And Milo is born. But there’s a catch: Milo is deaf.

He was born without the ability to hear. This book walks us though how Charlie and Oliver get through this, ultimately opting to get Milo a cochlear implant. Reading the way Milo reacted to hearing them for the first time made me bawl my eyes out. It was so adorable and so wholesome. The love that both of them, especially Charlie, have for Milo is so pure, it felt almost criminal to read into their thoughts and feelings about the situation. River and Everett, as well as their two kids make an appearance as well.

The book ends I think six or seven year in the future where Charlie and Oliver have now two kids: Milo and a girl, Aria. The relationship between the two siblings is so adorable, it reminded me of Oliver and River.

I loved how, despite all of this, Oliver and Charlie’s relationship didn’t crumble. They still had fun, made fun of each other, had banter, loved each other, and loved their perfect little family.

Quotes:
“I love you. I need you. Just you. Only you.”
“Today. Tomorrow. Always.”

This novella ended the series perfectly. Anything else wouldn’t have done the series justice. 5/5!!

On a side note, the novella left off where Milo met this girl Ainsley, who couldn’t talk. They started communicating in sign language. B. Celeste… if you’re reading this, I kind of need this story now. Like ASAP.

“Today. Tomorrow. Always.”

I love that Ollie and Charlie get their happy ever after. They both deserve it. I also love that Charlie wasn’t automatically healed. Because she got married and had a baby her life was suddenly what she wanted, it didn’t erase her past. Her issues may have been getting better but they were still there. That’s how life works, your demons don’t disappear just because you’re happy. They still come out, maybe not as often, maybe not as intense all the time but they are there.

I think I love Ollie even more after TTAU. He is everything he needed to be for Charlie and it just made my heart happy. He took all of Charlie’s broken pieces and loved and cherished them. He made her feel loved and secure, which is exactly what she needed.

Charlie will always be the girl with demons, but she’s also this string, fierce woman who doesn’t give up. It would have been easier for her to fall apart time and time again, but she didn’t. She fought her way through each and every obstacle and has come out onto. And because of Charlie’s past she is an amazing, caring mother.

Charlie’s pain over having her choices taken away when she was younger made their decision about Milo’s hearing harder for her. My heart hurt for her, and her struggle. I understand her struggle even if it seems crazy, It didn’t matter if the decision is for the better, it’s still a choice she’s taking away from him.

And then there’s Milo at 7. I need him to have a story. He’s going to be something amazing when he gets older.

The Truth about Us is a phenomenal conclusion to Ollie and Charlie’s story. B. Celeste managed to jam pack this novella with all the feels. TTAU is another 5 star read.

Celeste never ceases to amaze me! She is such a fantastic author! She reaches you on such a deep, emotional level... you'll never look at the word the same again! I more than loved this book! It's a novel of Ollie, Charlie, and sweet Milo! It will rip your heart out and have you crying at 2 am! There has never been an author that can open your eyes the way that Celeste does. I love her! She gives you a one of a kind story that you will never forget and the path to get there is unforgettable. Angst, Love, Hope, Terror, I have felt it all so raw and real for these characters. So many people in our world go through so many unimaginable things and the bottom line is you really just never know. Everyone has a story to tell and you just don't know what they have gone through or what they're dealing with. Celeste makes you count your blessings and reflect on everything you are grateful for. Not everyone is lucky, somethings are out of your hands and there is nothing that could have changed the hand you were delt. The unknown is such a vast scary place to find yourself. That feeling that Charlie experiences really steals the breath from your lungs. I loved this read, it melted my heart and I can't wait to read Into the Clear Water!

It was beautiful and heartfelt. The book really dove into the harder aspects of becoming a parent and how much stress and anxiety take over one’s life. I also enjoyed seeing the continuation of Ollie and Charlie’s story.

The Charlie & Ollie Conclusion I needed
*self-purchased on Amazon. No need of sugar daddies called promo teams*

Je suis in heaven after I died because of The Truth About Tomorrow
description

“'Cause we're the masters of our own fate
We're the captains of our own souls
So there's no need for us to hesitate
We're all alone, let's take control.”

Lust For Life – Lana Del Rey

What’s this book about? (I'm trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
Charlie and Ollie found their happiness despite what other people might have thought of them. And now there’s a new addition to the equation, Milo.

This is my second B. Celeste read after reading The Truth About Tomorrow.
This is Charlie and Ollie’s tomorrow and I couldn’t have been happier to read it. If I’m being honest, I expected Milo’s age to be different, but in the end, I adjusted and I loved it anyway. I was thirsty for more Charlie and Ollie. In this story, I was served exactly the feels I needed, maybe even more. This novella was a quick, fun and very emotional read. I finished it in two hours or so, quite the page-turner.
I’m pretty sure if I read The Truth About Heartbreak, I’d be in my feelings even more concerning the bromance between Ollie and Rhett. Since I read Tomorrow yesterday, Ollie and Charlie’s development and their relationship with Milo was of highest importance to me. Charlie as a momma bear was EVERYTHING. Mental issues played a big role once again and I LOVED how it was all handled once again. This author 100% knows what she’s doing if she’s making me root for these two former star-crossed (AGE WHO?) lovers LOL. We didn’t get anything too kinky here (AFTER A PROMISING BEND-OVER IN THE END OF ‘TOMORROW’)and that might be my only issue, however, I’m willing to turn a blind eye since the leads had bigger issues than their horniness in this story.
I was glad to see both leads and how they were doing. I liked how we got to see how these two were behaving AFTER they got what they wanted, including how everyone else behaved around them and their strange union.
I recommend this lovely read to anyone who enjoyed the previous instalments of this series, love an age gap and appreciate a cute new-parent couple that has to endure heart-breaking new-parent struggles.

I really liked this novella. I don’t usually read novellas because they are often too short and not satisfying enough in terms of the content. I disagree with that regarding this one. It was the perfect addition to Charlie and Ollie’s story. They have found happiness together even more now that they’re married and are new parents to their son Milo Brahm James. It was emotional despite it being a novella. Charlie and Ollie are dealing with a struggle some parents don’t have. Charlie is worried for her son, but I love the protectiveness she has as a mother. Ollie is so supportive and remains steadfast in his encouragement when things are difficult.

Besides the new addition of Milo, it was fun to see all the characters from the previous instalments, and you get a feeling of family when it comes to Ollie’s relationship with his dad and things between him and Everett. Everett is much more accepting of Ollie and Charlie’s relationship and is there to support Ollie when he doesn’t feel strong. I loved seeing them interact during a certain scene. It was what I desperately wanted that was missing from The Truth About Tomorrow. Everett and Ollie are moving in the right direction. I loved that Ollie’s dad was there for him as well. It really shows that they care. I teared up more than once.

This novella was perfect. I plan to read Into the Clear Water at some point in the future. However, I’ve heard that the story has somewhat of a love triangle, and I need a break from that trope since I’ve recently read novels that feature them. I’m also curious to see if Milo will get his own romance story since we see an inkling of a friendship between him and someone else in the story. If you loved The Truth About Tomorrow, I guarantee this novella is worthwhile.

Book: The Truth about Us
Author: B. Celeste
Type: Novella
POV: Dual First Person
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Rating: 4 Stars

I love you.
I need you.
Just you.
Only you.

The Truth about Us is everything I didn't know I wanted. It's short. It's sweet. It's emotional. But most of all, it's beautiful and raw. The more I read about Charlie, Ollie and Milo, the more I fell in love with them. Their story is filled with love and joy, fear and heartbreak. It was refreshing to catch up with them. And I absolutely adored Milo. He's such a sweet child. I can't wait to read 'Into the Clear Water' next.

When I get to those moments, the ones I struggle pulling myself from, all I need to remember is this image. The one of the glowing woman with vibrant blond hair, and a tiny blond baby to match. Both smiling. Both pure. Both... mine.

A perfect continuation of Ollie & Charlie!

For months I’ve thought of Ollie & Charlie often! Their story is unique and beautiful, although it was certainly taboo that doesn’t change the fact that I loved it immensely and wanted more of them.
Never in my wildest imagination did I think I’d get it but this little novella by B. Celeste is absolute perfection! The trials and heartbreak along with the joy and love of being with the one you love! Growing stronger together, while facing your fears and all that life throws your way! Absolutely amazing!
Also...so many little crumbs dropped in this novella has me wishing for more from a couple of the characters introduced in this book! Celeste has quickly become one of my favorites. Also she’s definitely a 1-Click author for me and I can’t wait to see what’s next!

****Make sure you read The Truth About Tomorrow before you read this novella; seeing as it’s Ollie & Charlie’s Story! Although The Truth About Tomorrow is a stand-alone there’s also a novel from the same world that was written before it; The Truth About Heartbreak. It’s not required to read Heartbreak before Tomorrow and this novella but it’s highly recommended. All are amazing novels.
