I missed him like crazy. He put everything on the line for our country. Everything including me. I can’t put my life on hold forever. I needed him. I wanted him. but now I need to move on.
She is the only women I have ever loved and the only thing that got me through the hard times when I was away. I’ve been gone a long time but I wont let her go. She is seeing some asshole but he will never be man enough to handle a women like her. I’ll make sure he never gets the chance. I’m back home for good and my wife is going to be mine again.
Back To Her is a super steamy stand-alone romance that is not appropriate for anyone under 18.
DNF...bored out of mind 1/3 of the way through. Sorry, I didn't get why Cora was so harsh and wanted to end things with her husband, Day, so badly. It got to be annoying and I wanted the story to move quicker. It did not and unfortunately, failed to pull me in. A shame because I usually LOVE Niya James books, but this one was boring to me. I *may* come back to it later...or not.
1.0⭐️ The Good I really enjoyed reading about Day, former S.E.A.L., and Cora. The story of their journey was very engrossing. A big plus for me was prominent appearances of all of the major characters from the first book.
The Atrociously Bad I cannot adequately convey my frustration and dismay about the editing problems in this book; they simply overshadowed what should have been a 4* rated book. The content was excellent. I just had to highlight some of the errors throughout the book—run-on sentences, dropped letters on words, extra words, wrong words and homophones, to name a few.
Also, I didn’t find the sexual acts to be all that different from the couple in Book 1–a little more variety would have been preferable.
It grieves me to write such critical reviews, but I’m mad as hell, and books with this level of subpar editing will be rated by me accordingly.
NB: Although no rape occurred in this book, it was alluded to by the “bad guy” many times-that may be a trigger for some. The book is for mature adult readers because of crude, dirty talking outside of and during sexual acts.
This book had a dynamite flow and storyline. Loved the main characters. What saddened me was the sloppy errors. Pronouns were wrong, missing verbs, misspelled words, etc. Whoever was supposed to proofread this story, didn't! It became distracting. Seriously, if you need a proofreader, connect with me. I will help a sister out. Good luck!
Cora and Day had a whirlwind romance and before she could blink they were married. Before she could blink again he was deployed. His deployment was extended, extended again, and extended again. She couldn't do it and sent divorce papers. Day refused to sign them. When he was finally home for good, Cora knew she would stand her ground and get her divorce, she was even dating. Her boyfriend wasn't happy about the slow divorce because until the papers were signed, she would remain faithful to her husband. Day still refused to sign the papers because he wanted Cora to remember what they were to each other and that the could get it back. He was willing to fight for his wife as hard as he fought for his country. When Cora finds one of her patients a victim of a home invasion and tries to save him, he doesn't make it. Her job forces her to take some time off which gives Day an opportunity to whisk her away to Pennsylvania to the home he bought for them. She gives him two weeks to convince her they belong together, and he has her almost sold before they get there. Her patient gave her "something he wanted her to have," as he lay dying and that trouble follows her to Pennsylvania and she doesn't even know it. When Cora goes missing after an argument, will Day be able to find the wife he's fought so hard to keep in time?
Honestly the story is okay. The ending is really rushed and some things just don't make any logical sense, but whatever. The big problem with this book is Day (Dayven). He is a walking dumpster fire. When the book starts Cora has already tried 3 times to get him to sign divorce papers. It's obvious that she is attracted to him but has no desire to be with him anymore. She's even dating someone else. I thought it would be a story of a guy trying to win his wife back because he was deeply in love with her. It wasn't. It was a story of a guy who forced himself on a woman time and again no matter how much she protested. Day's behavior was disgusting. He had zero respect for Cora and never showed even an ounce of care for her wants or needs. All he cares about is having sex with her. It's all he thinks about when we have to read from his perspective. It only gets worse. We see how controlling he is when he forbids her from going to a friend's funeral. He never allows her even a moment of independence. He's supposed to be an alpha male but he's just an a-hole. For the record, it is never sexy when a woman says no and the guy keeps going. This has to stop being romanticized.
Oh my word I was so looking forward to reading about Day and Cora. He had been away from his wife a couple years and was so looking forward to seeing her and being with her again but little did he know how upset she was with him and was really wanting a divorce and move on with her life because she felt he chose work over her.But he wasn't ready to give up without a fight. But of course there has to be drama and something or someone trying to cause problems for them. And then there's a psychopath running loose to make matters worse. She had a chance to meet Andi, Silva Cap and Robby who liked her right away . I really enjoyed this story and now I'm looking forward to reading about Robby I'm sure it's gonna be another great one thanks for sharing!
This is the story of a whirlwind 🌪️ romance between military man ♂️ Dayven and beautiful young Cora. They dated for a week then married and he then was recruited for the special elite division of the Navy Seals and six months turned into 29 months. Cora Royce Blue eyed, cinnamon brown skin and silky black hair. She was raised by her Aunt Latanya both parents deceased. She lived to see Cora and Day aka Dayven married and so he is her only family but she wants a divorce. This story is dramatic and scary and sometimes just funny. A good read by Niya James. Have read some of her books 📚📖 and I really do enjoy them. Get this book it's a Good Read.
This is a hard trope to write and make exciting because of course they are going to stay together (if anyone thinks that's a spoiler then you haven't read enough romance novels). So the romance part got a little repetitive. I also didn't like Day. He says he loves Cora for more than sex but he spends a lot of time thinking about having sex with her. In one scene, he talks about how thoughts of her got him through his time overseas; of course, it's thoughts about her naked, not about her as a person. I liked the suspense/action part of the story much better than the romance part. Overall, I like Niya's books, but this wasn't my favourite.
They only knew each other weeks before they married, and Day went into the military. He was only supposed to be gone for half a year, but it turned into years. Cora was lonely and although she worked as a home health care nurse she longed for her husband. When she had her fill of waiting Cora filed for divorce, but Day refused to sign the papers. Now he is home to pick up the pieces of his marriage and try to start a life with his wife, but someone wants something that a patient had given her and will stop at nothing including death to get it. Can Day keep her safe and out of harm's way? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC off this book for an honest review.
This is the first book from Niya James that I had to give three stars, usually she have 4-5 🌟 books. I think it was the combination of poor editing and the fact that Cora was a huge immature pain in the azz.
I know folks don't agree with readers rating books on editing, but when you have to stop to re-read due to poor grammar or misspelled words it hinders the flow of what should be smooth and easy reading.
I must say the story in the epilogue has my interest. (Searching for that book now.)
I am completely oblivious as to why Cora would not give Day a second chance. She kept saying it's because she couldn't trust him to put her first. He had no history of putting her second, except for not dropping out of the S.E.A.L.S to come running back to her. And after he explained why he wasn't able to just drop everything and run home, she still played around with not forgiving him. It was completely irritating. But eventually the storyline turned good......eventually!
Initially, I did not like Cora. But, when she realized that Dayven (aka Day) really loves her and was always protecting her, etc., she finally stopped fighting her feelings and stopped pushing the divorce papers on him. I was so frustrated and wanted to be the elder Aunt (as if I had a role in the story...LOL) and shake some sense into her! Even her bestie, Becky knew that Day is in love with her. Anyway, it took a lot but I am glad that they have their happy ending and are with the other couple (Silva and Andi) and making their neighborhood a happy family place! Love it!
I really enjoyed Cora and Day's story. The story was interesting with Day being a SEAL in the military and was only suppose to be gone for a short period of time but it really turned out to be way longer. Cora and Day's story is interesting with the boyfriend even though she and Day are married. There is also the issue with one of Cora's patients being murdered. This story was easy and interesting to follow and an enjoyable read.
I loved Cora and Day! Day and Cora's second chance came with a little unknown danger lurking around Cora. Day was total book boyfriend material and Cora was his perfect match. This was a true love story, with a hot S.E.A.L team, some danger, and a whole lot of seduction. I was engaged from the beginning and hated to see it end. I can't wait to see what's in store for the third member of this S.E.A.L. I recommend this book, especially if you need a little heat on a cold rainy day.
Wth Why blue eyes then the author made it a point to always talk about her eyes I'm convinced that this is a white woman trying to write a story about a black woman and failing. She failed to mention very key parts that make up a black woman in the story I'm just very confused and more puzzle more then anything because it's really seem like the main character was a white woman that had some type of tan skin that she did not have none of the Q of a black woman
This book had me on edge for 80% of the story. Poor Day is so lovesick and single minded, I wasn't sure he would be able to accomplish what he does best, protect those he loved. And that man loved him some Cora. I truly enjoyed all the suspense and intrigue. Of course the sex was super hot, once Cora got out of her own way. Woo, my stomach was on edge way too long, but I love this series!
Oh my this is such a thrilling experience to read with suspense and excitement and unforgettable characters. The drama is unbelievable along with the sizzling chemistry between the couple. Their relationship is unique and entertaining it's a fascinating romance that I couldn't put down I really enjoyed every moment of their story. There is so much charisma with the characters you will want to read every book in this series.
This was a very good suspenseful romance with a lot of danger lurking throughout much of the story with no fault of Cora’s own and was a good thing that Day was there to save the day! My only complaint is the editing, but this story was good.
They each could not resist each b other, bit she wanted out of their marriage b because she felt betrayed! She’s asked him the times and each time he refused... he WOULD win her back! They didn’t know there was danger lurking in the shadows which would try and snatch their love, but their love was stronger!!!🦋
I love stories about strong Alpha men. Day was a total Alpha, he was determined to win his wife back. Cora had sent him divorce papers several times but he refused to sign them. He just needed to show her what they had was real. This story had murder, stalking, jealousy, torture, kidnapping, psychopath, and it ended with a near decade blackmail scheme being solved. Plus Cora and Day got their HEA.
A very readable story of the relationship between this couple and their marriage. One party wanted a divorce because Cora felt she wasn't important to her husband, a Navy SEAL. The other party wanted to save the marriage because Day truly loved his wife. There was some life altering drama. This book lost a star because of poor editing.
Enjoyable read. Hot love scenes and great characters. Looking forward to reading Robby's story. Day is hot! Stand alone HEA, could have been 5 stars but there were too many typos.
I really liked Day's character, he was all man. I just felt Cora was a bit too hard-headed and stubborn and look where it got her. But I was glad that he was so persistent and did all he could to woo her back. I voluntarily read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
ARC review For honest review. Raven Royce and cara Royce are married and getting a divorce because of his choice of going into the elIte devision of the navy seals now he's a civilian he wanting her back awesome story
Day and Cora had me from the beginning. Loved Day's determination in getting Cora back. Good story. I received an ARC copy for my review. I enjoyed reading this and can't wait for Robby story also want book one.
I enjoy this author's style of writing, it's different in a nice way. I would class this as romantic suspense. Enjoyable strong characters, looking forward to reading the next in this series.
Loved this story. I would have loved just a little more backstory on this couple. How they met, their time leading up to getting married. A flashback would have been great. Love these protective SEALS and the strong women they love.
I enjoyed reading this book. The spell check is not working in these stories. The characters in the story was so life like I put myself in her place. The action was very dramatic. I really wished they were still in a adventure.
