I'm gonna need Aubree Pynn to get her foot of my reading neck!!!! These books... the raw emotions, the angst, the love... Whew!!!
Samson and Avion went through it!!! I held my breath and my tears reading their story. Add to that Sasha and Thomas' secondary storyline!!! I swear this woman was trying to give me high blood pressure 😩😭😫 Wooosah.
This book was too much and not enough, all at once. The creativity and amazing writing style of Ms. Pynn had me so invested in these characters, I couldn't help but to just feel!!!
PLUS... Samson owns a villa in the #BeautifulByNature Turks and Caicos Islands!!! #MyIslandHome. I had to make this one a #BeachReadTCI to show those views they mentioned in the book. It was a wrap after that!!!
Whew if this book wasnt my life in 2019 idk what it is
I could relate to Avion with the loss of a grandparent who meant so much to you as well as suffering a miscarriage. Both have happened to me this year and I felt everything she was feeling because I'm still dealing with it myself. Only difference is that God placed a man like Samson and friends like Sasha and Thomas in her life to be what she needed to get through those tough times. Samson is a man that only God himself could have crafted and I need God to craft me a Samson too. Preston's entitled ass pissed me off. He is the example of what's wrong with this new generation now. Thomas and Sasha were everything too because they met their match in one another but were amazing friends to Samson and Avion. This book was right on time for me!!
Woo this book was so good! Had me chuckling, smiling, gasping, cussing, laughing and clutching my pearls! I went through so many emotions as if I was apart of the story, I was fully immersed and invested.
Now that’s some good writing!
Avion carried the burden that so many black women carry, me included. She was sister, granddaughter, provider, nurturer, caregiver, cook, cleaner, advisor, encourager, decision maker, and more. So many hats she wore, so many eggs in her basket, so many plates to juggle, but somehow she didn’t drop any of them. No time to stop, think, feel or just be. Little snippets of moments or time she could eek out for herself barely gave her a chance to inhale and exhale before getting back to life as she knew it. Samson was the strength, peace and help that she needed but it wasn’t an easy road to recognize then accept him for all those things. No matter how persistent he was in his pursuit of her, how consistent he was in his actions towards her, how much his intent was stated to her, it was still hard for her to allow him to love her. He was a man of means, no games, grown grown. He said what he meant and meant what he said. He needed peace, a sense of home, a warm place of rest, a person to do life with and he recognized that Avion was all these things for him.
Add her best friend Sasha who had been hurt a time too many who decided to finesse and play men at their own game and his best friend Thomas who was a player who met the right one to play with in Sasha. These two were a good example of catching feelings.
My fav quote: “Listen, what is for us will always be for us. This is our cross to carry. Our cross. Not yours alone. Ours. Stop carrying the world on your shoulders.”
In this story Aubree took us on a ride with two couples, Avion and Samson and Thomas and Sasha. They met one night at a club and Avion and Samson hooked up, but Avion got scared and ran off. Samson made it his mission to find her again because he wanted her, but he didn't know her real name. Thomas and Sasha exchanged numbers and talked to each other and went out on a date, but Thomas didnt know her real name either. Avion and Samson ran into each other one day and the rest was history. He showed her how he felt about her and she finally gave in and they became a couple. Sasha gave Thomas a hard time and just wouldnt give in like she wanted to. One year later and we see that Avion and Samson are married and Sasha and Thomas are not together. This story had its ups and downs and twists and turns that I was not expected. Avion and Samson went through loss, secrets being revealed and having trouble in their marriage, but because their love was so strong for each other, it all worked out. Sasha finally gave in to Thomas and they finally became a couple. I loved this story so much. I always want to know what happens when a couple gets married and Aubree showed us that it isn't always easy, but with love and communication it can work!!! I always love your work Aubree and this has become my favorite book from you to date!!!
Samson and Avion's romance was one for the books literally. They went through a lot to get to their happily ever after. The women of Samson's past was determined to get him or destroy what he knew was his forever. I loved how he made sure that they love endured through it all. Samson was a stand-up man because he stepped right in and started to help Avion when he found out she was a full-time caregiver for her grandfather and "mother" to her brother. She had the whole household on her shoulders and she was managing but it was taking a toll on her. Her one night of letting loose or "fun" turned into her meeting the love of her life. I was a little sad that they lost two babies though. I was hoping by the end of the book they had a thriving pregnancy. Adam came in the picture and they both accepted him. He was the blessing they did not realize they needed.
Great read, I would definitely recommend this book to a friend. I would recommend Mrs. Pynn to a friend her books are always on point. I like how she also slide in Sasha and Thomas's love story as well. They were literally made for each other because they had the same mentality about "situationships" until they fell head over heels in love. I will be looking forward to the next read.
I love it when a story throws me all the way off my throne. I was not expecting this story and I wasn't prepared for the magnitude of how much the men Loved the women in this story. From playas to dang near perfection. I wasn't ready.I need more from both couples Ms. Pynn😊
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was such a breath of fresh air. It showcased real issues and proved when you love someone you will truly do anything for them and love them through any storm.
This was a great story. When Samson first met Avi I thought about Usher's song "Love In This Club." I'm was getting those kind of vibes. With Avi being the strong one, the glue, she had to keep everything together. Doing anything otherwise would mean that she failed, and she wasn't going to accept defeat. It's only so much a person can take before they break. That's why it's important to check on your strong friends. Samson loved her, though. In spite of, he loved her like he's never loved before. She was his Ifemi - his love, his missing piece and it showed. Thomas and Sasha were a whole mess. I felt like Uncle Charlie when he said, "You can't keep running in and out of my life." Those two were playing tag like big kids. When you're used to being *hitted on you tend to draw back. You never want to experience that kind of hurt again. Thomas made a believer out of her though while changing his own *orish ways. "He broke it. I know its broken. My stuff I'd broken!" So Sasha's moo moo is broken, and Avi's moo moo is running marathons. What is going on in the world today. Sounds like Thomas and Samson have platinum tools. That moment when Samson said, "I wonder if I pull one of your loose threads would you unravel?" the flood gates open wide lol. I'm so for real. That man is going to give me a heart attack. You can't stop a man on a mission though because love said so.
I went into Because Love Said So with no expectations, and honestly, that may have been the best way to experience this story.
At its core, this is a slow-burn romance, but it’s layered with multiple relationships that bring different perspectives on love, commitment, and emotional growth. Samson and Avion’s story carried a lot of weight for me—I felt every moment of tension, every setback, and every ounce of vulnerability between them.
But what really added to the experience was the secondary storyline with Sasha and Thomas. Their dynamic introduced another level of complexity that made the story feel fuller, even if at times it felt like a lot to process all at once.
That’s probably my biggest takeaway: this book felt like too much and not enough at the same time. There was so much happening emotionally, but I also found myself wanting more time with certain moments—especially toward the end. The “year later” portion felt rushed, and I would have loved a more gradual resolution after everything the characters endured.
That said, Aubrée Pynn has a writing style that pulls you in and makes you care deeply about her characters. I was fully invested, emotionally engaged, and honestly a little stressed—in a good way.
I thought this was going to be a cute, simple love story—and it was at first. But that second act? Whew, it took them through it. The storms and thunder hit hard, especially for Avion. Samson, though, is a man in every sense of the word. From their first meeting he knew he wanted her, and he pursued her with nothing but intention and persistence. I love a man who knows what he wants and never wavers, no matter what obstacles come their way.
Avion was so relatable. I saw myself in her struggles and insecurities, and I loved that she had Samson to lean on—to be her voice of reason when she couldn’t quiet the doubts in her head.
And it wasn’t just Samson and Avion’s story. Their best friends, Thomas and Sasha, brought so much to the book. Both were skilled players in their own right, and while Sasha was scared to fall in love again, once Thomas locked in, quitting was never an option. It made perfect sense why he and Samson were friends.
I am quickly becoming an Aubree Pynn fan, and I cannot wait to dive deeper into her catalog.
Whew.. this book took me on a whirlwind. My emotions were all over the place with Avion...sis had me so stressed out with her stubbornness but Samson loved her. Lol. This love story was a breath of fresh air. These two had an instant connection but Ms. Avion came up with every excuse on earth and was running from Samson. Chile.. ☹️Samson was the man!! My man fell so hard for Avion and he didn’t care what leaps and bounds he had to go through to get his woman. I liked the flow of this one and the fact that this love story wasn’t all peaches and creams. There were some pleasant surprises that made me love Samson’s character even more.. another thing that I loved was the bonus of Sasha and Thomas. Every woman needs a Sasha as a friend. Very good love story!! ❤️
Samson make me wanna go ahead and jot down my wedding vows. I mean if I could marry a book character he would be my forever. Avi....I loved Avi and she went through a lot but she ran a lil too much. Bae got her right each and every time. I know I say this all the time but my Aubree always, and I do mean always come through. I don't care what I'm reading or how tired I am, it's a wrap when she drops. Her talent is so raw and she's cut different than the bulk of the urban lit world. Always remaining true to herself while never disappointing her readers. FOOT TO NECKS FROM NOW UNTIL THE WORDS STOP!!!!! I'm definitely going to be on the journey. Stop sleeping on bae!!!!
Whew chile!! This book took me an a emotional ride definitely had me shedding a few tears midst the laughter. This title was focused on two couples who happened to be best friends. Samson and Avion's attraction was almost instant. Avi was the backbone for her family but when he stepped in he wanted nothing but to lessen her load. Their journey came with alot battles and curveballs they had to face but with the right amount of love, patience and communication they were able to weather the storms and become stronger. There was nothing Sasha love more than the thrill of being chased and Thomas lived for that. With them being best friends to Samson and Avi the inevitable was bound to happen. In the end Love Conquered Everything.
For an urban fiction, I enjoyed this. I found Samson's desire for a wife very refreshing and healthy. I do not think that he should have been obsessed with Avi right away, but I was happy to see that he was not a womanizer. Avi's passion for taking care of her family was heartwarming, and she deserved the world. I just wish there was more plot. Time was jumping, and there was a lack of detail. We as the reader just fills in the blanks. Aubree Pynn is a good author, but some of the ideas and "sayings" (i.e knock her head off) were very repetitive, and his pet name for Avi was just cringe. I hated every time I had to read it. Nonetheless, this was a good book to get me out of my reading slump.
Just..whew...! Grief is such a powerful emotion that we all handle so differently. Poor Avi just broke down and pushed ever one away. Didn't help that Samson made stupid choices, thinking he was protecting her. Fear of commitment, and terrified of being hurt had a stronghold on Sasha. She and Thomas, lifetime players were bitten with the love bug; and didn't know how to handle it. After ignoring their feelings, they finally gave it a go. This story touched on so many important life themes. Life, death, loss, fear, love and redemption. Great story telling! 👍👍👍
So this is my first read by Ms. Pynn and I’m floored. I literally started reading on my morning commute yesterday and read through my lunch break on my commute home and woke up in the middle of the night with Samson and Avi on my mind. In my wildest dreams this type of love exist and the author put on paper. A I got the love of a lifetime and Sam put his heart on his sleeved and through actions showed how every man should love the woman God deemed his for life. I will definitely enjoy checking out some more of this author’s catalog and brace myself for little to sleep if her other works are anything Locke a Because Love Said So
These couples prove that you can find love in a club. Once Samson found Avion again, he doesn't let go. He listens to his heart and to love and vows to be their for her. Avion is used to being the strong one and being everything else for everybody. She really has a hard time accepting that Samson just wants her and to be everything for her. I love that they some seeds into each other and even through the rough patch, love remain supreme.
Sasha and Thomas met their match with each other. What they could get away with with other people, they couldn't with each other. They find a way into each other's heart and love took over, despite their fighting it.
Wow! While this story focuses on a slow burn love story between Samson and Avion, it also looks at the pairing of two heartbreakers, Sasha and Thomas who could no longer deny that love was their endgame. There was so much going on in the story and I enjoyed the ride. I wished it could have ended before the "year later" portion because that's when the story starts to unravel and the ending felt rushed. This book would have been worth a series to explore Sasha and Thomas situation as well as watching how two people can grow in a marriage despite ups and downs. I am a fan of Aubreé 's works, no matter what.
Whew chile Samson was the man! Although he made some mistakes as we all do, he made it right in the end for Avion. My heart went out to her as she dealt with the frustration of having 2 miscarriages...what a tear jerker!! I’m so glad she did find her happiness in the end but I was so hoping that they had a beautiful baby in the end. Maybe Mrs. Pynn will see fit to bless us with some more of Samson and Avion(hint hint)! Overall, this was such a good love story that made you want to cry and get mushy all at the same time! Job well done Aubree!!
This book was everything. Ms. Pynn did an excellent job drawing me in as a reader. The characters developed nicely throughout the book. I'm a hopeless romantic and this book gave me exactly what I needed. I must say that Samson is bae. He knows what he wants and goes after it. Avion was so loving and nurturing. Everything that she lost was so devastating because she deserved so much, but Samson was there every step of the way. I hope to hear more for those two. I would love to see what the future holds for them. Ms. Pynn, you did that!
I believe this is my first book from this author and I was not disappointed. I loved everything about Samson and how determined he was to be everything Avi needed. I loved how Avi took care of her family. Watching them fall in love had me swooning. Not gonna lie, I did shed a tear or two while reading this book. And even though they weren't the main focus, I liked seeing Sasha and Thomas' story play out. I am definitely interested in reading more from this author and would recommend this book to anybody.
This was some kind of story. I really loved this and to see everyone be able to have a happy ending was great. They all deserved to find someone who truly could bring them happiness. I wish I could find me someone special like Samson but whose to know if there really is any men who have his qualities. Ava was a gem and its sad thats she went through so much heartaches but Samson never left her side at all. Wish this could have been another part but it was still an amazing story.
The book gained the five stars. Unfortunately, however, the editing or lack thereof took away a half point from the score. It was refreshing to experience the maturity of the characters through all the drama. I appreciated the way the story was developed, there was a realness to it that I could relate to. The snippets of wisdom disbursed throughout was also a plus. It's an art to bring a book together with strong character development and a solid storyline so kudos to the author! I am going to check out more of her work for sure.
This was such a roller coaster ride. So much happened in a short amount of time. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Avion and Sampson. I was rooting for them to get their happily ever after. Sampson was the perfect leading man. I could read about him all day. The relationships they shared with their grandparents was incredibly touching and relatable. I could’ve done with less of Thomas and Sasha. They both read like exaggerated stereotypes. Other than that, this was a really solid read.
Wow this book brought out every emotion possible. I've read all of Aubree's book but this one is my favorite. My frozen heart started to thaw out thanks to Samson. He was perfect somewhat too prefect. I connected with Avi and understood the battle within herself. I'm glad Avi gave love a chance because love said so. Can't wait to read more from one of my favorite authors.
This is my favorite book by you so far. Avion has been through so much in her life. When Samson came into her life he made her realize that she doesn't have to do it all by herself. Samson really love Avion. I was happy they got married. I love how you showed what marriage is all about love and communication. I was very sad about Avi having these miscarriages. I am hoping we get a book on Thomas and Sasha. This book was so good.
Avion and Samson story is wonderful. Avion is a hard-working young lady whose only thoughts are to take care of family. One night out with her best friend Sasha changes everything. Samson knows there's something special about this lady who just wants to have fun for one night. I love how the story was written. I enjoyed the supporting characters in the book. Samson knew Avion was the love of his life and he did everything to make her his.
The book was enjoyable enough but I had 2 issues. One, Samson's violent tendencies toward women. He never did anything but he had some strong feelings about putting his hands on them. Two, I suffer from infertility so I completely understand Avi's hurt over the son. I feel like Samson agreeing to the weekend with the boy so soon was insensitive. He was a good dude overall but those are two heavy issues to tackle with the same character.
