Spell's Angels #3

No Crone Unturned

Rate this book
Scout Randall is on the verge of getting information about her past. Patience has never been one of her virtues, though. As she’s waiting for her source to get settled, a new problem arises… and it has fangs.

When she was a kid, a chance encounter in a park left Scout questioning the existence of monsters. Now, one of those potential monsters is back… and he’s taken up residence in Hawthorne Hollow. He isn’t alone either.

Vampires are on the prowl and it’s up to the Spell’s Angels to figure out what they want and eradicate them through any means necessary. That’s easier said than done, though.

Scout can’t shake the feeling that something bigger than the obvious is happening, and when her boyfriend’s close friend is infected, she realizes she has to increase her efforts if she wants to save as many people as possible.

One vampire is deadly. A nest, though? That can be catastrophic. In this particular case, the head vampire trying to infiltrate Hawthorne Hollow has a plan… and it involves turning as many people as possible.

It’s a race against time. Scout has to keep those closest to her safe while expanding her search for answers. In the end, she might get more than she bargained for on both fronts… if she can survive long enough to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail.
Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.

I love Scout

This story line just keeps getting better. No resolution on Scott's past, but little nuggets keep getting dropped into the storyline.

Another great one
So the beginning starts off with a flashback from when Scout was in the foster system and she was trying to make it back to the group home before she was locked out when she noticed a small man hiding behind the bushes and when he wasn't able to fool her there was a vampire that came out and was scolding the small man because he couldn't get ahold of Scout.
So flash forward to now. Gunner and Scout are placed in the middle of a murder investigation when Gunner's best friends girlfriend is found murdered by a vampire. So they must work with the team to investigate and get rid of thier vampire problem before the vampire take over thier town killing the people they know and love.
I’ve always enjoyed Amanda Lee's books and this one was no different! I do have to say I adored the minion he was just way too funny!! Lol

4 Stars... Overall this was another enjoyable read by Amanda Lee... Her use of wit and humor always makes her books a must read for me... Scout and Gunner compliment one another yet contrast one another perfectly adding just the right amount of heat into their relationship... For me, however, this one did not seem to add to the overall storyline of Scout's past and her true nature... I found it to be a bit slow in it's development and then the ending seemed almost too easy to solve... There were some cliffhangers in the mysterious Emma and her connection to Scout, but it would have been more interesting if that character appeared earlier in the read... Still, I am intrigued to some of the secrets still presenting and look forward to the unveiling of those answers:)

4 Star review of No Crone Unturned (A Spell's Angels Cozy Mystery, Book 3) by Amanda M Lee
Audio Review:

Amanda M Lee is a new author to me and why that is I have no idea. From the first to the last chapter I was fully invested in Scout Randall her investigation. It’s a cozy mystery and one that I found thoroughly entertaining.

The narrator Meghan Kelly did a great job and I thoroughly enjoyed the voices she used as she brought the story to life for me.

This was a a book filled with secrets, lies, mystery and suspense with plenty of clues to satisfy my detective spirit and I was on the edge of my seat as I listened to this story.

Thoroughly enjoyable!

I love Scout’s mix of sass, strength, and vulnerability. Her banter with Gunner keeps me reading. The story was a little slow in this book for me, but that’s not stopping me from coming back for more! Loved that it ended with an enticement that we may learn more about “children of the stars” in the next book. I’m wondering if Charlie Rhodes and Scout are related??? Time will tell!

Mama Moon needs her own series

I haven’t quite got the feel for this group yet. I enjoy the story line but I’m still getting a feel for the characterS. I really love mama moon she is by far my favorite. All the other characters throw me for loop like compared to scout the rest of the spells angels seem kind of useless like does anyone else have any power? I like that she is so powerful but it seems like no one else even tries to help. Scout is a wonderful strong female but she seems to overpower everyone like I would still like her to kick butt and take names but maybe someone else could do something like does rooster leader of group have any power?! Okay enough with my tangent I usually get the lay of book quickly and this one is keeping me on my toes. I thought it was going in so many different directions. And it ended with a unexpected turn. I really like when I can’t guess the end of a mystery

This book felt different. While I admire the author's work ethic, she churns out those book like crazy, you can start to see it as books continue in a series. You can see the strain. She starts to lose track of what she's "said" in previous books. There are inconsistencies and continuity issues.

An example is Scout's extreme OCD. The author made a huge deal about it in previous books. So much so that Scout seemed nuts, she wouldn't even kiss without brushing her teeth and Gunner brushing his teeth. Yet in this book, they're kissing without a care in the world for morning breath. Nowhere was it explained that Scout got over this crazy hang-up, nope, it just vanished. POOF! As if it wasn't a massive part of book 2....sigh.

This book suffered because of those inconsistencies and continuity issues.

Scout's personality is changing. She's starting to morph into all the other characters in this author's books. She was once unique, she's almost interchangeable now. I am not happy.

Also, what's the point of having a supernatural agency like Spell's Angels if it's only Scout doing thing? The organization should be called Scout's Inept Angels. Shifters who never shift. Witches who never do magic. Scout is a one woman show and it's annoying. I want to see the others do things!

I won't be reading further in this series. I'm mad, irritated, and frustrated that nothing has been shown about what/who Scout is or her past. This is book 3 and we barely know anything about her.

It seems like every single book ends the same way. No resolution about her past. Bad guys get away. Nothing shared about her past. Meaningless hints dropped about something that might happen in the next book. We already know by now that NOTHING will happen in the next book. It's a red herring and I'm done.

Awesome as usual!

This is for you, Amanda M. Lee. When I look over my library full of your books 📚it makes me smile knowing that at the end of a craptastic day, I can climb into a comfy chair and jump into one of your stories.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving me (and many others) some joy during this horrific pandemic, making "shelter in place" much more bearable. I will be forever grateful.

An enemy from Scouts last turns up in town.

Just before Scout was about to turn 18 and leave the group home she was living in She ran into a peculiar man who was hiding in the bushes up to no good, he wasn't alone but it wasn't till after she got away she realised the other man with him was actually a vampire. At eighteen Scout was not equipped to deal with a vampire now ten years later she runs into the same funny looking man living in a dilapidated house on the outskirts of town. If he's here so is the vampire, if Gunnar, Scout and the rest of the Spells Angels are unlucky he isn't alone which means they may be dealing with a nest of vampires. A best is difficult to deal with especially when Scout is the only team member with any expressing with vampires so this battle is all on her, good job Scout is up for it. One of the problems Scout encounters with every enemy she encounters is that they seem to know secrets about her past that she herself doesn't. This time is no different, the vampire Armand and his people keep referring to Scout as one of the Children of the Stars. Scout would love to know what and who these people are but nobody seems inclined to share their secrets. Scouts a great character and this has all the ingredients of a good story that Ms Lee has become famous for.

I think this is my favorite series

I love the content Ms. Lee writes, but I think this is my favorite series . I really enjoy the world and characters she has created. Scout is a kick ads take no names harass with a heart as big as can be. I love how she created Scout to know how to do things in her own and no need to depend on others. However, she does lean on others, but she doesn't have to. Great story and I look forward to more.

A new favorite series

Another great series from Amanda M Lee! Scout and Gunner and the rest of the Spell’s Angels are continuing to develop as a team, learning about each other and how to work together. The characters are fun as they interact and I laugh out loud at the back and forth. And the growing relationship between Scout and Gunner is fun to see. This is fast becoming one of my favorite series - and I love all of Ms Lee’s books!

The vampires are moving in and the team has to determine how to take them down before they take over. It’s not usual when Scout finds she needs to ask for help - I really enjoyed seeing her grow in her relationships with Gunner and her team. They are all great together - I’m really looking forward to Scout learning more about her past and the adventures to come.

Scouts story is beginning to take shape...

I like Scout a lot. She isn't my absolute favorite of the Amanda/Lilly kickass chick squad but she is good. I want to know so much more about her and the suspense is killing me... I liked the small hints dropped in this book but really am hoping for a little more the next one! Her relationship with Gunner is in the gooey faze and that's fun but I love when it hits the sarcastic banter faze more. I am missing the best friend aspect of the story like all the others have and I hope she develops a friendship that is lasting and is beyond her romantic relationship. She seems so independent but also it comes across lonely and sad, and much less girl power than the others.

Scout is totally bad to the bone

Great addition to the series. Hawthorne Hallow is definitely a mechanical for trouble and more seems to be on the way. Looking forward to learning more about Scouts past. In this book Scout and Gunner have their first big fight. They are both learning about one another and learning how to be in a relationship. A nest of vampires are collecting in town, trying to gain control. They made a huge mistake going after a friend of the group. The gang will have to work together and trust Scout and her powerhouse of power to get them through this and save half the town. Funny and exciting.

Super enjoyable.

I really like Scout. This was a great book. She got a couple of answers and more questions. There were some comments about other series' characters. I can barely wait for the crossover, I'm so excited to see where it leads. A new character was introduced and she looks to be future trouble.

There seems to be a theme of vampires in this author's other series too and I can't help but think they will the into the crossover.

Amanda M Lee books and her Lily Harper Hart books are highly recommended.
No graphic sexual content. There is sex occurring off scene. Some violence no big language.

Another enjoyable addition

I like Scout and her relationship with the Spells Angels. This story ties an encounter from Scout's past to current events in Hawthorne Hollow. Gunner and Scout have gotten close. The danger is close to home as Gunner's best friend is at risk. The crisis escalates and Scout must find a way to eliminate the enemy before the entire town is impacted. I am enjoying the series. There is not any forward movement on the mystery of Scout's past. However there are two characters introduced at the end of this book that may provide more details in the next book. I enjoyed the book.

Scout isn't going to back down..

.. even when she's facing off a nest of vampires, half the town and a magical barrier she can't attack through.

Determined not to harm the innocent people who have been half turned she knows that if she can take out the master vampire it will cure them. Having fire magic helps as it's not leaving any chance of re-resurrection. But how's she going to achieve it with a magical barrier and her friends captured and sitting in the danger zone?

Leave it to Scout.

Awesome supernatural cozy mystery series

Awesome supernatural cozy mystery series. An awesome cast of characters and an extraordinarily entertaining storyline. A group of bikers who fight supernatural creatures. Spells angels yes exactly what it sounds like. They go out and find supernatural evil doers and dispatch them. Follow along as they fight evil and keep their small town and county safe. A very entertaining storyline with a quirky group of characters and the perfect amount of Snark and sarcastic wit. Check it out

Another great read!

I love this series by one of my favorite authors! The mystery is always satisfying and wrapped up by the end of the book. There are some sub plots and background stories that develop from book to book, so I recommend reading the series in order. If you enjoy heaps of snark and sarcasm, tough female characters, romance, and villains you'll love to hate them you'll enjoy this series!

Third in the series and I’m loving it, the Spell’s Angels is growing, I love that it’s centred in a small town but a powerfully magical town there is so much paranormal potential for future stories.
I love Scout and Gunner, honestly I like all the character they each have their own space in the stories and they all work well together.
I liked the vampire side and that it let out a bit more about Scouts past I can’t wait for more.

Another awesome installment

I love everything Amanda M Lee writes and when I know any book of hers is coming out, I count down the days! I’m just sad when I finish it! This was the best one of this series so far! Scout is a badass and I love the bantering with all the characters. I always think...I wish I could talk like that! I love her and Gunner together and I can’t wait to see what her past reveals and what she is truly capable of with her magic!

And she does it again

I'm constantly in awe of how this author can produce so many great series with such unique characters and plot lines but she does it...this was just another great addition to this series as we see Scout and Gunner continue to develop as characters and a couple and we get closer to finding out what being a child of the stars actually means...

Fun but nothing special

This was a fun ok story. It didn’t pull me in like some other works by Lee. Maybe the whole concept of a biker gang of paranormal fighters is too out there. I still don’t understand what many, almost all of them, bring to the table. Most aren’t shifters or magical. How can basic humans fight, unless they are just cannon fodder, and wouldn’t they realize that and want a better way to protect themselves?

The entire Scout and Gunner relationship gets too be too much as well. I can’t see to alpha loner type characters suddenly changing their personalities to be what they are now.

The vampires were interesting and obviously the Honey storyline and Emmeline ones will play out further down the line. It does get annoying and boring though regarding Scout and her past. Just deal with it and move the story forward. This constant little tidbit here and one in another book, just drags out a storyline needlessly.

The series could use some character rewrites and development. It’s starting to feel each book is exactly the same as the previous one, with a small variant of who or what is the villain. The bitchiness of the female who wants to date Gunner, though she never had a chance, the kid, Raisin, who constantly just walks into the bar, blah, blah, blah. Change them into something worthwhile to read about. If nothing else, characters that grow. They don’t have to be perfect, but at least get better over time, instead of the constant of doing the same imperfect act, over and over.

The author complains about the Kardashians and other emotionless and moronic things in the world and the people who canonize them. Many of her own characters are the same and have the lack of cognizance of self that she complains of regarding reality TV and their ilk. I happen to agree there is too much of that in the world, and we should start teaching people how to spot truth versus opinion classes, as well as critical thinking. Maybe the author can help with that by having characters who grow, develop and become better people, instead of sniping about all that is wrong with those areas.

Love this addition. In some ways, each book gets better and better. For me, the humor was top notch this book: of course I love sarcastic humor -
“There’s no easy way to say this, so I’m just going to lay it out for you. Honey Martelle is gone.”
I blinked Several times in rapid succession and drank my coffee, confused. “Did you think she was just faking it or something?”
The sigh Graham let loose was a sign of extreme exasperation. “I mean her body is gone. From the morgue.”
I laughed the entire book at one time or another. The section where Scout was explaining her abduction of Bixby and the dead body to Graham was high comedy lol. I thought the story was really good this time, the vamps were the best enemy so far and we learned new things- such as the hidden paranormal bar. I also thought it really set up the next book well as one source of information of Scout's past is ready to talk and another emerged. I am really excited to read the next book.
With that being said, there are things that are beginning to grate. Her team is useless, they never do anything of note, shifters don’t shift, no one else does anything magical or anything at all really. The only other things we have seen, which isn’t much, came from Villains and yet her team are always either trying to tell her what do when they are clearly lesser than her in ability and knowledge or judging her in some way and assuming the worst. In addition, they don’t practice what they preach when it comes to themselves, like sharing info (rain), safety concerns, etc. I understand why the author would do some of this, you need character growth, I get it, but by book 3 it has started to annoy me. Move the development along please and have her team do something other than making orders, complaints, or being over protective and judgmental. They are paranormal fighting group,,,,, so fight.
I do love the series, and this author, please don't think I do not, but the Spell's Angel's are not impressive lol.

Scout is bothered by the feeling of someone is watching her and Marissa when they finished taking care of the monster. Scout attention is caught on an abandoned house on the hill. Scout and Gunner decide to go take a look around. She sees someone from her past and he tries to play it off. The sheriff shows Scout and Gunner a murder victim. Gunner know who the person is, he use to date her. Scout and Gunner find out his best friend Brandon has been seeing her. They learn that their is a vampire and people that he follows . Things turn for the worst as one of their friends takes a turn. Scout can't break through the magic that is there.

This was a great read. You have Scout learning more about her powers by accident. She has to learn how to be in relationship and work as a team member. There seems to be others that know about her and her magic. The ending is really good. Can't wait to read the next one.

Not very mysterious

I think calling this a "mystery" is wrong. It's romantic fantasy with an overpowered protagonist with no formal training and emotional issues. That's okay, because her boyfriend has his own issues. I don't even know what the mystery is supposed to be in this book. There's a murder, but it takes Scout less than 24 hours to figure that out. Exacting justice is the tricky part.

The Spells Angels could be a found family for Scout, as it definitely is for Gunnar, but she's so used to being independent that it doesn't work that way yet.

Scout has a tendency to charge off and try to solve problems on her own, which generally works for her because she's so powerful. That leaves other characters less defined, and keeps the stakes low. Despite that, I enjoy the humor in these books and look forward to learning more about her destiny.

Need a Good Laugh or 20?

OMG, the scenes from when Scout captures the “minion” and his ensuing “torture” nearly had me falling off the bed in laughter. I literally was wiping away tears for pages. Amanda Lee is not only a good writer (yay and she comes with an editor too), she’s SO darn funny ! I am a new fan.

Right now we have had months of a pandemic, we don’t go out anywhere, the political and environmental scene is dire and the best female Supreme Court Justice just passed..it is such a dark, dark time I can’t bring myself to watch the news or read about it. This series has been a wonderful place to escape to; I am thoroughly enjoying great snarky dialogue, lots of magic, plot twisting mysteries, fun characters (good and bad) plus totally cool Harleys.

No Crone Unturned is Book 3 in the Spell's Angels Series. What a great book!!!
Vampires are invading the town and Scout and Gunner along with the Spell's Angels have their hands full! These are some strong vampires and when Gunner's best friend gets involved all heck breaks loose!

Another great story in this series that I loved. I love the relationship and bonding between Scout and Gunner . Mama Moon is definitely my favorite secondary character.

We learn a little more about Scout's past as her story is slowly revealed.

Perfectly paced, a wonderful story, I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

Who Are The New Neighbors?

Scout and Gunner are back to protecting Hawthorn Hallows like usual but something unusual is up with the new people who have moved into the old warn down house on the hill in town. Something just doesn’t feel right and Scout is determined to find out what it is. And when they find a young women dead with a lot of blood around her neck, Scout has a pretty good idea what it is they’re up against, but if you dear reader wish to find all the answers to these questions and more, then I recommend you get this book and read it to your full delight, I know you won’t regret it;)
