There’s not much Chrissy Davenport loves more than the small town of Heirloom Point in the midst of the Christmas season. The annual wreath auction kicks off the holiday, and even though this year’s winning wreath is lackluster, Chrissy still hangs it on her candle shop’s door with pride. But she can’t explain the handwritten notes that begin to show up, tucked neatly into the sprigs of greenery. And she can’t make sense of the memories they bring back—ones she’s tried hard to forget. After a career ending injury, hockey superstar Nick McHenry has no other choice than to return to his hometown of Heirloom Point. But things aren’t easy with his high school sweetheart working in the candle shop directly across from his parents’ hardware store. And it’s even harder to ignore the town chatter regarding his failed career and failed past relationship. Suddenly, he’s reliving the Christmas traditions he thought he’d left behind, and revisiting old feelings he figured were long gone. Will Nick and Chrissy discover that some Christmas heirlooms aren’t actual things, but the people who make up those nostalgic memories? Or are memories better left in the past where they were made? An Heirloom Christmas is a heartwarming romance filled with second chances, hometown traditions, and the magical promise of the holiday season.
This is a new author to me and I enjoyed her writing voice. The story was wonderful with a sweet romance rekindled. The characters were lovable and the small-town ambiance appealing.
This was a charming Christmas story that would make a PERFECT Hallmark Christmas movie!! It’s sweet story of love lost and found a decade later when a Hockey star returns home to his roots...and maybe the girl he left behind? The town of Heirloom Point is an adorable small town and the characters that make up the town are delightful. The story moves well and was a joy to read. It’s a quick, easy, read that is sure to make you smile and get you in the Christmas spirit. It certainly did me! Recommended!
I received this book from the author and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
I wanted to like this book- loved the setting and the premise but it was just awful. So so cheesy and not in a heart warming and fun way. And the suspense it tries to create is pretty lame. The story just felt pointless and had no real arc or climax. Disappointing to say the least.
I am very into cheesy, holiday-themed stories, and this definitely fits the bill. However, when the male protagonist cannot go more than two sentences without saying the female protagonist’s name ... it gets annoying. Like, you’re the only two in the room. You can just say a sentence that doesn’t start with her name. 🙄
A true love story. This novel was really cute. I liked every part of it. At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about it. But I’m glad I read it. It was a good comfort read
Are you a fan of small-town romances and second chance stories? Then this one might be right up your alley. Megan Squires writes such sweet and wholesome stories and this was not a disappointment at all. I won a Kindle copy by a giveaway hosted by the author herself. ⠀ And Heirloom Christmas was such an adorable Christmas read, a sweet love story of love lost and found a decade later when a Hockey Star returns home. It was a very quick and easy read and every page was sprinkled with Christmas magic. I had a genuine smile on my face the entire time while I was reading. The wreath auctions, charity programs, secret notes, Christmas game and dance- did wonders to the magical ambiance. ⠀ All the characters were absolutely delightful to read, very relatable and real that you can’t help but root for them. It was amazing to read about their love for each other and for their town. ⠀ This second chance story full of fun, traditions, family and community will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. Moreover, it’s the holiday season you guys. This book is perfect for snuggling up under blankets with a hot drink. I highly recommend it.

Megan Squires has become one of my favorite authors! This sweet Christmas romance is the perfect start to get you in the holiday spirit. I loved everything about the book from the small-town setting to the rekindled friendship between Nick & Chrissy. The cover fits perfectly with the story, so you need to read it for yourself to find out why.
Another sweet novel by Megan. This one was such a treasure and the perfect Christmas read! I found myself wrapped up in the nostalgic town and sweet love story until the very end!! And smelling the candle that goes along with this book was the perfect addition, I would light it with each read - not a detail was missed.
Short read about 240 pages. I “cut my teeth” as Sarah Maclean says on Fated Mates, on Christmas romances. When I began reading the genre, sweet Christmas romance was where I started so reading An Heirloom Christmas felt like a nod to those early days of devouring sweet small town Christmas romance novels. I’ve had this book on my shelf for years. So happy I finally picked it up. It’s a second chance romance and totally delivered on the feels of Christmas.
This was a charming novella from a new-to-me author. I really enjoyed the characters and the feel of the small town made me want to find one just like it for me to hang out in come next Christmas! The romance was enjoyable but not earth shattering - but I would still recommend this to someone looking for some holiday cheer.
Megan Squires simply sparkles in her newest Christmas Novel. She has sprinkled Christmas magic all over these pages. An Heirloom Christmas is a magical love story that leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy! The town of Heirloom Point is so charismatic and brimming with personality, you never want to leave. Seriously, can I live there??
With characters that capture the heart, you are sure to swoon over this Christmas delight. I am so in love with the people of Heirloom Point. Megan Squires has a special way of writing that makes her characters come to life, she makes them feel like real people, like real family. You can’t help but root them on.
This is definitely a story you will read with a smile upon your face. It will absolutely get you in the Christmas spirit. It MUST be read. If any of my friend are in need of a Christmas Hallmark fix, I will definitely recommend this book! It is absolutely Hallmark material.
ALERT 🚨 Super cute super quick holiday read review ahead!
The other day something just switched and I read two books in one day which is unusual for me! An Heirloom Christmas was the second book I finished on Thursday and it was so sweet. I gave it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars!
Chrissy and Nick were high school sweethearts, until Nick started playing pro hockey and they broke their engagement. Now a career ending injury has brought him back to town, where someone is sending notes to Chrissy that coincidentally get them in the same room all through the holiday season.
With the Christmas spirit and the whole towns silent cheering, Nick and Chrissy reconnect and rediscover Christmas traditions that lead them home.
Romance steam: none! Very PG but still so romantic! Christmas cheer: 🎄🎄🎄out of 5
My six word review: Hometown hockey hero loves candle connoisseur
Crissy has it all, a sister for a best friend, her own successful candle shop and a town that feels more like a family. The only thing she doesnt have is her one true love. The one that left her for the NHL. What will she do when he returns to Heirloom Point after a decade apart?
Author Megan Squires has created the most amazing small town with characters you are sure to love. She paints such vivid scenes you will feel as though you can smell the candles, see the sleds, and even imagine the wreathes.
This is a second chance story full of fun, traditions, family, community and love.
It is one you wont want to put down because it will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy! Absolutely loved this five star read!
This is the most fantastic Christmas book I’ve ever read! The characters were so wonderful, I felt as if I knew them personally. My favorite character is Chrissy, I love her spunk. This book had everything I think of when I hear Christmas. It has family, romance, community coming together, sled rides and a snowman. This book had me laughing and crying happy tears. The emotions the author pulls from the reader is so beautiful. This is a book i could read over and over again. You will absolutely love this delightful Christmas read! Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
This is such a sweet and wholesome story with characters you love and are rooting for. It’s so fun to imagine yourself in this community of interesting and eclectic neighbors, all celebrating Christmas together. There’s even a bit of a mystery and a twist. A very fun read! It will get you in holiday spirit.
This was such a wonderful story. I laughed out loud, I had happy tears and I couldn’t put it down! Megan nailed it with this book! Such a great story that I could put myself there. I could smell the candles and see the lights! I can’t wait for more books!
A heartwarming, second chance story that was simply a joy to read. I loved the small town and small town characters in this book. My first Megan Squires book, but not my last. A lovely Christmas read!
This is a sweet, small town Christmas story of first loves and second chances. I enjoyed the characters and loved the small town setting. It’s a must read for Christmas!!
This was one I couldn’t put down! Surprising, too! It isn’t my normal choice of book but I was hooked from the beginning. So light, airy, & cheerful! LOVED IT
In An Heirloom Christmas, Megan Squires transports us to Heirloom Point, a town so steeped in holiday spirit that even Santa might consider it over-the-top. Our protagonist, Chrissy Davenport, is living her best life running a candle shop that could rival any Hallmark movie set. But when her high school sweetheart, Nick McHenry, returns after a career-ending hockey injury, things heat up faster than a three-wick candle. Their past is as tangled as last year's Christmas lights, and the town's annual wreath auction becomes the catalyst for rekindling old flames.
Squires paints Heirloom Point with such vivid, festive charm that you can almost smell the pine and cinnamon wafting through the pages. Chrissy's journey of confronting her past while navigating mysterious notes tucked into her lackluster auction-winning wreath adds a sprinkle of intrigue to the mix. Nick's return isn't just about mending a broken heart; it's about rediscovering the true meaning of home and community. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the small-town dynamics, complete with quirky neighbors and heartfelt traditions, make for a cozy, feel-good read.
However, let's address the candy cane in the room. The plot is as predictable as a Hallmark movie marathon, and the conflicts resolve with the ease of a hot knife through butter. But isn't that what we secretly crave during the holiday season? A story where love conquers all, wrapped up in a neatly tied bow? Despite the clichés, An Heirloom Christmas delivers a heartwarming tale that leaves you with the warm fuzzies, earning it a solid 4-star rating.
The story started out a little slow (or it could have been the mood I was in lol). The more I read, I could not put the book down. If you like Christmas stories set in small towns, you will definitely enjoy reading An Heirloom Christmas....!
I wish the author would have included how to make candles that continuously smell as they burn. There is nothing like lighting candles all over the den with a fire in the fireplace and a tree full of twinkling lights reflecting off the ornaments. Back to the story....childhood friends turn into sweethearts looking towards marriage until Nick is offered a position with his favorite pro Hockey Team. Nick not wanting to drag Chrissy around the world and Chrissy not wanting Nick to give up his dream decide to break up.
Ten years later Chrissy, a Candle Shop owner and Nick, home after a knee injury which prevents a future in hockey have the entire town pushing them back together through town events. Notes left in a wreath on the Candle Shops door forces these two together. I am so glad I didn't give up on this book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
“𝗜 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮 𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘂𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆, 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘆.” My final Christmas read of the year was the perfect small town, second chance love story with all the cozy, Hallmark feels. The heroine owns a candle shop. I mean, really, does it get cozier than that? A homemade wreath auction, coat drive, sled race, Christmas tree lot, snow storms, a snowman, peppermint mochas, and a winter’s ball?!? This book has it all! 😁 There are also quirky small town characters in the vein of Gilmore Girls: a police officer dad, an old doddering couple, two best friends called the LOLs (little old ladies), a sassy sister, a soldier brother, and a too good to be fake Santa Claus. The romance is believable but not in the least bit steamy: a lot of hugs and hand holding leading up to one big kiss. These small town Christmas romances are a dime a dozen, but I enjoyed this one quite a bit.
I found the book enjoyable but predictable, as if written according to a template. That's okay. I enjoyed the fantasy world of a kindly small town where people running small businesses can make enough money to buy a home and neighbors don't argue and the gossip is for the good of all. Especially appreciated was the very nicely drawn wintry, Christmas atmosphere. Although I prefer books with more depth of character and acknowledging the difficult ways we can get along better, this was a welcome relief from reality. It is what it is, and it is a sweet little fantasy.
Have to admit I didn't really know what I was getting into with this one. I was drawn in by the beautiful cover and the fact that Nate was a hockey player. I haven't read too many romances, I should specify I haven't read too many romance focused novels. Overall the story is very cute and full of Christmas cheer. Unfortunately for me the soft plot and constant focus of the entire town on Nate and Chrissy's relationship was a bit of a put-off. Feel as though this is one of those It's me not you moments perhaps, turns out maybe I really don't like romance focused novels. Don't get me wrong I like romance but I also like a lot of other things as well. Still Squires has created a lovely Christmas story.
A sweet, second chance romance! Chrissy and Nick were high-school sweethearts with the intention of getting married. But then Nick got drafted into the NHL and they broke up. A career ending injury has him returning to his hometown where Chrissy is still living. It turns out neither one has ever moved on from each other. With the help of some nosey neighbors and being back in their hometown, will they be able to rekindle their romance?
Both Nick and Chrissy are characters you find yourself rooting for! They are real and likeable. Their story is super sweet. This was an easy and enjoyable read. The perfect end to my Christmas reads this season!
Wow it's been a while since I have read a book that had a proper ending and wasn't part of a series
A wonderful story of true love lost and life went on But Chris is fulfilling her life making candles and selling them in her hometown... Rumour has it that her lost love is coming home after a knee/leg accident playing hockey What does this mean for Chris...will it be hard to see Nick? Chris starts receiving mysterious notes in the wreath on her business door...are they from Nick? Highly recommend this beautiful Christmas romance that warms the heart.
