Six years – well five years, three months, and eight days since my life was irrevocably changed, and there’s nothing I can do about it. As much as I want to move on…how do I do that? How do I allow myself to feel those butterflies of love again when I know what the consequences could be?
Life can change in the blink of the eye. Nyc Jordan planned the happily ever after with the love of her life, Hank, after they got a second chance. But second chances don't always work out either. Now Nyc just exists - work, school, home repeat. The most excitement she gets is arguing with the neighbors from Hell. Until she's lead back to the skating rink, where Beckett Morgan barrels into her. It's been six years. Does she let him knock her off her feet, or does she continue to hold onto a love that will never be?
It started of pretty great, but it started to drag. I read about half, but I had to stop. At the beginning, I loved Nyc. She was witty, clever, fun, and seemingly strong. I had to stop because she started to really irk me. She has been seeing/dating this man for once and never thought to take her ring off, but he has one little insecurity and she’s jumping down his throat! The part that got to me was she kept saying she was owning up to her stuff, but in the same breath would blame everything on everyone else.
Another thing that bothered me was the long flashbacks. It started to feel like I should root for Hank even though that’s not possible at this point. It took away from Beck and Nyc and became about Nyc and Hank.
First time reading this author. This was a decent read but was frustrating at times. The chemistry between Nyc and Beckett was great and he was uber patient with Nyc. Nyc understandably had issues with moving on but 6-7 yrs later she was still in a bad place. The timing at times seemed off. The very, very intricate details in the flashback were a little longer than necessary. The story seem to dragged because with the budding romance between the h/h, somethings keep repeating with no substance added to the story because of it. All in all, as I mentioned a decent read
For this first time reading of this author, I'm really glad I took the chance on it. It did make me LOL I'm places through the book. I love how it wasn't a " instalove " meeting. How everything progressed at a reasonable pace. I could read more books from this author in the future
This was a 3.5 read for me. The story was a little slow and most of it revolved around her love story with her deceased husband which I think would have been a better book if the author just focused on their story.
This was a funny, sweet, sometimes sad book. My problem was it for sure could have been way shorter. Although I enjoyed Nyc and Becky I know their story dragged at times. I have to read another book by the author to decide if this consistent.
This was sweet and we'll worth it. I loved the pace of the story. Beckett aka Beck aka Becky and Nyc aka Nicole (lol) their story slow rolled along but kept me interested. I'm glad the author didn't rush anything but allowed them time to get to know one another and time to heal and time work through their issues. This story reminded me that there is a time for everything. I don't know if that was the authors intent but this story clearly illustrated that. Beck was steady. A rock. A man who knew what he wanted. Nyc was a woman ready to try again. Ready to heal but afraid to take that leap. I'm glad she jumped and I'm glad Beckett caught her. This story was about living and loving after a loss. It was about a woman realizing that there is still life after a tragedy. I'm so glad this author allowed us to see a woman coming out of tragedy and doing what needed to be done to heal herself. I'm glad this author showed us a patient, kind man. Who was not an over the top alpha but a real man with issues who was vulnerable but also protective of what he considered his. This author created real life everyday people. Average Joe's. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a sweet story about everyday people who are healing and learing to love again and embracing it. This was an IR story but that was who they were and not the focal point of the story. This story was about two people who happened to be a bw and a wm falling in love. This was my first time reading this author but not my last. I cannot wait for Zola's story. I hope and Sri can figure it out. And if not, I'm still hoping it's Zola's time for her HEA.
I wanted to give this a 5 stars but o couldnt it was too long and took too long to start the head people literally flirted for 1 year before they did anything except peck on the lips she was hung up on her dead husband for 6yrs and couldnt move on it just took to long for the book to start and there were too many incinsistencies
I am not sure where to begin. This was so good. It was laugh out loud funny and not because I think it was a comedy, but because these characters were smart, witty people that you could enjoy being a friend with. I loved the storyline, and even the flashbacks were not over the top. The concerns and conflicts were balanced. Please keep writing; I am new to your writing. I am excited about what comes next.
Good clean story. It was touch and go for a second on whether or not i would finish reading it. Im glad i did.
I found that Nyc said a lot of relatable things in her day to day dialogue, which made her funny and very personable. Nyc had a great sense of humor and was a well rounded character. Her pain was evident in her struggles to re-establish herself and not just find a man. I liked that it wasnt your typical “ new man saves the day and woman from herself and past”. The reader is able to watch Nyc and Beckett grew as people and as a couple. Beckett was a typicall drop dead gorgeous white guy with huge man parts, when they reached that level. It made for good reading....ha ha! I liked that his insecurities were normal guy stuff. I also liked that he was patient and understanding of Nyc’s needs.
“N-Y-C” was hilarious! I laughed throughout the book and enjoyed the entire story! Beckett was a true alpha male who could not help to fall for her from the very beginning. There also were a bunch of sad parts, like when her first love passed and when her boyfriend abandoned her in her time of need because of his hateful mother. She did not jump into another relationship for six years and her ex-mother-in-law had the nerve to pass judgement. Missy was just too much. I had much respect for Nyc for not laying her flat on her behind after she disrespected her in her own home after years of silence out of respect for her husband.
I fell in love with NYC and Beckett. The story line moved at a beautiful pace. There was no rushing to get certain points out of the way. Supporting casts were came in and out seamlessly ( including Phoebe and Frank). I cannot wait to read another book by SaRah Savage. Fantastic job!
Outstanding and beautiful. First time read. Very sensual and moving. The depth of background made the story for me. The flashbacks were incredible. Frank and Phoebe were hilarious.
Okay, I almost DNF(ed?) "Knock Knock." I was crying at the start, but then it slowed down to a molasses in January trickle. I persevered and the pace of the story became excellent again. I loved this book! NYC's past with Hank and present was Beckett wove a tale that was (mostly) irresistible! Thanks, SaRai Savage!!!
This book is a journey. I loved everything about it. From the past and into the future, I was totally glued. Since this is my first time reading this author, I'm definitely going to check out more.
Very well written. The entire book had me hollering in laughter. I love that the relationship was slowly developed & not insta love. Nyc's play on people's names was icing.
First time read from this author. This book makes me want to read more. Loved the banter between the H and h. I can relate to the issues that were touched in the story. Wonder if the other couple will figure it out???
I loved, loved this book. Watching Nyc and Beckett slowly find their way to love was beautiful to behold. Ms. Savage built their friendship first then progressed to the romantic relationship. Their attraction to one another was always there growing along side Nyc and Beckett’s friendship. Outside forces, Brody, Beckett’s cousin, and Missy and Jackson, Nyc’s former mother in law and husband’s best friend, test their relationship but the foundation was solid and withstood the storm. Thanks to uniquewordsllc for recommending this great read. I could not put it down. The story kept me so emotionally invested in these characters. So well written.
I really liked this book. It made laugh, cry and laugh so more. The story flowed giving just enough back ground in between to keep it moving. Very good book.
Ok, Beck and Nyc had me laughing out loud and swooning at their chemistry. Ms. Savage woos and pursues her audience thoroughly, my goodness! Beck is definitely my book boyfriend du jour!
Very good story. Funny and sweet and real romance. With enough sexy too. Loved The characters. They seemed real and the dialogue was fun. Will try this author again. A few errors but nothing that threw the read completely off.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a funny tale about love, the tragedy of loss, and finding love again. I could relate to some of the things Nyc went through with the fear of putting herself out there again. But Beckett was there and determined to love her in spite of his insecurities. I loved her personality and his patience. A great book indeed. This book was suggested by Unique Words, LLC.
