The true story of how one special dog beat the odds -- as seen on hit social media site The Dodo! When Nubby the boxer was born, there was something different about him. That's because Nubby was born without his two front legs. He was so small and so sick. The humans who rescued him weren't sure he would make it.
But after a little while, Nubby started to get better. Soon, Nubby was well enough to try to walk. But without his front legs, Nubby had to scoot or hop from place to place. Nubby's family knew this one-of-a-kind pup would need a little extra help getting around.
This inspiring true story teaches us that with a little love, some creativity, and a lot of hard work, special dogs like Nubby can overcome any obstacle!

A sweet, true story about Mark and Lou and how they rescue Nubby. What a wonderful story. My little animal lover LOVED the story. She also loved all the factual information in the back.
I read this for a Teachers as Readers group at a middle school. While I loved the subject matter, I did not love the writing. While the book is informative and interesting, it is written for younger children. One of the things that bothered me was that the perspective often changed. For example, it would take Nubby's perspective, but this approach was kind of silly. It didn't really add anything and it tended to be simplistic. That being said--this is a great book for younger animal lovers and it offers an introduction to the complexities of rescue, which I am very familiar with. There was some great information about spaying, neutering, microchipping, and dogs with special needs.
Boxer Nubby was born without his two front legs, with nubs. Thanks to Lou Robinson and her husband Mark Bowling and W.E.A.R., their nonprofit animal rescue organization, Nubby has survived and thrived, and has been an advocate for the value of “differently abled” pets. Via media, he has engaged the hearts of people around the world, the “Nubby Nation.” I found several errors in grammar, but that’s what I do . . . . Thanks, B and K, for letting me take this off your not-yet-read, new book pile. 😊
One of the best books I have ever read! Nubby's Story is about a dog named Nubby that only has two front legs and it goes through the life of Nubby and the challenges he faces. If you love animals like I do then you will love this book too! This book took me through an emotional rollercoaster, one chapter I'm so happy for Nubby but the next something bad happens. I learned from this book that people with disabilities and pets doesn't make us weird! My favorite part was when they introduced all the different pets in the house.

Adorable little elementary book. My daughter sees the adults in the family talk with our friends about books and told me she thought I would like the book, do what was I to do but read it. Nubby is a dog that was born with nearly fully missing front legs and discusses his rescuers story and the illnesses and challenges that he faced. The message of different is not disposable is a good message for kids to read.
A cute little story about Nubby, a boxer born without his front legs. Though based on Nubby's true story, this includes snippets of what Nubby is thinking and feeling...which makes it a blend of nonfiction and fiction (in college I took a class that called it "creative nonfiction).
I loved Nubby's story--his courage and spunkiness are impossible to resist. Perfect for kids who love animals and rooting for the underdog.
My kids love the Dodo videos of unique animals so when they saw this book at the library book sale, it was an obvious choice. We read it together at bedtime and finished it in just a couple nights. It is a sweet true story of a Boxer puppy born without his front two legs, and the humans who rescue and raise him. My kids both enjoyed reading about Nubby's triumphs, and I thought the text did a nice job emphasizing the abilities of all creatures, even those we may perceive as disabled.

Use for future classroom: This would be a fun book for my library Thoughts of book: I thought this was a cute book and I enjoyed the photos in the middle of the book. I also like the message that different is not disposable.
I read this book for my Teachers as Readers book club. I also read out loud with my 11 year old. He really liked it. I was not as impressed. I had watched the dodo video for Nubby’s story first. I think it was a really nice 15 minute video. The book just didn’t add any more to the story.
I love this book so much and I am so happy that I have read it and I think it’s the best book I’ve ever read in my life because I is so exciting and it was a little bit scary but it was only a little bit of the book
This is about a sweet dog that was rescued from the street, but he only had two legs. In the book he’s adopted by a new family, navigating what it’s like to have a dog with 2 legs, and finding the hard things in it.
Delightful story of a pup who would have been put down hours after birth, but instead is rescued and brings awareness to all rescue pets, especially those differently abled.
Very good book, I love Nubby's story! Such a sweet true story about a little boxer's journey. I love when he made new friends, even though he only has 2 legs. I would recommend.
I think this book is a great book! It teaches you about never giving up and trying when it’s hard! Nubby was born with only two legs and had faced so many challenges from learning how to use a wheel chair to learning to hop! But Nubby has such a great way of getting through them! I would recommend this book to anyone but animal lovers would love it even more!
