What do you do when you’ve made a mistake you wish you could take back? Make more, because you have nothing left to lose.
I met my match in Levi. We’re both used to playing games, doing what we want when we want. Neither of us expected to fall for the other in spite of our mistakes. I crave the things he does to me, how he makes me feel. I made a mistake, but so did he.
We’re both liars, but the biggest liar of all is the one that’s been there all along.
No matter what I have to do or how dirty I have to get, Dean is going down.
I’m doing this for myself, to atone for my mistakes, to get back at the boy who thinks he’s untouchable, and for my roommate, who isn’t strong enough to stand on her own.
When you’ve played the game so much, mistakes come a dime a dozen.
Love might just be the biggest mistake of them all.
Making Mistakes is the second and final book in a M/F duet, and it includes steamy scenes. There are mentions and scenes dealing with self-harm, along with some bullying. If you’re looking for a story with perfect characters, look somewhere else.
Hey guys! I'm a writer, an office worker, a wife, a mother to two dogs and two cats, and half of a strange pair of young adults who flip the houses they're living in with the goal of having no mortgage (so that I can eventually focus on my writing career!). Needless to say, I'm busy.
Still, I somehow find time to write, to read, and to enjoy life. Wish there were more hours in the day, really!
If you're active on Goodreads and have similar interests, friend me. I don't bite. Or if you'd rather follow my reviews, you can do that, too.
This is a great ending to a wild ride! Starting out I wasn’t sure about our dear Kelsey because of her part in Candace’s Hillcrest University series. (If you haven’t read those, definitely check those out!)
However, the more I read and got inside of her head, the more I LOVED HER! This story was full of steam, drama, and had me sitting on the edge of my seat!
This was a fun spin off duet involving Kelsey and her drama at college. The steam level is off the charts hot with plenty of bumpin uglies scenes between Kelsey and Levi. Before I go any further with this review, I need to mention the triggers involved which includes suicide, harassment, and malicious bullying. This isn’t a bully romance though so for those who are turned off by the sub genre of bully romance, don’t worry.
I really loved how all these characters are flawed and have plenty of screw ups in their past but they still find love among each other. Even when they are so hard on themselves for past mistakes, they actually have some amazing advice for each other and as the reader, I’m screaming “LISTEN TO YOUR OWN DANG ADVICE!” 🤣
I really wasn’t entirely sure how this book would go after reading the first one but I enjoyed the direction it took with focusing on repairing Kelsey and Levi‘s relationship while taking down Dean and making him pay for being a jerk face. I really enjoyed Kelsey‘s backstory with her parents and their divorce because it made me more empathetic to her as a character. She has some questionable behavior and reactions but knowing about her parents and their divorce including all the ugly little details makes it easier for me to understand Kelsey.
Overall this was a fun spin off from the Hillcrest series but you don’t have to read that series to read and understand this one.
This is the last book about Kelsey and Levi and what a rollercoaster ride of emotions it was. As Kelsey tries to come to terms with what happen when she went to visit her best friend Ash at Hillcrest and what she found out about Levi before she left to go see Ash she is even more off a mess. She has to figure out how to deal will her feelings for Levi and what he did but she also wants to be a good friend to her roommate Mel.
Kelsey roommate is not in a good place and she is worried that Kelsey will be hurt by Levi as she has had dealing with him in the pass. Mel tries to take her own life after a video is but on line about her and Kelsey and Levi decide to take action against the person that has caused all the hurt and pain to not just Mel but also Kelsey and stop him from hurting anyone else.
What happens in the book actually does go on in this world and how Candace has done the storyline and the characters was amazing and how she put it into words you really feel the hurt and pain that Mel went through and how Kelsey and Levi stood up to fight for what was right.
I do hope we get more about Kelsey and Levi I just loved these two and The love that they have for each other and that even though people can make mistakes doesn’t mean they can’t change and become a better person. I absolutely love reading there story.
Is it bad that this book held my interest more when Kelsey. & Levi weren’t together. Also I hate it when the male (Levi in this case) goes all alpha on the girl (Kelsey) and starts telling her what do. And she LIKES it.? Once K & L they got together there was just sex, sex, and MORE sex. Don’t get me wrong, I like a good sex scene as much as the next person & I know sex scene are a necessary part of the story when your writing about bully romances. But, by the end of the book I was just OH NO, not again...and skimming over those pages. They all just seemed to be the same over, and over again. AND! (this is just my personal objection) For the love of god, can we have a book where everything isn’t all happy ever after in the epilogue.
Also having read aforementioned epilogue, I don’t think I can be arsed reading Ash’s story at Hillcrest now. Call me old fashioned but, I just don’t get these reverse harem novels. Every time I’ve read one I always feel a little bit disappointed. ..Sheesh three stars
We see Kelsey come back from visiting her friend Ash in this book at the start. This is where we see her realise so many mistakes she has made and question herself alot. Throughout the book we see Kelsey and Levi go through so many twists. While Levi tries to prove he wants Kelsey. With a tragic incident Levi is the one to help Kelsey through it and help her in many ways to get an epic ending to the series.
Not sure why I waited so long to finish reading this. I picked it up when it first came out and for some reason, I wasn't into it. Finally picked it back up; I guess the timing finally felt right. Lol.
As always, awesome job Candace! I love love love everything you come out with and it's always a pleasure! You've come so far ❤
I'm happy that Kelsey and Levi were able to work through their differences and make everything right!
What a great way to end these books. Kelsey got her HEA. I loved how we got to catch a glimpse into Kelsey’s life to see what’s been going on with her. It answered questions for sure. If you haven’t started The Hillcrest University series yet start those before reading these.
I think this book solidifies it...I weirdly ❤️ Levi and Kelsey. It is just something about their relationship that draws me in. They are not prefect by any means and each have their own issues. But they are drawn together and want to try to make it work.
Throw in alittle revenge and some family and you get this great duet.
This was such a great duet and I couldn't read it fast enough. Kelsey takes you on a rollercoaster ride in her story. There may be triggers for some such as suicide and bullying but those are definitely not the main parts of the story. Kelsey and Levi are a match made in chaos mostly of their own making and I love it!
This book was so good . I really enjoyed Blues and Kelsey’s story . I’m so happy that Mel got something out of the horrible situation. Dean was a total Psycho and should’ve gotten way more then he did . I hope The fraternity got shut down. Now I need to read Ash’s story
I found Kelsey’s petulance quite annoying in this book, the constant running away wasn’t cool and I was kind of disappointed that there was no character growth in that regard. Also.. I found myself skimming the sex scenes, it got a little repetitive for me. I’m glad Dean got his comeuppance though. Fuck that guy.
This was one emotional roller coaster which sucks you in from the very beginning and doesn’t let go. It deals in topics that are so very real you think your living then through the book. It’s a definite must read that I’m highly recommending.
Brilliant read. Couldnt put this down. Kelsey is your typical student, making mistakes left, right and center. Her mistakes have left others hurting, Levis mistakes have hurt her and Mel. Can anything repair the damage that was left. This was a brilliant end to kelseys story. Well worth the read
Thats all Kelsey did i this one. Mistake after mistake. This one was better than the first. I will say this is not a bully romance. Just a stuck, bratty girl and a guy who wouldn't give up on her. I hope for Mel's story
Absolutely loved reading Kelsey's point of view and seeing what she was going through. It really helped wrap up Ash's story for me too. The ending is the best part, just because I loved seeing how everything came together and worked itself out.
This is an interesting story that deals with depression, suicide, bullying and harassment. While no one gets killed in this book these are more real to life for what someone may experience in college
Candace sure knows how to tell a story. And this being connected to another series made it even better. Loved that Kelsey & Levi finally got together and Dean got his.
This story is amazing? I loved how it progressed from book o e and was super happy with the ending. Kind of hoping to read more from these characters 🤞
I think this was the perfect way to conclude Kelsey and Levi’s story. Mel’s finally getting the help she needs and hopefully her life will get better. Kelsey and Levi are in love and happy. Dean got what he deserved and everything else fell into place. I hope we get to see more of their future with Ash’s.
