Sadie Goodwin thought she’d endured the worst life could throw at her when she lost her mother and was left to face her future alone. That was until she was kidnapped and dragged into a world where the monsters and legends of her childhood walked the streets. Certain that a mistake has been made, Sadie struggles to understand what is happening to her and why, but there is one thing that is becoming clear. Despite what she has believed her entire life, she does have family, and her family needs her. Unfortunately, this family could also get her killed.
Omg how I loved this book. It was full or witch craft which I loved and a big mystery to solve involving a curse. I laughed at how this book started off, as it starts with a kidnapping. I love the secretcy and the twists and turns which happened during the book. And the ending which revealed who done it, I would never of thought it would be the person who it was, i was utterly shocked. I loved this book and story I cant wait to get the best book and see where the characters go next and what will happe to them.
A librarian is kidnapped by some witches who believe she can help their striken leader. Taken to a magical town populated by mythical creatures she finds both a sense of belonging and a deadly adversary. If she can help save the cursed witch she will find the love and family she's been searching for. If not her life and soul are in danger.
This is a fun book. The tone is light and the characters are engaging. The mystery is interesting even though I figured out who the doer was early on. Looking forward to the sequel.
This is a well written book that kept me intrigued throughout. It is hard to find an original story these days, but this author managed it. The characters were well introduced, the scenes weren't too rushed or overly descriptive and the characters had just the right balance of humour to keep you entertained. The book leaves you wanting to know more about how the characters are going to develop and more about the town!!
It was a very enjoyable light read. Fast paced and entertaining. As a first book in a series it is full of cliffhangers but I like that at least resolves the main mystery that this book was meant to deal with. There are many clichés but that didn't bother me as much and I found the humorous writing style very amusing. It wasn't anything mindblowing...but I really liked it and I will probably read the rest of this series :)
Very good read! I enjoyed this book! It was entertaining from beginning to end. The story follows Sadie who is thrust into a world of paranormal that she had no clue about. She sets out to help a family member and gets a crash course in the paranormal and witchcraft along the way. I look forward to following this series
I loved this book from start to finish. The style is readable and engaging, the characters are colourful but believable and the world they inhabit is engaging. I particularly liked that the magical characters live in the modern world -- there isn't a spell stopping them using mobile phones, for example.
From Page 1 the characters and storyline drew me in. It was such an amazing book that came to life as I read it. I lost sleep because of it which shows how much I loved it. I highly recommend this book. The only sad part for me was when I finished it.
This was an excellent start to a paranormal series. The author brought the characters to life. The storyline was really good. I look forward to the next book.
EDITED: THIS SERIES IS INCOMPLETE. BOOK 5 IS NOT THE LAST BOOK IN THE SERIES.

Characters The FMC, Sadie grows on you through the book. I appreciated her response to literally being kidnapped at the beginning and they way that she reacted to certain events through the book. She felt pretty real and she did make friends with Tilda. I also love and appreciate crazy grandma characters, but I felt that the characters forgot too often that Sadie had nothing to do with the supernatural before and they were to judgmental about the things that she didn't know.
Atmosphere This was a fun little town to be in with some fun background characters I just wish we could have explored the area a bit more, made it much easier to guess at the bad guy when there are so few options.
Writing Nothing amazing or abysmal. It was pretty good and aimed at just being a fun kind of read.
Plot Girl gets kidnapped and told that she is the only one with the magic to help her great aunt that she didn't know she had. Wait magic is real? Is that a centaur? What is going on here? A fun time.
Intrigue It was a very short book and it moved along quickly with mostly likeable characters.
Logic Uhhhh Magic intuition MADE me kidnap this girl without even asking her if she'd be willing to help us save a person first. Then with very little fight everyone else, including the kidnapped, just go along with it.
Enjoyment It was a fun fast read once I really made the decision to get into these books sooo on to the next one to see if I just want to read these all. I love a fun paranormal/urban fantasy story.
I wasn't sure what to expect with this book, but I loved the Not In Hollywood series so I thought I would give this a try. I have to say I really enjoyed this first book, it had mystery, humor and unexpected happenings that made me hesitant to put it down until done. I am now going to purchase the remaining three books to see what else happens in this little town in Maine.
