SEASON SEVEN ALADDIN #1 Queen of the Sun #2 Heiress of Shadows #3 Throne of the Phoenix #4 Goddess of Fire
Born in Leeds, I lived a very normal life until I got bored one day and decided to travel the world. Since then I've worked on a Banana Plantation, cleaned ACDC's dressing room and been a professional clown. I climbed to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and the top of Kilimanjaro. Nowadays you'll find me being a climbing frame for my two young children, working in a school, and renovating my home. Did I also mention I wrote some books? I hope you enjoy them! Badalah is a hot kingdom full of peace and wealth, with devoted and just royal couple leading the country. The king and the queen also did a great job in raising their daughter Gaia, not keeping any secrets from her and always valuing the truth. But now it seems the trouble that have appeared in other kingdoms have come to Badalah as well, and the magic starts to awake - with Gaia discovering her magical abilities, and witnessing the heartbreaking lapses in the memories of all citizens of no magic, leading to riots and violence. Another kingdom, another fairytale, another royal family suffering a curse. I fell in love with the characters immediately, Gaia is certainly someone I can see myself in, and the family relationships before the curse are very similar to my own. I also took liking in the Genie and Gaia's only friends left, Freya and Jamal. Their adventures are leading now to big challenges and tremendous trials, and only the wise and brave with heart full of love can find a way how to keep the threat at bay.
Gaia's story starts of in an idyllic Badalah where her parents have transformed the land into a thriving, safe community where orphans are happy and well cared for and merchants grow rich with a successful spice trade that helps bring plentiful amounts of food into their desert home. If you've read any of the other character's stories in this series you know that is not how it is going to end though!
Gaia has been following the stories coming out of the surrounding kingdoms - lots of teasers for the other books. What happens in her country is something completely different again - and it hit hard and fast! There is a bit of a forbidden love story as well as a visiting suitor who stands out a bit from the crowd. Magic - of course! and even a magical pet.
This book skillfully uses much of the imagery and lore associated with Aladdin tales to create a rich groundwork for this fast paced tale. Fast immersive read you won't want to put down.
Queen of the Sun is the first book in the arc of Aladdin by J.A. Armitage and R. Castro. I really love this one.
Gaia is the daughter of Aladdin and Sultana Jawahir. She wishes to rules Badalah with her parents but she notice that strange things are happening in all the lands. It as yet to reach Badalah but she think it might soon and try to warn her father but he doesn't really belive anything will happen. Her mother keep inviting more and more suitors for her even though she told Gaia that she will be able to chose who she want and love. And Gaia's not ready for that. She just turn eighteen.
Genie, her father closes friend, do believe Gaia and also agree that something not right. When her power starts to appears and Asher her phoenix compagnion keeps getting weaker, things start to go bad for her kingdom. Is it link to whats happening in the others Kingdoms?
I have receive an arc of this book from the author. I can wait to read the next book in the serie.
This story is so much more than I thought it would be. Gaia is a very strong character and the twists in the story are not so off from the original, so this storyline connects well. It'll be interesting to see where the next book goes.
This book was so good. I literally could not put it down. The cover is so beautiful. The storys enchanting!!!! He writer makes me feel like I am there watching the story unfold.
The whole series of different retellings of fairy tales has been captivating. If I have enough free time I can read 3 a day. They are that interesting!
I got into the story with no trouble at all, even though I wasn’t feeling well. It proved to be a great distraction. Gaia is very fiery! I liked her, and her phoenix Asher too. The story flowed well, and was well written. Recommend!
Wow this one may be a contender for my favorite season yet! So much action and attention getting right from the start! I can’t wait to see what happens this season!
A good beginning to the Aladdin part! Great way to start and I feel like I have so many questions. For now I'm not the biggest fan of Gaia but we will see if that changes!
