You’re having twins – don’t panic! There’s little that will prepare you for the moment you hear the “You’re having twins!” You might feel shocked, delighted, scared, horrified, amused – or a mixture of all of the above. As a twin mother herself, award-winning parenting blogger and podcaster Alison Perry has first-hand experience with the emotional rollercoaster of having two babies at once. This warm, reassuring book will guide you from the moment you find out, through the pregnancy, birth and beyond. Combining expert advice from midwives, psychotherapists, nutritionists, parenting experts and breastfeeding specialists and more with Alison’s own experiences, as well as relatable anecdotes from other twin mothers, it addresses topics including accepting your changing body, the logistics of feeding two babies, and wondering whether you will ever sleep again ( yes, you will!). Filled with gorgeous illustrations and easy to digest chapters, this is the perfect gift for anyone who is expecting, or has just welcomed, two little bundles of joy.
Alison Perry is a writer, reader, and momma who lives in Charleston, South Carolina with her husband Greg and their three boys. In previous lives she's been a singing waitress on a river boat, a limousine driver in Las Vegas, and front desk clerk at a dilapidated motel on the shores of the Floridian panhandle. She loves books about the south, drinking bourbon, and trashy reality television.
I saw this book at the library while my 3 year old & 9 month old twins were playing & had to check it out! Since I have my hands full (as everyone tells me & every other twin parent), I didn’t read the entire book but skimmed it. I wish I would have had it when I found out I was pregnant with twins! I have some differences of opinions but appreciated the variety of opinions presented by many twin parents. I think this is a great resource for families expecting twins.
This has been the best twin parenting book I've read to date. It was kind and gentle and made becoming parents to twins seem a little less daunting. It was helpful in triggering things to consider that hadn't even crossed my mind. 6 quite UK centric - as an Aussie, some of the resources and references were lost on me, but on the whole, it was still very helpful.
Also, the graphics, stories from twin mums, and different pop outs made it so much more accessible to read - especially when super tired. Thank you!
