Mastering German Vocabulary: A Thematic Approach

Rate this book
Approximately 5,000 words are presented in 41 separate categories, including politics, military terms, business terms, communications terms, medical terms, scientific terms, household terms, and dozens more. English-speaking readers will find ready help in translating German words and phrases sometimes too specialized to be found in ordinary alphabetically arranged bilingual dictionaries. Here's a fine school supplement for language teachers, students, and language labs, and an aid for anyone who must sometimes get information from German journals and other publications. Line art illustrations, charts, and a comprehensive alphabetical word index enhances this volume's usefulness.

When learning a language, one of the best ways to expand your vocabulary is to learn words that are applicable to your profession or that are in categories in which you have a personal interest. This is a great book for doing just that. Being a veterinary technologist, I was very pleased with the detailed section on medical terms and also the "Animal World" section. I also learned a plethora of words related to literature and art. I would highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to expand their German vocabulary. Es ist wunderbar!!!
