What's worse? Confronting your biggest enemy... or your most terrifying fears?
Quinn Hartley has everything she's ever wanted. She's a top-level mindjacker now and has the pay to go with it. She has a loyal, trustworthy partner. She's finally escaped all the perils of Downtown.
And she's in danger of losing it all.
Quinn and the Protectorate cannot get their arms around the growing Black Jay threat. Her cop ex-boyfriend keeps threatening to throw her in jail. And, worst of all, someone evil is stalking her.
Not to mention her painful past keeps coming back to haunt her.
For Quinn, it comes down to one decision:
Do something utterly insane and face her worst fears... or lose everything.
Quinn Hartley has succeeded in lifting herself out of poverty by being a Mindjacker, a member of an organized crime group that aides corporate espionage by using devices to copy people's memories from their brains. All is not well in her new life however, as a new group of organized criminals called Mindthieves appears on the scene. Better trained, with better equipment, and an agenda this new organization attempts to destroy Quinn's organization. Quinn is also stalked by an assassin who wants to kill her and a cop who knows all about her.
This book thrives on suspense and plot twists. Like the original book it is hard to put down.
Be warned, despite bringing closure to some elements of the story, the ending is an abrupt cliffhanger.
I love this series so much! Quinn is a great protagonist, the dystopian city atmosphere is awesome, the writing is great, and the plot moves so fast and intense. Highly recommended (but oh boy....... the cliffhanger on book 2, watch out 🤣)
Brilliant! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one! These books are an excellent blend of science fiction and thriller, with well developed characters and a great plot. There are plenty of twists in the well-written story, and it is not easy to predict what is going to happen next. The characters seem very real, and are written in such a way that made me really care about what was going to happen to them - an essential part of a good book. This is the second book in the series, it could be read alone but you would get more out of it if you had read the previous book. This one does have more of a cliffhanger than the previous book, but it fits in well with the plot.
It's no secret that I'm a fan of dystopian fiction and the second book in the series does not disappoint. Quinn is a compelling character, strong and intelligent. She is very easy to relate to and it draws me in as a reader. This takes place after the first book, and it is fast-paced and engaging. Quinn, Noah, and Jones are all complex and well-rounded characters. The author has the ability to really make characters come alive on the screen through a myriad of small details in action and what they say. This is a great series that blends Sci-Fi, Dystopian and Thriller elements. I highly recommend it.
