Another classic book. I finally read Anne Frank, the Diary of a Young Girl.
This is the story of a little fourteen-year-old girl living in Nazi-occupied Amsterdam and her
family, who lived hidden in an Annexe for two years before being captured and arrested by the Nazis and taken to a Concentration camp. On her thirteenth birthday, Anne was given a Journal which she filled with thoughts about her life, fears, feelings and day-to-day life while in hiding from the Nazis in 1940's Amsterdam. After their arrest, the family and the other seven jews living in the secret Annexe were taken to the Gestapo headquarters. Later the men and women were separated and forced to go into concentration camps. Anne, her sister, Margo and their mother were taken to Bergen-Basen, a concentration camp in Germany.

Anne Frank and her sister, Margo died of typhus in the concentration camp. Their mother, Edith also died in the Bergen-Basen concentration camp of starvation and exhaustion. Her father, Otto Frank, was the only survivor of the concentration camp. After the war, he was given the Diary of his daughter by Miep Gise, one of the people who helped the family hide from the Nazis. Otto Frank was amazed by his daughter's writing. Otto was astounded by the wisdom of his young daughter. He said he didn't know his own daughter after reading her words. It was his daughter's wish to become a writer, so Otto decided to publish Anna's Diary. The diary was first published in 1947. Anna has become one of the symbols of The Holocaust. Her Diary has become quite famous. A sad, tragic story, Indeed but one that must be read.
One of Anne's quotes from the diary that was my favourite is:

'Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart.' and
''And yet, I look up into the sky I somehow feel that everything will change for the better. That this cruelty and death will end; That peace and tranquillity will return once more.'

Isi

Kekurangan Buku

Anna Frank is a Jew; and during WWll it was hard for Jews. Anna has to go into hiding with her family, another family, and some friends. She wrote in a diary for the duration of her stay in the "Secret Annex", the warehouse they hid in. This book hit close to home. I am not having to stay in hiding, never being able to go outside and knowing there are people out there who want you gone, but with COVID-19 and quarenting, I can relate to maybe the smallest portion. Being stuck inside, doing the same things day in and day out, I can understand a little bit. Anna Frank was a very bright girl with lots of wonderful ideas, and you can see her mind at work for years as she is growing into a young woman. This was a wonderful book, slow at times, but with great insight.

This is a great way for younger readers to learn the story of Anne Frank and realize that she was just a young girl when this happened and young readers can associate with her.

What I loved about Anne the most is that She was full of live in those hard circumstances whereas no one like us can survive that way. I learned to be happy in any situation from her. Thanks Anne.

The Diary of Anne Frank is a complex story about a young girl and her family who were taken to a concentration camp in 1940. On her fourteenth birthday she was given a journal, where she wrote about her experiences and feelings during this time. Later she died and her mother from exhaustion and starvation. The father was the only one who survived. He later published her journal in 1947. This was a very sad story, but very insightful and interesting.

Great pandemic reading. Anne's experiences of isolation resonated. It is remarkable to note Anne's growth in maturity over two plus years. Such a sad ending to her young life, and yet she achieved the recognition of her writing skills she desired after her death.

It took me almost 3 months to finish reading this book. Mainly for two reasons, I couldn't dedicate enough time for reading on a regular basis because of my schedule and also because of the slow pace of the book which describes Anne's experiences and thoughts in detail. I had to skip many pages as I felt the days in hiding were mostly similar.

Annelies Marie Frank started writing this diary two days after her thirteenth birthday. The book starts with Anne explaining her life before moving into Secret Annex. She explains about her family, friends and schoolmates. She also expresses her thoughts about things around her and what people think about her, common thoughts of a growing teenager. But things change when Germans attack Holland (Netherlands) and start taking all the Jews as prisoners. There was bloodshed, people were arrested just for being Jews and many of them had to hide to escape from all this. Anne's family had to move into secret annex above her father's office with another family.

She has beautifully explained how difficult it was to live without having proper connection with the outside world. And how they would spend time in the annex with constant fear of getting caught or attacked by Germans. She has also explained how the life in hiding was different from the one outside.

Though Anne didn't live to write the ending of her diary, her father and the publishers have given a brief explanation about what happened to the people in annex. Unfortunately, out of 8 people only Anne's father, Otto Frank lived to tell stories of his daughter and share her experiences.

Read this book if you want to know how difficult and different our lives will be if we don’t have the freedom that we deserve. And how bad the wars are for all the living beings as they cause destruction of property, lives and peace.

Books on CD are right up there with Peanut butter and chocolate. Love listening to a book on the ride to and from work on HWY 35. I feel as if Anna is one of my best friends that is able to look at the world with the same hope that Jesus would of. She sounds like she had been reading the new testament and Paul's letter of the world being dark and the we, God's children, being the light in the world. This is the hope Paul and Jesus speaks of when we loose hope that the human race has lost all it's senses when we decide to hate one kind of persons based on ignorance and fear. It is not that the world has gone mad or dark, it is simply that the light has decided to take a back seat, or be quiet and say nothing. To not fear now. Fear when God takes His light out of this world. Then what light with the darkness have to hope for. I can't wait to see young Anna again in Heaven running free and being opinionated.

Somehow I got through school without reading this classic. I enjoyed this as a recorded book, performed by Susan Adams. It was very well done and helped pass the many miles that I drove toting children around. :)
