GI Janel - Permanent IBS/SIBO Resolution

Rate this book
Dr Kathleen Janel has been treating digestive patients for over two decades.

She understands from her personal experience, how difficult it is to live with the constant pain, bloating, rumbling, gas, diarrhea and constipation of IBS and SIBO.

She has developed a unique approach for the resolution of IBS and SIBO and has treated patients around the country, helping them to decrease their inflammation, repair their functional anatomy, and support the digestive processes to reach permanent symptom resolution.

Diet is a key factor for the resolution of digestive symptoms, but Dr Janel does not want you to use long term restrictive diets. She will help you identify your personal problem foods and eventually add them back into your diet once your system is healthy and strong.

Her goal is to have you achieve the same permanent, symptom free success that her patients experience.

I rarely get anything new out of most medical books, but I bought this one bc I'm on a list serve with the author and she mentioned that she has a protocol, which she offers in this book, to prevent SIBO from recurring. Much of what she says are things that I (as another ND) already know - but what she offers that is new is very intriguing. She mentions that the key element that prevents recurrence is the inclusion of sulfur, in the form of MSM (in addition to treating other root cause elements of course, such as leaky gut, digestive enzyme insufficiency, other types of organism overgrowth, etc). I'm intrigued by this because one form of SIBO usually presents with sulfur intolerance, so this seems counterintuitive... but I am hopeful that this will prove to be a terrific clinical pearl. It does make sense, as she's explained it.

Many approaches to digestive health involve non-sustainable diets that can be very socially isolating, expensive and not the most fun in the long-term. Dr. Janel understands the value of foods that bring us joy, as demonstrated by the tasty-looking treats on the book cover, and elaborated on in the content of her book. The best part? The easy-to-read format with cute drawings is for the people that never thought they would be able to eat "normal" food again. In fact, this approach has allowed people to return to normal life as demonstrated by Dr Janel's patient examples and gives you the knowledge to advocate for your own healing.

Extremely comprehensive information!

Written so that a lay person can easily understand the content. Very thorough in providing knowledge on SIBO and alternative treatments. Hope-filled for those of us seeking permanent relief from SIBO/IBS.
