I'm Mobius

Rate this book
"Thar she blows!" One of many iconic phrases from, Herman Melville's, American classic, Moby Dick. Whales and whaling became mankind’s first, “oil boom". The great blow of breath that whales create breaking the ocean's surface was just as meaningful to whalers as gushers are to modern day drillers, money in the bank. Sperm Whales were particularly prized, and hunted to near extinction, as their great humps contained an enormous quantity of the finest oil known to exist. Moby Dick, is a story about a great White Sperm Whale who fought back, and in doing so, injures Captain Ahab, the man who would have him for a trophy. Melville's classic tale begins after this first, fateful encounter. It is more a story of one man's downward spiral into madness as hatred and his unyielding need for revenge slowly consume him. Mobius, is a small, lyrical story as told from the whale's perspective. This is the tale of a young white whale and his first encounter with the emotionally crippled, Captain Ahab. A battle to survive against all odds. His tale, is one of loss and redemption, of being born different and the need to feel accepted.

“Great book for all ages! From cover to cover. The story is Amazing, and the artwork is beautiful. I really enjoyed reading this book. Boys and Girls both will enjoy reading this book. I think it is just fine as a story with illustrations. People like to point out that it is black and white when nearly all children’s books are filled with color. I made the decision to do so after listening to a story about color-blind children and how they experience the world around them. I wanted them to share the same experience as color-sighted children who might read the story.
