This story will keep you on your toes with an intense love story, challenges, betrayal and overcoming the odds that love conquers all. Another great angsty book by Trisha Harley McCarthy, author of the acclaimed Granite Bay Series.
I can't understand how high this book's rating is. It's badly written, the story is like a poor version of The Dynasty and most characters gave me whiplash with their multiple personalities. I'm not convinced the main couples were in love, the sex scenes were lukewarm and the dialogs were ridiculous! This is the first and last book I'm reading from this author. For me, it's a total waste of time😒
One of the most ridiculous books I’ve ever read! None of the characters were likeable, acted like a bunch of over the top teenagers. There was just so much unnecessary drama, that it made brain hurt.
I have absolutely no idea what I just read! It was like one big train wreck of a soap opera! This definitely contains some spoilers due to my little rant... You have the Hero Ki who loves to walk out on the h Zoe every time something bad happens and has anger management issues.. then we have Zoe who kisses her ex boyfriend and friend of both H and h Flynn - even though Ki is being operated on and supposedy dying! Too many darn secrets and high school drama! Oh and I couldn't tell if Jed- the supposed father- was alive or dead! One line says he's sitting in jail and the next line says he died of an aneurysm! This book had potential in the beginning but quickly went downhill after a couple of chapters...
On Ice plunges straight into drama. Ki & Zoe, driven apart, only to be brought back into each other’s lives again years later. There is so much hostility between the two of them, but their overriding passion for one another dominates.
This book had twists and turns aplenty. I’m sure my jaw dropped open with the real shocker (Ki’s mum and Jesse is all I can say without putting in a spoiler).
This couple go through so much before getting their HEA. A romance full of angst. A romance full of doubt. And a romance where the main characters fight for their love.
If you've never been to a live hockey game, you don't know what you're missing, ha! Adrenaline-pumping action for the entire game!
If you've never read Trisha Harley McCarthy's ON ICE, you don't know what you're missing, ha! Adrenaline-pumping action for the entire book!
From the beginning to the end, Zoe and Ki set my heart, as well as the ice, on FI-YAH! This book had twists and turns through the roof and a shocker or two just to make sure you were WIDE awake and reading. LOL This was a super page-turner that had me drooling. Often.
I give it a big, fat FIVE!!
**Should this be on ACME? (weighing my hands) It's spicy. Not for the under 18 crowd AT ALL!**
5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Disclosure: I gratefully received this complimentary copy I requested. I am voluntarily leaving my review and all opinions are my own...including that everyone should own a Hockey bag, puck and a Hockey Player. :D
Raw and uncut. This book has lots of twists and turns and keeps you guessing from the very beginning. This is my first book by Trisha and won't be my last by a long shot! Zoe goes through so much with Ki. Most of it unnecessary, and horrible at best. They have so so many factors playing against their relationship that you root for them the whole way with your fingers and toes crossed hoping and praying they pull through as a couple. Can they defy the odds and their love last forever, or will they say good bye one final time???
Reading this story was like watching a bad soap opera. There were a lot of face slapping, out of hand drama, and abrupt scene changes. I forced myself to read the entire book hoping it would get better. I didn’t feel engaged to the characters.
I’m not convinced the author knew much about hockey. For starters, the Hart Trophy is presented at the NHL Awards. It is not awarded to the MVP to his team in the playoffs at the end of the Stanley Cup. That would be the Conn Smythe Trophy. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
This book has romance, sports, relationships, and all the fun and drama you look for in a great book. I totally love the Granite Bay Series by Trisha Harley McCarthy and this book is like the icing on the cake. As I read it, I laughed, cried, and tried to solve the mysteries going on. Giving it five stars and a strong recommendation comes from my heart.
Yall, this book is angsty that my head is still spinning. As yall know, I can’t stand that but the way that Ms. McCarthy wrote Ki and Zoe’s story, it made complete sense. It needed to be that way for these two to get together. There is so much going on between them that drives them apart time and time again but the payoff is totally worth it. Between the lies, betrayals, major family issues and then communication breakdown between Ki and Zoe…good law, the angst.
Ki and Zoe are a great couple. I truly did love them from the beginning. Ki reminded me of Mark Messier from the New York Rangers hockey team. I’m a hockey junkie and I did work for the Dallas Stars when they won and then lost the Stanley Cup. So I can be highly critical of hockey romances but Ms. McCarthy nails every aspect of the sport. From the front office to the press, it is brutal. Zoe knows this, as does Ki and they really do their best to avoid it but can’t. Mix in Jesse, Zoe’s former best friend, and Flynn and are the lies to be believed?
Jesse is a piece of work, however, I loved how Ms. McCarthy does redeem her in the end. Trust me, I didn’t spoil it because you just need to read the book. She trusts the wrong person and when she figures that out, it’s game on for her. Loved how she fought back when she realizes that and eventually helps Zoe and Ki find their way back to each other. Flynn is another character that is a douche in the beginning but slowly redeems himself in the end. Possible spoiler but something you need to know…after the breakup of Ki and Zoe, Zoe and Flynn date. Normally, I don’t like a love triangle/quad but it works in this story. Don’t be turned off by it. Keep reading, it’s worth it.
The family issues are a doozy. Jed is an ass and Ki’s mother needed to be slapped upside her head and in a way she does. However, I would love a bit more of a comeuppance but I was satisfied in the end. I won’t go into all of the family issues but damn. The secrets and how Ms. McCarthy came up with everything is just WOW! Like head spinning WOW! That’s all I can say about that. Anything more would be a spoiler.
Ms. McCarthy is a new to be me author and she knocked it out of the park for me. Angst and all. I read this book in one afternoon and I will definitely re-read it again. It was that good and despite all of the head-spinning that I experienced, I can’t wait to read another book from her. Plus, it has hockey players. I’m a sucker for those. Heck, we named our son after a hockey player. Go figure.
I was given an advance copy of ON ICE, in exchange for an honest review.
First off, I LOVE Trisha Harley McCarthy! Her characters sizzle with passion, sex, anger, adrenaline and scandal. She never disappoints, and I am always eagerly waiting for her new release of another novel.
ON ICE was a delicious ride!
The heat and intensity between Ki and Zoe (hero and heroine) had me turning the pages rapidly. I couldn't stop reading!
Momentum of the story was perfectly paced. The author had me yearning for more and more. She threw in a couple twists that I never saw coming, and that increased the heat factor, ten-fold.
I love how McCarthy spins a tale with such ease, you just know she's born to do this: charm our pants off (pardon the pun). There's a sexiness in her prose, and you really feel it when you're reading the heated exchanges between the characters.
Readers of erotica or contemporary romance will love this book, because it's fast-paced and really entertaining. McCarthy's witty dialogue, bold personalities and exquisite descriptions and adjectives make me love her more as an author, with every book I read.
Maybe I am biased, but I couldn't find one negative thing to say about this book.
Congrats, Trisha!!! Bravo to another smashing success! And fitting that it's being launched on New Year's Eve. I wish you a rockin' New Year and many happy returns! God Bless, RR
I really enjoyed reading Zoe and Ki’s story. I have to admit, I usually shy away from celebrity romances because I always figure I won’t be able to relate to the characters, but the author did a terrific job of humanizing this power couple. On Ice pulls back the veil from what one might consider a very glamorous lifestyle and sheds light on the hardest parts of celebrity ie. dealing with the media, paparazzi and the darker sides of the sports/entertainment business, not to mention she brings several mental health issues to the forefront. Killian “Ki the Sly” Connery is a star hockey player and team captain for the Otters and Zoe is the daughter of the team’s general manager. Their relationship takes so many twists and turns that I was on the edge of my seat reading the whole time. This book is filled with colorful characters, intrigue and… well, a whole league’s worth stone cut abs. I can’t wait to read more about Harley McCarthy’s hot hockey guys. Go Team!
Trisha Harley McCarthy has written a real page turner. This is one of my first books that I’ve read by Trisha Harley McCarthy, but it definitely won’t be my last.
I fell totally in love with Killian and Zoe. They are such a wonderful couple and their story just flowed so smoothly together. This book has all of the feels! Love, anguish, romance, drama and not at all what I expected from a sports book. I laughed, I cried and I’m sure there were moments when a bad word slipped from my lips as I read their story. That’s a sure sign of a great book. I got completely lost in this story and found myself not wanting to put this book down in fear that I’d miss something.
I so recommend this story- you don’t want to miss out on this book! I can’t wait to read it again.
From the moment I started reading I couldn't stop til I finished. Trisha Harley McCarthy has a way of bringing you into the story, making you feel a part of it. The ups and downs, twists and turns as well as the steamy romance scenes will have you wanting more. Ki and Zoe have a love that is so strong, an unbreakable bond that holds them together despite all that is put in their way. And all of it happening in the very public spotlight. On Ice, A Hockey Romance is a must read and Trisha Harley McCarthy is an author who will quickly become a favorite of yours.
Wow this book had me in all directions. If there was anything that could go wrong with these two it did. At one stage I thought what in the world could possibly happen next?
With everything that kept happening, I kept wanting to turn the page. Zoe & Killian’s story had me all over the place. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed the story.
Drama after drama after drama. Gosh talk about drama getting in the way of love. But, as always love prevails and that’s all that matter.
Trisha kept me wanting to see what’s next. She kept me turning the page.
A novel with more unexpected twists, turns and fun than behind the goal seats during sudden death. Whew! What a rush! This is not a love story for the faint of heart. It’s real, raw and downright ugly at times but that’s what makes it resonate. Trisha is a genius with character creation and doesn’t hesitate in delving into the darkest corners of the human psyche. Zoe and Ki are not your cookie cutter heroes—far from. They’re flawed and torn and often misunderstood. They’re so real that they—and their love—jumps off the page. An emotional ride to say the least, but so worth taking.
I enjoyed this hockey romance with Zoe and Ki. This story has some twists and turns in it, just to keep you guessing and to keep it interesting. And it was interesting. The parents are another story in itself. They could have their own story, but are a huge part of the problems this couple goes through. This was my first book by this author and I had a hard time putting it down, it was so good. It’s hockey, a messed up relationship, a screwed up parent, and wondering why me?
I loved this book it is a fantastic book the characters in this book keeps you interested from the moment you start reading it this book has a lot of twists and turns it’s going to keep you wanting to know what will happen next all the way to the end love it.
I loved Ki and Zoe' s story. It was full of action, and suspense and a wonderful love story. I laughed, cried and fell in love with the characters Trisha wrote. I highly recommend On Ice to anyone looking for a fantastic book to read.
The characters go through a gammet of hardships and emotions that will have your heart bleeding for them. The twists and turns in this book are unpredictable and will keep you guessing until the end. This is a great read that you wont want to miss!
I enjoyed the characterisations, and you are definitely left feeling for Zoe and the situations she encounters - the author is an expert in pushing you towards, and pulling you away from the characters.
Zoe and Ki have their ups and downs. Insecurities and letting others influence them play havoc with their lives. Can they forgive each other and find their happily ever after or will they let everyone else destroy them?
A excellent read with exciting twists and tuns! Zoe and Ki were both hurt by the ones they loved and trusted! The passion and love between them is very real and won't be denied! This story was a real treat to read!
