Adenike (Pronounced: "Ah-Day-Knee-Kay") was born, raised, and currently resides in Richmond, VA -- the canvas on which she paints her literary worlds. Known to obsessively talk about her adoration for the artist, Prince, Adenike is also known to create fantastical "stories" that she tells her friends, and that she almost believes herself.

Adenike is the author of four novels and a short story compilation book with co-author Arielle Crowell. Adenike’s Genre of choice is Urban Fantasy/Paranormal, which blends supernatural elements with city life to create a world that fits in this reality where any entity can live. She is also a founding partner of the publishing company Literati Media Group.

In 2009, Adenike wrote her first novel, "Vampire Whore" which has sold several copies all over the world and has been received well by book reviewers and book readers. The storyline for this piece meshed her love of Vampires with the realism of urban/street life. The story mixes suspense, love, and thrills to create a world of possibilities. "Vampire Whore" is known as a ”Cult Classic” with a fan following that spans race, creed, and age demographics.

In 2013, Adenike established her publishing company, Literati Media Group, with two other co-founders and published her second well-received novel, "I Love Him, He Loves Me Not". This story focused on untreated mental health issues and the pressures of being a socially accepted young woman. "I Love Him, He Loves Me Not" was given rave reviews by OOSA Book Club and AAMBC, two prominent book organizations in the African American Literature Community. With the opening of Literati, Adenike published a book comprising a few of the short stories she’d written in between her first and second novels, entitled "Tales of Intrigue."

In 2020, Adenike released Birthright, which touches on African Spirituality and blends with current African-American culture to weave a story about healing relationships within families and owning the power that has been passed down by your ancestors. AAMBC noted Birthright as one of the best books they read during the COVID quarantine, and "The vivid storytelling present in this novel will completely engulf readers."

In October 2024, Adenike released her 4th title, "Vampire Whore II: Blood & Lust," which is the second book in the Vampire Whore trilogy. Vampire Whore II continues the story of Bianca, a prostitute who turns into a powerful vampire. This part of the story has her grappling with struggles from her past and what the future will look like for her being fueled by powerful vampire blood. As was the first installment, Vampire Whore II is set in current-day Richmond, VA and filled with spice! The supernatural element of vampires being part of the lows of society brings a grittier element to a "girl meets world" story. With the launch of this book, Adenike plans to continue the mission of Literati of bringing a different type of story to the book world.

Over the years, Adenike has been a member of several writer’s groups that use critique methods to enhance the writing craft. She has also participated in several writer’s workshops and been a consultant on other writers' projects. Adenike has also been requested to ghostwrite several novels.

Her passions include good art, good food, and a good time.

I really wanted to LOVE this book because the paranormal genre is a little lacking in having African American characters for the lead in paranormal books. But there wasn't enough “vampire” for me in this book. The story was fine; I think I hyped myself up to much with the hopes of a majority black paranormal book.

Bianca has a hard life and leaves home at an early age. Trying to run from one hard life of prostitution she ends up with a worse lifestyle. After a couple of years she hooks up with Daddy and her life gets better until his jealousy pushes her back to the streets.

She is not on the streets long before Leon comes to save her with promises of love and wealth, just what Bianca has wanted her entire life. But in Leon haste to finally have is true love; he betrays Bianca and Bianca is in no mood to forgive…anyone.

So my issue with the story:
I like the battles that the vampires have and the use of their supernatural powers. There is none of that here because there is no need. The battle is with just plain old humans so of course they are getting picked off left and right, no real challenge yet. The way the book left off I’m guessing there will be a sequel, so I don’t know if that will be rectified or if the humans will prevail.

The book to me didn’t start picking up till around the 42% mark (Kindle Edition). So that first half was spent building up Bianca’s life and that’s fine but I thought it was a little repetitive not too bad but I did do a bit of skimming. I would say about 20% of the book as actual vampire and the other 80% is whore stuff. Even after Bianca is turned, the story then shift to another protitute Lucy and Bianca stays in the shadows taking out her revenge.

The book does have sex but not too much. If you don’t like reading about oral sex then this books is probably not for you because Bianca was giving Superhead a run for her money.

So would I read the next one, probably. I want to see how it ends.

4.25 🌟 This was an absolutely wiiiiild ride and I did not expect to enjoy this read as much as I did, but I thoroughly expressed by this super underrated gem!!!

Being a native of Virginia, I was only initially interested in reading a vampire story taking place in Richmond VA, but I was instantly drawn in by the great storytelling and immersive buildup right from the start, and vampires became a forethought because I was just interested in Bianca's story and all the characters surrounding her. And the vampire lore wasn't really introduced until about 60% into the book, but there's a sequel so I'm hopeful the vampire aspect will be expanded upon more. Plus I must know what happens after that completely left-field cliffhanger at the end!!!

This story was a blend of sooooo many genres from contemporary fiction to urban erotica to paranormal crime thriller, and I'm not mad at that one bit because it all meshed so damn effortlessly imo. Although there was so much potential I felt was left unexplored with Kilion/Leon not being a MC for long, I'm still deeply invested in Bianca's evolution from the traumatized, manipulated protagonist to the merciless, murderous vampire villain.

I definitely would recommend this one to someone looking for something with paranormal urban erotica vibes, because you get that with this one PLUS a great plot/storyline with a very memorable cast of characters. Adenike's writing and work definitely needs more hype!!!

This was a captivating book that is exceedingly innovative and unique in the way that it draws your attention and holds it to the books end. I found the book to be very intriguing thanks to new author Adenike Lucas' brilliant ability to weave a rich tapestry of conflict, resolution, and erotica that leaves the reader wanting more! The scenery is easily imaginable for the reader, who will find him or herself in the heart of a world overflowing with greed, sex, and betrayal (with lots of erotic scenes in between added for a bit of seductive flair). At the end, I found myself overflowing with so many different emotions, as I was able to connect on many different levels with each character. I will be keeping my eyes peeled for Adenike Lucas' next book. If it is anything like her first, I know that I won't be disappointed! I'd recommend this book to any avid, adult reader interested in a brave new genre like erotic urban horror!

Good Potential

This story has a lot of potential, but somewhere along the lines, it went sideways. Bianca wanted to be loved as she got older but was a prostitute at 13 years old. Her mate finally finds her, and she does a 360 and kills him because she doesn't want to be loved and didn't even give him a chance. The story starts off with potential but then goes downhill. An angry vampire that is terrorizing everyone and all of her compassion is gone. I can't put my finger on why the story is off. Will not be reading the second book. I'm kind of disgusted after finishing this one.
