Rewriting Destiny

Rate this book
They all thought after Voldemort's fall that the world would get better. But they were wrong. The Death Eaters used politics to accomplish what Voldemort never could. And with the dwindling Wizarding population and no one left to fight, there's only one solution: to go back in time to before Voldemort rose to power, and fix what broke the first time around.

Initially, I thought the plot had potential, but it was soooo repetitive. The monologues were always the same and even the expressions used to describe the feelings of different characters were reused. I’m aware that being released in Ao3, there might be several weeks between chapters and therefore the need to repeat some of the information, but I’m talking about repetition within the chapter! Sometimes in the same conversation or paragraph… basic and lazy writing unfortunately. Also, everything is so easy in this plot. No major obstacles or falling outs. Like, everyone just accepts everything in a heartbeat. Really disappointed. 700 pages and I feel like I only enjoyed 100 of then.

I really liked some characters and their development but I found it a little bit too long and repetitive for my taste. Also the author tends to use the same expressiones to end sentences (sometimes more than once in the same page) and that was very annoying to read. Overall it was entertaining and I couldn't help loving the Marauders, Severus and Regulus dynamics ♥ I got plenty of smiles and laughs out of it but wouldn't recommend to others.

I liked the story. It's quite long and encompasses a very long period of time. And I'm amazed at the dedication the author had to accomplish such a feat. I love the trope of time travel and changing the future from the past. Although we are all told that meddling with the future is a dangerous thing, in this story, it's not. And the changes the main characters made affected some of the future we know but not the other. And it was explained that such events were meant to be.
I liked the concept of family magic and ways of claiming it. It made so much sense. In the canon, it wasn't well described how muggleborns came to be. And in this story, it was so logical that I think I'll stick to it onwards.
And I liked the concept of protection the family magic gave against the ousted members: you can't injure or kill your head of house or family member. And that the ousted members lose the family magic gave the story the needed credibility and new direction of evolvement.
This is another fic where Dumbledore is portrayed as less of a good old wizard, which I liked. I have to agree his canon character was a manipulative bastard, and it's a good thing he was described in more details and his actions as less ideal.
Another point for the story is the acceptance of homosexual relationships. It's hard for me to imagine some of the characters getting together, just because I didn't quite believe in the chemistry between them, but at the same time I like that in the story no one is discriminated on this ground. We have enough of it in real life, right?
But one thing that got me a bit weary of the story was the repetitiveness of dialogues, as if the author tried too hard to make a point. The reasons for the struggle between the light and the dark side, the arguments for and against mugglebornd joining the wizarding world, the reasons why the marauders did what they did for Lupin, etc. I got tired of them after reading for the third and fourth times and every new time they sounded weaker and weaker. The story was losing some of the credibility. Either the author was tired of writing the story or had a hard time coming up with what to say. Anyways, the story is definitely a treat to all Dramione shippers with a mix of adventure, slow born, happy ending, friendships and fluffy characters.

Really had a good plot but the 300k+ words could have been lessened to 150k-200k words because some of the monologue and narrative are just redundant. It's probably because it was updated per chapter in ao3 so readers would have to be reminded of what's happening and why it's happening but to be reminded of it constantly loses the excitement of reading.

The romance was extremely disappointing and I didn’t feel very connected to Hermione or Draco. However, I did like the side characters and I enjoyed the way the writer created her own magic system. I like what she did with that system as well.

This is a slow burn so just wait for it. If you stick but if you will appreciate the detail and begin to realise how fantastic this book is x

Not what I thought I was getting from the description. I thought we were getting wartime Dramione and Wolfstar, but we got the whole ride instead.

It has so much potential . They wasted it it took chapters to do it right so it has some shortcomings ...

Ooh yes, still mega war time and time travel! My faves.
And Draco’s going too. Woo hoo
a bunch of typos, not not bad enough to turn me off.
So, they’re put into their 11 year old bodies and given younger minds somehow, but with their memories intact. How and when is this going to be a love story? I don’t know if I'm willing to wait that long… I'm curious to try a different story. Dnf
