Hope In A Time Of War

I claimed her by force.
And yet she saved me…

An angel who brought peace.

I revel in war.
In conflict. Death. And destruction.
I fight for vengeance.
In hopes it will soothe the sadness of my soul.

At first I think nothing when I capture Faith Jorelle.
But then I realize there is more to her.
Her beauty - ethereal and fragile.
Her spirit - passionate and free.
She enraptures me.
And the predator becomes the prey.

We are on a world of the damned.
Mindless conflict is all we know.
And yet, when Faith walks among us.
There is peace.

This is the story of my beloved.
The woman who stopped a war.
Some call her a miracle.
Others call her a goddess.
Her presence and voice may bring hope to many.

But to me, she will always be.

My fate. My angel.
My salvation.
Mine.

Athena Storm is the pen name for two authors who fell in love with writing science fiction romance as they fell in love with each other.

She's the Athena. And he's the Storm. Athena hopes that one day it won't be a boyfriend/girlfriend writing duo, but a husband/wife team. But she's not pressuring at all. Not one bit.

Science fiction is the biggest love for the writing duo, and they've been doing the writing for quite some time now, building a universe that readers can get lost and explore in. Filled with big bad alien warriors, sassy human women who give as well as they get, hilarious situations, and enough steam to melt stars!

The duo have created the Athenaverse, where all books in all series are tied together. You can start anywhere but once you do, you'll want to explore them all!

When they get married, they plan to continue writing science fiction romance forever. But again, no pressure on the marrying part. Not at all. (Not like writing Happily Ever After ALL Day won't give you any ideas on its own, right?)

FAITH’S HOPE AND CHARITY BRING PEACE IN A TIME OF WAR

I received this book for free and am giving my honest and voluntary

Gar, an alien who didn’t know love, kidnaps Faith, a peace-loving civilian medic, who shows that love and caring for humanity, no matter what form it comes in, can be a cure all to everything. She brings two sides of warring aliens to a Christmas pact with her unswerving aid to the injured soldiers on both sides. Peace was needed to end this senseless portion of the war and everyone agreed. They needed a catalyst in the form of Faith.

The story is based on the Christmas wonder in the First World War in 1914.
This book really had potential and it was entertaining.
But at several plot turns the author folds and uses the easy way instead of keeping up the good work she obviously is able to and presents in the main parts of the book.
What I disliked was that the crescendo was missing, the grand finale. In the end the story just blinks out, with nothing really happening. No grand feelings or gestures.
A good editor would have rapped her over the knuckles and made a better book out of it.

Humanity has taken colonization to the stars and now formed the Interstellar Human Confederation. There are many other political entities in the galaxy, such as The Trident Alliance composed of the Vakutan, the Pi’rell, and the Alzhon; and The Ataxian Coalition composed of the Odex, Kreetu, Grolgath, and Shorcu. The Coalition and the Alliance have been fighting a war for about 350 years. Both sides have committed atrocities. Humanity had tried to stay neutral, but finally sided with the Alliance in their war against the Coalition.

As the war continues, the Coalition and Alliance Forces are in an apparent stalemate over ownership of a tower on the planet of Armstrong. Gar is ordered to find someone who can treat the Coalition wounded, so he kidnaps the human medic, Faith Jorelle. She helps them and gains their favor, but she wants the fighting to end. So she asks to treat the Alliance wounded too and, not wanting her to go alone, Gar goes with her. Her peaceful nature is having an effect on Gar and giving him hope. But because Faith’s treating the “other side” was against orders, they are arrested when they return, but they are freed in an uprising. Faith has generated lots of good will among the two sides.

As unexpected as it seems, because of Christmas, Faith convinces both sides to celebrate together and her plan works! They all agree to destroy the tower they have been fighting over. And as the fighting ceases, the planet is declared a neutral and safe place to seek refuge. What happens to Gar and Faith who made all of these amazing changes possible? Did they survive? Grab your copy and see how this story turns out!

As the Coalition and Alliance Forces are locked in a stalemate over a strategic tower on the planet of Armstrong, both sides are without a medic to treat their wounded. Gar is ordered to find someone to treat their wounded, among the few remaining humans on the planet. Gar kidnaps Faith and takes her to the Coalition camp. There she treats the wounded for their physical wounds as well as their psychological wounds. Soon all of the soldiers in the camp are won over by her loving care. When she hears that the Alliance camp doesn’t have a medic, she insists on being allowed to offer her services to them. Gar would rather face death than lose her, so he accompanies her, against his commanders orders. When they return, they are both imprisoned for disobeying orders. There is mutiny among the soldiers and they are freed. When Faiths suggests a ceasefire for Christmas and a joint celebration of the troops, everyone is skeptical. But over the course of dinner, a comradery is established, and both side decide to destroy the tower that is being fought over. Thus the 6 month stalemate comes to an end. As Faith and Gar fall in love and decide to marry, Gar resigns his position in the Coalition forces and the soldiers of both sides decide to make the Planet of Armstrong a neutral planet and a haven for battle weary soldiers and their families from both sides. A great Christmas

I really enjoyed reading this outstanding, action-packed Sci-Fi alien romance with a fantastic well-written, interesting plot. The characters are well-developed with good chemistry between them although one of the main characters (Faith) was inclined to be a bit judgmental towards the other main character (Gar) but these two continue to develop throughout the story-line to become emotional attached to each other. There is good support from the secondary characters,
There is: a alien Coalition solder & assassin (Gar) is ordered by his commander (Riven) to find a Doctor in the ruined city & he discovers a human female medic (Faith) & promptly takes her to help with the injured, various kinds of aliens, humans, a Interstellar Human Confederation, a Trident Alliance, intrigue, suspense, drama, twists & turns, Coalition/Alliance disputes, war, battles, adventure, action, abduction, danger, threats, enemies, violence, conflict, verbal conflict, confrontations, violence, injuries, attractions, confusion, unexpected playfulness, ultimatums, devious plans, decisions, compromises, hope, love, steamy scenes, contentment & a satisfying conclusion.

Touching and powerful start to series

Wow. Hope in A Time of War completely blew me away. This was hands down one of the BEST books of any genre I have read so far this year. Reminiscent of war stories from World War One, the Planet of Armstrong and its human citizens find themselves in the center of planetary trench warfare between two alien factions, the Coalition and the Alliance. Human refugees are barely surviving in the remains of the city of New Rio. Faith is a former medic, now school teacher, using her skills to keep a handful of refugees alive when she is taken by alien Coalition soldier, Gar, to help provide medical help to dying troops on the front lines. What follows is the building of hope, friendship, love, and a Christmas Miracle of the likes of stories of old. There are also brief moments of intense and amazingly sexy HOT interludes between Gar and Faith as they steal brief glimmers of happiness with each other between battles and toil. These two are such powerful characters. Faith is the definition of a strong and emotionally intelligent heroine. Even when Gar has his moments of emotional angst, she simply rides out the storm. So, so good. I can't wait to see more of this couple's HFN in book two.

Christmas truce meets Alien Romance...

There is a lot of wonderful stuff in this done in one, stand-alone quick read about opposing forces, dug in one fateful December, on a planet far, far away.

This story covers so many of the hardest aspects of war, the injuries, the frustrations... and how not wanting to keep fighting, week after week, for the same hill, losing friends in each attempt can be phrased as cowardice by those who are looking at statistics and maps, as opposed to losing their friends, and holding the hands of those who will never be the same.

There is a lot of pain and suffering in this story, which might be why the bright spots, and the hope it finds, in a time of war, shines so brightly.

More than just finding cause for hope, there are healing and inspirational aspects that make me glad I read this story this holiday season.

The prologue does a great job of establishing the Universe, and the final gossip cracked me up. Loved the tabloid-esque attitude.

War Is Hell👹, Lady

Alpha Male Sci-fi ADULT Romance💞 and War🔪🔫💥 Adventure.

I had a hard time with some of the plot for this book. The Coalition Ataxian warriors🐺🔪🔫 are at war on a desolated planet called Armstrong, in winter, with Gar🐺🔪🔫 and Riven leading the way. Gar🐺🔪🔫 is able to spy on the opposing side, the Alliance, and learns they have no medics and they plan an all out attack, which will be devastating for the Alliance.

Faith💃💋, Gar's new human woman, is the Coalition medic and she wants to stop the fighting. She declares there can be no room in Gar's heart💕 for her if it is filled only with thoughts of revenge.

The book is written in first person dual points of view, which I don't care for much. The XXX scenes between Gar🐺🍆⛲🔪🔫 and Faith💃💋 were humorous because they were badly written and odd.
I did like the fighting🔫💃💥 and adventure parts to the book, which is most of it. Read the book for the adventure of it, not because it is an ADULT romance!

“Hope In a Time of War” is a sci-fi romance with strong themes of hope and peace. Gar is an alien soldier who is tasked with finding a medic to help the wounded at his camp. He finds Faith and forces her to come with him. They do not start off as friends but through a series of events become close to each other. She treats the wounded because she is compassionate. She brings humanity to both sides of the war and to Gar who thinks he’s way past salvation.
This is a highly descriptive story and includes characters from other related Athena Storm books. There is drama and tension in this warzone setting with death possible at any minute. But where there is Faith, there is love. Will that be enough for this couple to survive? One thing is for sure, they generate enough heat to melt snow! This is an engaging and seasonal story with the addition of heart warming Christmas traditions.

This is an improbable but sweet Christmas love story. Faith is a teacher living in the remains of a city destroyed by the Alliance and the Coalition. She has some medic training which she uses to help those who share her hiding place. Gar is a genetically modified species of sentients who fight for the Coalition. He is sent in search of a doctor and happens to find her. She has a strong religious belief and loves Christmas. The difficult part is that humans are still celebrating Christmas the same as 300 years in the past. He has a real sweet, soft side in spite of his warrior behavior. She is wonderfully cheerful even while treating members of one of the warring forces responsible for her predicament. There is insta-lust between them. But she seems to also be a miracle worker. This is a short and nice love story with a lot of hope.

She brings the peace and goodwill of Christmas to a planet at war!
by sewsummore

The Alliance and the Coalition at war, both of them dug in only miles from one and other during the winter months of December. Both have been ordered to take control of the communication tower but neither one is prepared to loose. The situation is grim until and angel of mercy arrives in the form of a human woman who administers aid to both, raising the spirits of the soldiers and saving the lives of those injured. She brings hope and sanity in a time of need and helps brocker a truce that brings the peace and goodwill of Christmas to a planet in need. This was a beautiful story that brings compassion and love for those when hope is lost, a love for a soldier weary of war and a woman who belives in god and forgiveness!

I didn't understand the plot mechanics to this book at all. The hero, Gar, and heroine, Faith, begin a romantic relationship right away without any type of relationship buildup. They live on a planet in the middle of nowhere, he's alien and she's human, but the setting reads more post apocalyptic, year 2000. Despite having enemy warships, and having managed space travel, there's no technology on this planet, everyone is living in tents and using fossil fuels. And out of all of the creatures on Earth, cardinals are flying around and eaten by the human-gangs and alien soldiers.

The aliens are too humanistic. They have mess halls, parade rests, US military titles and use modern day English idioms, yet are confused by the idea of Christmas. Then they spend the day hanging Christmas lights and hand making ornaments.

I gave up at 50% into the tale after skimming pages of descriptions dumps and backstory. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

Fully enjoyed this Athena Storm book. The way the characters developed throughout the story really impressed me, as did the emotional connection made with both the main characters.

Totally fell in love with Gar! Such a hardened soul because of his history. Watching his 'humanity' (for an alien) emerge was both heartwrenching and inspiring. There were times I was frudteref with Faith, but she seemed to eventually understand the horror Gar lived with, which served to bond them further. (I also feel she understood her part in the battle she witnessed, which made the experience even more unbearable.)

I am not going to even suggest any more about the events of this book. You just have to read yoursrlf. I was honored to receive an ARC of this book and provide an unbiased, honest review to encourage others to share in this amazing story.

The war is still raging on between the coalition and the alliance with no end in sight until Faith, Gar is a Warrior and an assassin for the coalition and Faith is a medic and a teacher she is also a human. Gar is sent to get a medic so he grabs Faith she has no choice she must go with him or their warriors will die, Faith is the total opposite of Gar he’s a hardened warrior and Faith only wants peace and she makes it work with both sides. Gar is a bit uncomfortable at first with Faith she makes him feel things but then their chemistry goes to scorching hot, sorry guys I’m not going to get too much into this story it’s a quick read and I don’t want to ruin too much of this story. This is a fantastic addition to this series and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Gar is sent to find someone to treat their wounded so he kidnaps Faith.
Kreetu soldier known as a Skulker Gar can move unnoticed so he is sent on a mission to the ruins of New Rios to find someone with medical training to treat their wounded as their own doctor is suffering from pneumonia. When he gets there he infiltrates a building where he had observed a figure enter and sees a female tending their wounded. He drops down and holds them at gun point then ties her hand together puts her over his shoulder and leaves. On the journey back to camp he finds out she is named Faith. As soon as they enter the camp they are taken to a wounded soldier who Faith recognizes as having internal bleeding. Gar assists her to operate to save his life.

This story started out strong and hooked me immediately. I loved the chemistry between the two main characters. My only critique is I was confused about some elements of the story. I kept wondering if I was missing more background information for the story to make sense. For example, I didn't understand the ability for the each of the Alien species to understand what the others were saying. There seemed to be no language barriers among the camps. Also, if there was more history for the main characters, then I could better understand their personal conflicts.

Overall, the book was very entertaining. I enjoyed getting a glimpse into the Athenaverse. I would recommend this for anyone who enjoys a scifi romance with hints of a space drama.

I received an ARC version of the book for my honest opinion of this tale.

War and a guarded heart is with this story is about. There is an assassin who is given a command to go to the nearby town and retrieve a medic because their medic in camp is sick and dying. The medic is a female unbeknownst to him prior to the mission. He has be order by any means including kidnapping. This medic is also a school teacher and was helping her students and some of the residents that were still alive in the nearby town. Against her will she concedes to going back to the war zone to help the soldiers who owned it. Faith is the medic and she is full of faith. This about faith and trying not to find love in a time of war. Being an assassin sought on revenge is what this a good book. Faith with faith can’t go wrong.

Gar.
The Assassin Soldier. Feared by many. Sent on a mission bs commander to find the medic in the human's ruined city. He did, but in finding her he found his heart. His Love.
Faith
All she ever wanted was to teach. She dropped out of medical school to teach. When war came to their new world she had no choice but to go back to her medical teaching. The wounded need her. After being taken by Gar she rendered aid to the wounded Coalition. When she heard that their enemies, the Alliance, need medical care, she went to help them too.
Read Hope in A Time of War, to see how Faith and Gar found each other. See how Gar learned to love a woman named Faith.

A war with no end, hate and resentment had Gar without hope for a better life but he will learn that not all was lost. Faith Jorelle was ready to help no matter to whom and she had faith that at some time there would be a better tomorrow. The war had been devastating but Faith and Gar found in each other the support and passion they needed to move forward and build a new tomorrow. I remembered reading years ago about another war and the truce they made to share on Christmas Day, and it made me smile. The Christmas spirit could work miracles! I liked Faith's character with her humanitarianism, her sense of duty and her passion. A story with emotion, adventure, characters facing bleakness, suspense, some amusing scenes, heated passion and at the end a lesson to think about.

I could not stop reading this book. It was nothing like I expected but everything I enjoy in a sci-fi romance. I absolutely adored Faith even if Gar got on my nerves quickly. And the secondary characters were interesting enough that I would love to see each one of the wounded warriors get their own story. Just enough action in and out of the bed to keep you reading, the author did an excellent job of keeping me entertained on a cold December afternoon. Even better, I have another one of her books I plan to start next because of this one.

Gar is a soldier for the Coalition. Both factions are on Armstrong and have just about destroyed the planet. Faith survived and helps doing medical and teaching. Gar is sent to find a doctor as theirs is sick. Faith has no choice but to go with Gar. She does what she can for the injured. She is a very personable woman. They all start liking her. Faith tells them a bit about her life and Christmas. At a point Faith goes to the other side, the Alliance, to help their injured also. The other side also likes her. Eventually Faith comes up with a plan. A truce comes about. The two opposing forces come up with a plan. They implement it. Can they live in peace? Loved the book!

Gar is an assassin. Specially trained and enhanced to survive and complete his missions. He is tasked with finding a doctor to treat his troops. Faith is the leader of a small band of refugees hiding out in a wrecked, abandoned building. Little in the way of supplies or fuel, they are desperate and cling together.

Unfortunately, she is also a medic, and Gar captures her and takes her back to the front lines. She is a pragmatic soul and just dives in to help the wounded falling for Gar along the way. But on the other side of the line are the human troops who also need a healer, and how can she resolve her need to help?

I absolutely loved this book and the storyline kept you wanting more and more as two alien races learn about Christmas by a human medic. Faith Jorelle just wants to stay alive and does the best she can by helping the sick and injured until she is taken by an alien named Gar who was sent to get a doctor for the men back at his campsite and he found her and after some convincing by threatening the others she leaves with him. There is so much more to this story but I don’t want to give it all away so just get it it’s really good.

What a great book. I could not put it down. Very well written, with a great plot. This book has action, romance, pain, sadness and hope. We get a broader idea about the war between the Alliance and Coalition and how it is impacting everyone. My favorite part was where Faith won over grumpy Syth and also the part where Gar sunk into the enemy camp and became one of them for a short time. I can not wait to read more books in the Athenaverse series.

Gar is sent to find a doctor and bring the person back to treat the men. Gar follows a woman and then imitates her knock signal to gain entry. Gar finds that Faith is the medic and tells her to gather her medical pack and go with him. Faith helps the soldiers and at the same time finds herself falling in love with Gar. Faith goes to treat the enemy as they have no doctor. She tells them about Christmas and makes cookies. This is a good read but I’m not going to spoil the rest for you.

There is nothing like a magical Christmas story. It will lift your spirits and bring a smile to your heart. In a time of war, can hope be found? This book just might find it in 'Faith'. A broken soldier and a human that still believes just might make this a Merry Christmas. Gar needs to be shown that he is so much more than a warrior. Faith can do that, if he allows her to. A great read that could possibly unite the forces and put a halt to the war. I loved every second of this book.

The woman who stopped a war...
The Coalition and the Alliance have been locked in a ground battle on planet Armstrong long enough that their resources and manpower are gradually being exhausted. Gar, a Coalition assassin is tasked with finding and retrieving a rumored medic in a nearby bombed out city. He brings Miss Faith back to his camp where she quickly and easily captures the hearts of everyone there, especially Gar. Faith isn’t satisfied with only saving one side, she wants to help everyone.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. The book is about the Earth getting to be a war zone with some Alien. Faith was taking caring of the human's that need to be taking care of in the old school building. Atazia had to take care of his people and that was getting a doctor to take care of the Alien's that was hurt. Now would be the time to get the book to read what happens. I will be getting another from this author. Thank you for writing the books so we care read them.

I so enjoyed this read, it is different from the usual Alien romance reads and for that, it was a book that had you reading from the beginning to the end. No page flicking in this book you do want to read every word. I highly recommend you read and you will certainly not be disappointed. A world of war to a world of peace.
