Made the sausage meat loaf again went down great Good soup recipes too made the chicken noodle n the minestrone again yummy. For breakfasts we be made the baked oats but with blueberries n her bircher muesli n loved both so that's a good few recipes n they are all simple n worked n looked like the photos. This book is full of so much advice n recipes a good first cookbook as it's full of basics as well as being a cheap ways book. Sections are meal plan Breakfasts Soups n salads Light bites Meat n fish Pasta n rice Slow cooker Takeaways Sweet treats Basics. A really good index too. A great family or couple or single person book as recipes can be frozen n reheated.
I wouldn’t normally include a cookery book in my reading but this is , I think the best cook book I’ve ever bought - and I have 43 on kindle and maybe around 40 on my shelves. And it cost me 99p! I like that it’s got me organised. I’ve changed a few meals for my own in the plan as I don’t eat red meat, but to plan and shop instead of wondering what to have all the time. There’s only 2 of us and I know I do spend more than £20 a week but that’s as I shop weekly - and there’s a few extras in there - but I’ve just made 8 evening meals for £9 and that includes a free range chicken. I am definitely saving money. I have loved some of the recipes. And they’re so simple to make! Cream cheese and stock for a pasta sauce- so much easier.
I would love to have it in print as I would like to add notes and ideas for other recipes! I know that I will have this book for years as it is just what I have been looking for and now I have found it. Actually, I live alone but I cook almost everyday and freeze for later. Then I have a menu to choose from every evening and put my choices in the fridge to defrost for the next day’s meals. Thank you Lorna, it’s great XX
All of the recipes I've tried have worked for me, and it is not a diet/healthy eating book, it's aimed at keeping household costs down, but I'd really have liked the nutritional values labelled to help towards a balanced diet, because I'm lazy and typing it all into MFP takes me ages!
Easy to read very good idea receipies certainly going to try a a lot of them mainly for me and my husband but but brilliant when family costs with out breaking the bank I enjoyed it will recommend to family and friends
Really enjoyed this book. Can't wait to try the recipes shopping list is a great idea will print them and work out what I need and what I already have. Start saving in 2024
Most of the recipes sound great. I have made a couple and they’ve been delicious. Only negative thing for me is that the portion sizes seem a bit ‘mean’ eg there’s a recipe which says serves 8 but only uses 2 chicken breasts.
